Martinsville 34 Bloomington South 21 (6:48, 3rd) Arties answered South's score to start the 3rd with a long drive staying almost exclusively on the ground picking up yardage through big holes made by their big line.
-
Martinsville 27 Bloomington South 21 (very early 3rd) South's Mckay ran the kickoff of the 2nd half to the 22 yard-line of the Arties. South RB Townsend scored on two carries to cover the 22 yards.

Cruz was hurt late in the game in in their game with Bloomington North and I don't know if he played or not against the Patriots or if he had limitations since I don't know the specifics of the game. Needless to say, THN needed to get that losing streak monkey off their back and they did in surprising fashion and like you said, congrats to them.

Yikes!! Terre Haute North got their first win since 2022 to snap a 14-game losing streak after beating Mooresville 36-32. Everyone outside of the TH North fans and team, had Mooresville putting this game away by halftime. What's going on with the Pioneers? They beat a ranked Bloomington North team last week to open the season and then turned around and went on the road to lose to a team on a 14-game losing streak. The Patriots may be improved, but this just doesn't figure.

The Bloomington South/Martinsville game has finally been postponed with the Arties up 27-14 at the half. The game will resume tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. The JV and freshman games tomorrow have been cancelled.
-
They haven't postponed the Bloom. South/Martinsville game yet, but as of 9:35, the weather is getting worse with thunderstorms pounding the area.
-
Bloomington North 45 Bedford NL 0 (final)
-
The Floyd Central at Terre Haute South game has also been postponed.
-
It's turned into a full blown thunderstorm now.
-
Yeah, I saw that. I believe the new clock on the delay started at 9:05 per Gordillo tweet.
-
Bloomington North 38 Bedford NL 0 (end of 3rd) North tacked on another score before the end of the 3rd to start the running clock.
-
Bloomington North 31 Bedford NL 0 (5:19, 3rd) The Cougars returned a fumble for a score to add to their lead.
-
Perry Meridian 42 Southport 0 (half) Running clock to start the 2nd half. PM hasn't been very good over the past few seasons, but they really have the Cards number.
-
There's a lightning delay to the start of the 2nd half in the Martinsville/Bloom. South game. South will bet the ball when the 2nd half resumes. The pick that the Arties got near the end of the half was actually ruled a catch and then a fumble when the receiver had the ball stolen from him.
-
Bloomington North 24 Bedford NL 0 (half) Columbus North 21 Columbus East 0 (late 2nd) Decatur Central 21 New Pal 21 (half)
-
No replay on it so I don't know about the calls. They started keying on Townsend after he ran the ball down their throats in the 1st so they slowed him down, plus it pretty hot on the field. Their QB looked pretty sharp in scoring at the end, but the secondary played a big part in that. They need to open up the throwing attack with the Arties keying on the running game. Johnson can't be happy with the penalties and punt protection.
-
Martinsville 27 Bloomington South 14 (half) South was driving into Arties territory with time running down in the half when the Arties stole the ball out of a receiver's hands for a pick. They picked up big yardage through the air with poor Panthers secondary coverage to tack on a TD with 10 seconds left in the half. The Panthers youth and inexperience really showed itself in a disastrous 2nd qtr.
-
Martinsville 20 Bloomington South 14 (3:20, 2nd) Martinsville scored on a 65-yard drive to take the lead. While turnovers have hurt the Arties, major penalties have been a big problem for South along with poor punt protection. The Arties have played a much cleaner game when it comes to penalties.
-
Bloomington South 14 Martinsville 13 (early 2nd) The Arties blocked a Panthers punt and recovered it in the end zone for a TD to pull within one at 14-13. Bloomington North 14 BNL 0 (3:35, 1st)
-
Bloomington South 14 Martinsville 6 (end of 1st) The Panthers picked the Arties just before the end of the 1st, taking the ball to the Arties 3-yard line. QB Duncan Combs scored on a QB keeper.
-
Bloomington South 7 Martinsville 6 (3:36, 1st) South was their worst own enemy on the Arties score picking up two facemasks penalties for 30 yards on the Arties drive which was a QB keeper. Two-point conversion failed.
-
Bloomington South 7 Martinsville 0 (7:21, 1st) Martinsville opened the game with the ball, but punted after a big sack by South. South, on their first possession picked up big yardage by RB Braylen Townsend with Townsend going 55 yards for the TD. It was 93 degrees 45 minutes before the opening kickoff.

