Really no good WR's in free agents this year. If Bears trade pick, should get good WR in a deal, if a player can be traded at this time ??

It's looking like the stadium itself is just a pipedream. They just partnered with St. Francis to play their games there for the next two years.
Yep, and they will not be playing in League one this year and likely not next.

I believe that project was driven by Beasley, played at South Side. Per Wiki; On October 28, 2020, Fort Wayne FC announced Beasley's addition to their ownership group as co-owner of the club.[53][54] The teams has announced plans to self-promoted from USL League Two to USL League One beginning in the 2023 season.[55]

CG loses Carmel but picks up Lakewood (OH) St. Edward.
Carmel loses CG and picks up ?
Regardless, advantage CG.
Blackhawk Christian is looking for games.

There's something different about North Side since Ben Johnson took over. In good way.
Yes, I agree, good hire for the North, SAC is better with them playing good. I would think there are other FBS potential recruits in the FWA Metroplex?? Just don't know where to look. Anyone have any good sites for that?

Are the Legends going to stake their claim as the Top team in 5a like they did last year?
I don't think they will be the top 5A dog in the area. I feel last year was their better chance. I really liked the RB Lambert. I believe he graduated, thought he had FBS potential, maybe not P-5, but MAC type??

Jordan King OT out of North Side is a three star per 247

I would consider Northwood to be in the greater South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart Tri-plex area.

So let's equate this to football.
Under the three high school system, we would have three schools with about 1700 students
Under the two high school system, we would have two schools with about 2500 students.
Regardless of the outcome, South Bend football with still suck.
Wondering why you think SB school football will still suck, there would be plenty of free lunches !!

CG beats them by 10-14.

Canton Freedom bowl is playing on 8-26 & 8-27-23Update - those were last years dates, can't find for 2023

Who were you thinking should be higher? If you go back to the 90's, Penn would elevate over Snider. Not sure anyone else can make a case.
I would expect Penn and Snider to be flipped. I do remember Snider being ranked #14 nationally, think that was back in the 80's?? or early 90's?? Luers could make a case, but being 2A may be the issue

Yeah, regardless if Pike won one State Championship and floundered into a Top 100 across the USA (97th just barely) The definition of a dynasty is not 1 State Championship over 14 years, I would better coin them as a (Cinderella or One Hit Wonder).
Here is a better depiction for Indiana Dynasty's (2003-present) via Calpreps.
I find that interesting that FWA Snider is the top, non Indy area school.

Always wondered why he was overlooked by most P5 programs coming out of high school.

No, the average person wouldn't rank North Side as the second best football destination in the FWA Metroplex. I think most people would go with Snider, Dwenger, and Luers due to their program's histories, and Carroll and Homestead due to their academics and facilities. But North Side did have a couple of unusual transfers come in with a new coach a the helm. Will there be more where that came from? Stay tuned.
I think the long standing staff stability gives Snider the edge over a up and possibly coming North Side staff and program. I will stay tuned 🍿

If Ben Johnson can sell a kid from Dwenger on North Side, he can probably sell anything. He's only going on year three with the Redskins, I mean Legends, so maybe I'm putting too much stock in him. Something feels different though with him at the helm.
I would put Homestead right behind Snider at the #4 spot. Plus, I'm not sure Homestead actively pursues players from other schools. Like Dwenger, they seem to be OK working within their own pipeline. Just my take from the outside looking in.
Yep, Your opinion so I can't argue. I did wonder if the Saints QB went into transfer portal cause he felt Dwenger was going struggle in 2022 and he had opp to throw ball to one of the best WR's in state and nation, plus had a great back behind him. We may never know. IMO North Side is not the #2 football destination in the FWA Metroplex

Not sure you're going to see a slew of transfer portal kids go to Blackhawk, and if you do, what will be their talent level? If a kid has D1 potential, he's probably going to want to continue completing at the 5a and 6a levels. Then there's two other factors, each having two parts:
1. A player's family will have to come up with 12k per year to send their athlete to the school. And they'll have to be ok with their child learning in a Christian setting.
2. A player would have to qualify for the voucher system. And the player's parents will have to be ok with them learning in a Christian environment.
In the current environment. A kid in Fort Wayne is probably going to transfer to one of three programs.
1. Carroll - Great school system provided by taxpayers with outstanding an outstanding football facility.
2. North Side - Not sure what coach Ben Johnson is offering kids outside of his district. But he seems to be able to get them to buy into his program.
3. Snider - Just a great program that produces next level football players.
I'm interested in you having North Side there vs Homestead. North seems to get on a 3-5 year cycle of having decent team. This last team, 2021 & 2022 was this best since late 1990's?? I would think Homestead would be one of the top 3 designations in the greater FWA metroplex?

At the "lower levels"....7th and 8th grade, Blackhawk Christian has already been fielding 11-man teams. So there is a template in the ensuing years for them to participate beyond 8-man.
(I believe) They played their 8-man schedule at Snider's Bowser Field, so I'd assume that at some point they would be looking for a larger facility for their "home-field".
RUMOR ALERT! With Snider potentially building an on-campus stadium soon across the street (next to Lane Middle School).....Might that be the place when the Panthers are on the road? Don't forget that the FW Fire Station is moving to Reed and State. A heck of a lot of LAND that is owned and ready for 'something' to build upon...just saying!
Yes, the ACAC may be the most appropriate conference for them in sports....they'll take their lumps in FB though. The ACAC schools (no matter what we may assume) are steeped in FB tradition that will take a few seasons to become competitive in. Baseball, Basketball, Soccer...etc. the Braves would be a competitive member on Day One, and in some cases a POWERHOUSE.
Good luck to them if this is their goal.
And yes, 1A FB! The student numbers would place them squarely in 1A for FB. All other sports, would remain the same as they are at this time, unless SF puts them into a different classification.
Would be nice is Snider had their own stadium. Been wishing that for decades.

Snider loss to valpo was eye opening
They should have ran that game over before halftime
At the Same time I tried multiple times to watch castle vs whiteland but I just couldn't. It was bad football and to say otherwise is laughable.
5a football was atrocious this year from the top down, new pal ec and roncalli could have mercy ruled the 5a state game, memorial could have won it.
But I stated all this months ago when I mentioned 2015 snider would have absolutely trounced this years team
It's not indy bias to look at 5a football this year and say it was objectively bad.
I will say Snider underperformed in the Valpo game for sure. Not talking away from Valpo, but how many times does a team need to run off left tackle and the D can't adjust. Think they were also unprepared for the 2 point conversion.

the only reason the list made it so deep was to get 5a representation, they are right where they belong
Disagree. Merrillville probably in good spot. Snider and North and Valpo would beat GS, Andrean, LN and a few others IMO. But it is your poll so it is what you see. Just not good JMO
