  1. I don't know anything about the expectations at BNL but as you indicated the Arties really took it to them, 50-7. Frozen Tundra at the Hoosier Hills Conference thread, put BNL at next to last in his conference preseason prediction with Jeff in last place. Here are some Arties stats from that game in which the Arties led 29-0 at the half and BNL's only score came in the 4th qtr. Arties senior QB A J Reynolds was 15 of 19 for 229 yards and 4 TDs with one pick. Arties senior RB Austin Pryor picked up 187 rushing yards on 18 carries and one TD. The Arties ran 52 plays to 35 for BNL, and had 27 1st downs to just 7 for BNL.
  2. It wasn't a great start to the season for CI teams with the conference going 2-4 on opening night. There were a couple of big surprises though. Bloomington North at Mooresville - Anthony Lindsey's head coaching debut at North got off to a really rough start in their 30-27 loss to the Pioneers. North's experienced squad look more like an inexperienced JV team in the first half with fundamentals lacking, and especially in the first qtr where they found themselves in a 20-3 hole right out of the gate. Turnovers and numerous penalties got them behind the 8-ball and they never could quite dig themselves out of the hole. Columbus North at Decatur Central - The Bull Dogs were extremely impressive in huge road victory over Decatur Central which was in the 5A state finals last season. I don't know the specifics of the game, but once CN took an early lead in the 1st, they never looked back, and DC never really challenged after the Bull Dogs scored first. Bloomington South at Columbus East - With 17 new starters and opening the season on the road, Coach Gabe Johnson had to be pleased with the 27-6 win although there are still quite a few wrinkles to be ironed out. Soph QB Duncan Combs and junior RB Braylen Townsend were the offensive leaders of last season's unbeaten JV team, and they picked up where they left off in their first varsity starts with Combs going (unofficially) 15 for 23 for 130 yards and two TDs with one pick, while Townsend rushed for 192 yards on 25 carries. As expected, South's kicking game was superb with kickoffs going into or out of the end zone, and Bryce Taylor was 2 for 2 on FGs with a 53-yarder. Terre Haute South at Plainfield - The Braves opened last season with a 32-13 loss to Plainfield at home and started this season with another loss to Plainfield on the road although the game was more competitive, losing 31-27. THS had a huge advantage in the stats with 432 total yards in the game while Plainfield had 220 total yards, but three picks by the Braves did them in. Roncalli at Southport - The Cardinals were the only CI team to open at home but it made no difference as they fell to Roncalli 37-13. The Cardinals fell to Roncalli by a similar score last season so the outcome of this game was not unexpected. Terre Haute North @ Northview - As they did last season, the Patriots opened the season against Northview and it still ended up with a similar result, losing 34-20, although the score was a little closer this time around. The Patriots have now lost 14 games in a row dating back to the 2022 season.
  3. Mooresville 30 Bloomington North 27 (final) North stumbled their way through the first half with turnovers and penalties and it bit them on the butt at the end.
  4. Yes. I saw where they converted on a 4th and 10 and I thought they still had the ball. North has the ball now with 20 seconds left and need a prayer to pull it out.
  5. The Olympians did not have an answer for Braylen Townsend in the 3rd and 4th and he ate up quite a bit of clock. Bryce Taylor had an outstanding kicking game with kickoffs in the end zone and two FGs with one for 53 yards. Both teams certainly have a lot of things to work on.
  6. Mooresville 30 Bloomington North 27 (2:20, 4th) North has the ball as the game winds down.
  7. Bloomington South 27 Columbus East 6 (Final) With 17 new starters, it was a good start to the season for South. I thought the Olympians were pretty competitive for much of the game and their junior QB in 250 lb Kyson Villarreal gave the Panthers some defensive problems. South RB Braylen Townsend finished with 192 yards on 25 carries and would have probably broken the 200-yard mark if not for a cramping issue late in the 4th.
  8. Mooresville 23 Bloomington North 20 (very early 4th) North scored at the start of the 4th to tighten the game up.
  9. Where are they at time-wise right now.
  10. Bloomington South 27 Columbus East 6 (7:27, 4th) South's junior RB Braylen Townsend is having a huge game and pretty much ran the ball down East's throat on this drive with Townsend scoring the TD.
  11. Bloomington South 20 Columbus East 6 (end of 3rd) CE had a nice drive that died at the South five-yard line as they went for it on 4th down. South has the ball near midfield to start the 4th.
  12. Bloomington South 20 Columbus East 6 (7:12, 3rd) South took five minutes off the clock to start the 3rd and scored after mostly running the ball.
  13. When you look at their scores against Owen Valley during those two years, what a disparity compared to the game so far tonight.
  14. Brown County 24 Owen Valley 14 (half) I believe Brown County is coming off back-to-back winless seasons.
  15. Mooresville 20 Bloomington North 13 (5:40, 2nd) After a horrendous start to the game that was marred by Cougar turnovers and penalties, North has cut into the lead.
  16. Bloomington South 13 Columbus East 6 (half) It's anyone's game right now. South will get the ball when the 3rd begins. The FG by Bryce Taylor was adjusted to 53 yards.
  17. Columbus North 34 Decatur Central 7 (2nd) The Bull Dogs are sticking it to the Hawks, a state finalist last season, so far.
  18. Bloomington South 13 Columbus East 6 (2:39, 2nd) CE ate up much of the 2nd qtr on a drive which was aided by a PI call on South plus a 4th and 5 conversion with the TD scored on a run play. Extra point was no good.
  19. Mooresville 20 Bloomington North 3 (Near the end of the 1st) North has turned the ball over twice and have been hit with a bunch of penalties and have just 40 yards passing and no yardage on the ground so far. Columbus North 20 Decatur Center 7 (2nd)
  20. Bloomington South 13 Columbus East 0 (9:38, 2nd) With no wind, IU recruit Bryce Taylor connected on a 52-yard FG to add to South's lead.
  21. Bloomington South 10 Columbus East 0 (0:29, 1st) South forced a quick 3 and out and then scored quickly on a pass play.
  22. Mooresville 6 Bloomington North 3 (8:29, 1st)
  23. Bloomington South 3 Columbus East 0 (2:00, 1st) On their first possession of the game, South went on a long march with a mix of runs and passes to take the lead on a short FG after the drive stalled at the ten-yard line of CE.
  24. It's going to be crowded in the press box at Mooresville. WGCL, WVNI and WHCC are all covering the North game plus whoever is covering Mooresville. WCLS is covering the Brown County and Owen Valley game. You would think at least one of those stations would cover the South game.
  25. Any BNL fans on here that can give a little insight if any on BNL transfer sr 290 lb LT Junior Arellano who transferred to South. I haven't seen much on him except that he was two-year starter at BNL.