Week 2 in CI: Bloomington South and North are both on the road for a 2nd straight week, with Southport the only other team on the "road" although their game with Perry Meridian will be at Southport with the Cards the visiting team. On paper, three teams (Bloom. South, Terre Haute South, and Southport) seem to be in competitive games, while the other three are in games that promise to be blowouts or close to it. Bloomington North (0-1) @ BNL (0-1): BNL got blasted on their home field by Martinsville, 50-7, last week and they will be facing an angry Cougar team after they played a miserable first qtr against Mooresville last week and played catch-up the rest of the game, falling short. I expect this game to have the mercy rule being in effect at some point with BNL getting blown out again. JH's prediction (North 49 BNL 14) Columbus East (0-1) @ Columbus North (1-0): The Bull Dogs steamrolled preseason 5A No. 1 Decatur Central on the road, 41-15, while Columbus East stayed within striking distance of Bloom. South at home until the 3rd qtr when South started taking control with their running game. The Olympians had a 4th and goal at the South five-yard line early in the 3rd, but failed to convert and that seemed to take the air out of East as South controlled the game from that point on in a 27-6 win. This is a crosstown rivalry, and East might stay close for a while, but like with South, will probably run out of gas as the game progresses. This game may be a blowout. JH's prediction: (North 45 East 3) Bloomington South (1-0) @ Martinsville (1-0): The Panthers go on the road for the second straight week and face a pretty good Artesian team in a game that promises to be close. In their season opening game on the road, the Arties ran all over BNL with senior QB A J Reynolds and senior RB Austin Pryor having big games, while in their game with Col. East, South was led on offense by soph QB Duncan Combs and junior RB Braylen Townsend having big games. This game will be a better judge of where both teams stand going forward. If it comes down to the kicking game -- advantage South. JH's prediction: (South 31 Martinsville 17) Floyd Central (0-1) @ Terre Haute South (0-1): Floyd Central makes the long trip to Terre Haute after losing their season opener at home to Kentucky powerhouse, Louisville St. X, 56-14. Despite the loss, the Highlanders are expected to be among the top teams in the HHC this season. Terre Haute South opened their season at Plainfield and lost 31-27. The Braves had a big statistical advantage over the Quakers and doubled the total offensive yards over the Quakers, but they threw three picks in the game which was the difference in winning and losing that game. I see this game being a close, competitive game. JH's prediction: (Floyd Central 38 TH South 35) Southport (0-1) @ Perry Meridian (0-1): PM is the host team on Southport's field. Both teams are coming off poor seasons last year with PM going 2-8 and Southport going 2-9. In their head-to-head matchup last season, Perry Meridan blasted Southport, 40-10. Both teams lost big in their season opener, so this is a big chance for one of them to get an early win in a season where wins will in all likelihood, be few and far apart for both teams. Despite PM's blowout win over the Cards last season, I think this game will be both close and competitive. JH's prediction: (Perry Meridian 45 Southport 17) Mooresville (1-0) @ Terre Haute North (0-1): There's not much you can say about this game since on paper it looks like a blowout win coming for the Pioneers. Mooresville got a big opening season win at home against a favored Bloomington North, 30-27, while TH North lost on the road to Northview, 34-20. The Patriots have lost 14 games in a row, and it looks like they are headed for 15 games in row after this Friday. This game may start the 2nd half with the mercy rule in effect. JH's prediction: (Mooresville 59 Terre Haute North 0)

My "OH MY" scores of the week!
ptr replied to Tippy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
While it's not what you would call an "Oh My" score, I would like to congratulate Brown County on their season opening win at Owen Valley, 30-21. Owen Valley had blasted the Eagles the past two seasons, 60-0 and 77-7, and BC had lost by some totally out of control scores in those two seasons despite the mercy rule, like 84-0 to Greencastle last season. They have a first-year coach in Tony Bell who seems to have turned around the attitude surrounding the program. The program had been a real mess for a few seasons. -
I saw a tweet (X) that Cruz was hurt late in the game. There was no follow-up post on that, so I don't know if it was minor or something a little worse. @JimGordillo · Aug 23 Two stops for North. 3rd down at the 1 with QB Connor Cruz hurt. 4:57 left
