Could Bobby Boucher tackle Forrest Gump?

IMO. Believe it depends on the football situation, think Gump's speed in the open field wins.

    ...what if,

A.) Forrest said something about Bobby's mama

    Or..

    B.) Forrest felt like running

    🤔

*( we can thank the internet memes for debates like this)

Absolutely. Forrest was an All-American player, but Boucher set records that are even beyond video game statistics. He was able to powerbomb All-American DL Meanie and tackle Colonel Sanders.

Do you think that Mama can tackle Forrest?

Sorry if someone else has discussed this but I didn't see it.  I read on twitter (I think linked to an IndyStar article) that the IHSAA and the coaches were considering changing the way Mr. Football is voted.  The big schools apparently did not appreciate a 1A school football player getting the award over David Bell.  They cited the overwhelming number of 1st place votes Kiger received from 1A and 2A schools.  The proposed change is EVERY coach, head and assistants, would get a vote. Kind of reverses the advantage to the large schools, doesn't it?  If the likes of Carmel, Warren, Ben Davis, etc. have 10 assistant coaches vs. Pioneer, Tipton, West Central, etc. having maybe 5,6 assistants, the balance has a heavy big school lean.  I'm obviously guessing on number of assistants at schools but it sure seems like sour grapes.

Jacon and Ab were pretty good ball players back in the day, but I wasn't aware that either had won Mr. Football.

Natural enrollment classes, public schools only

1A: Pioneer (great community support, football foundation, sustained talent) / Sheridan (you don't want to be the one following the legend, but it's a football-crazy community that has long had success)
2A: Bremen (always there, has had a great football culture for generations) / Southridge (sports-crazy community, generally good).
3A: West Lafayette (probably the smallest true "college town" school in the state, but a good 3A with a generally-supportive community) / Heritage Hills (again, always there, great foundation, great community).
4A: New Palestine (suburban Indy, great admin, rapid growth, community is football-crazy, lots of recent success, will be 5A for 3rd straight cycle but is a mid-sized 4A by enrollment) / East Central (suburban Cincinnati, rapid growth, community is football-crazy, lots of historic success) / Evansville Reitz (insane community support, college-level facilities)
5A: Bloomington South (college town, football is a BIG deal there) / Columbus East (great program / pipeline / community support / open enrollment gives you access to the entire county) / FW Snider (has become the destination for public school athletes in Fort Wayne)
6A: Carmel / Warren Central / Ben Davis (gigantic enrollments, lots of athletes, chance to win a state title virtually every year)

If you throw p/ps in there, Chatard, Cathedral, Dwenger, Reitz, Roncalli, Memorial, Luers would be in the mix. Those teams have a chance to win a state title virtually every year.

Don't forget about LCC and Linton in 1A. They've had a few "down" years, but they'll be back in no time.

I think they like the guys they had last year class, just needed a Red Shirt year

Love Dale Williams the OL coach

Be fun to see who is taking 1st team reps this spring

dodged a bullet with McCann injury in bowl game

I hope you're right. With Mendez leaving the program, there is little to no playing experience in the interior line.

I would say the quality of football peaked in the 2000-2010 era.  The game was still very physical, and the athletic talent was at an all time high.

The game today is too watered down for my liking.  Low participation numbers are having an impact on development at all levels.  Concussion concerns are forcing many athletes to leave the game or abort promising careers.  Contact continues to be removed from the game  Over analysis and numbers crunching have replaced basic strategy and instinct.  Just look at the recent wave of inexperienced NFL coaching hires.  Bettors have replaced casual fans.

Basic blocking and tackling have been devalued by the implementation of pro 7 on 7 type rules.

I'll name a few positives for you. 7 on 7 games in the off-season give teams an opportunity the chance for their skill players to have live go reps against other competition. It also gives teams a great opportunity to work on their passing offense.

Injuries are down, which will lead a number increase over time.

7 on 7 has ruined traditional tackle football

Its basically a more physical version of flag football

Not the game most of us  grew up to know, love and play.

It robs athletes of the natural football instinct for contact, which is what attracted many of us to the game.

And disassociates linemen from the team concept due to its exclusionary nature

Try naming the positives in one of your gripes for a change.

  7. Nick Holt's son Ben made it official that he has transferred from Western Kentucky to Purdue. He is a grad transfer and will be a 5th year senior linebacker. Now all that Purdue needs is a few grad transfer offensive linemen and they will be all set.

Idk about that latest list but like I said I try to keep up with UK and the SEC. I feel like the SEC only having 7 teams isn't enough. The conference is better at the top and has more depth than in previous years. I'm also really not sure about IU getting in....

IU has one of the best non-conference resumes in the country, but they've absolutely fizzled in the B1G.

I asked this on another thread, but I've read about some of the affiliates for other teams, but who is the Colts' affiliate?

A quick Google search didn't yield any results.

With eight AAF teams and eight NFL divisions, it makes sense to designate a team as an affiliate for each division.

This.  This is huge.  If they had tried to go up against the NFL they wouldn't have even gotten off the ground...

Add to this that each AAF team has NFL affiliate teams, much like NBA G/D-League does. It's great for the sport and keeps veterans active for longer. I'm predicting that we will see more feel good comeback stories in the NFL due to the AAF's impact.

    This is just football overkill.

In the period of contraction, why are we seeing more leagues

All this league does is delay the onset of real life for these athletes, most or all who have already been thoroughly evaluated and passed over for their shot at the NFL

The season is long enough already  Its time for baseball

Kurt Warner should've just kept working as a bag boy, right?

    250,000 reasons to keep playing......

That's exactly why I love this new league. 250K over three years isn't going to make anyone rich. HOWEVER, it will put bread on the table and the season is only 10 weeks plus the playoffs, which allows the option for a second job, education, or ample family time.

What I also love about this league is that they are specifically a minor league of sorts. They're not trying to go head to head with the NFL.

Confiscating all of the wealth in the country is a start, you see. Then we kill all the cows. Then we tear down all the buildings. Then when everyone is broke and homeless and starving, we can figure out where to go from there. A flawless plan, you must agree.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. Don't forget your tinfoil hat.

Lastly is she even attempts to take my beef, it’s gonna bo on like Donkey Kong!

I can see it now. The gubmint shows up to your house to confiscate all of your beef. You then threaten them with your shotgun while wearing a MAGA hat, chewing some Skoal Wintergreen, and wearing a pair of boxers.

  14. More former Indiana high school players and players with former Indiana connections.

Kitt O'Brien plays for the Birmingham Iron.

Austin Appleby and Akeem Hunt play for the Orlando Apollo. Former Notre Dame punter Ben Turk does as well.

Eddy Wilson and Greer Martini play for the Salt Lake Stallions.

The San Antonio Commanders have heavy Indiana ties. Andrew McDonald, Austin Larkin, Danny Ezechukwu, Chase Dutra, and Scott Daly have all played college ball in our great state.

Gelen Robinson plays for the San Diego Fleet.

Nyles Morgan plays for the Arizona Hotshots.

Tarean Folston plays for the Atlanta Legends.
