  1. A lot of his coaching was in Florida and Louisiana but while in Evansville he coached at Harrison. Coach gets fired and is passed over for the next head coach for the coach there now. Brings high energy and will get the kids behind him.
  2. Can't find an article yet but they did name their coach last night. Charles Benintende was officially named their head coach last night at their board meeting. Fantastic dude, got to personally work with him in Evansville and is very knowledgeable. I was very sorry to see him leave but things happen. He will get numbers up and understands football better than anyone else. I can't say if he has any talent there to win but he will get the best out of his kids. Congrats Coach
  3. Hey so I am curious, is anyone on here in the know of Madison football? I am curious because they are going to hire a close friend of mine as their new head coach and I know little to nothing about them and I wanted to see does anyone know anything about them they are willing to share? Do they have much history of success or do they have anything coming up. Just looking for information coming from not knowing anything.
  4. So its not confirmed yet but Mater Dei has some foundation work started at the school by the football field. I heard they are going to build a 16 football bronze statue of Coach Goebel similiar to Bud Kilmer in the movie Varsity Blues to honor coach when he deciedes to retire. Can't wait to see it when it is finished.
  5. The lights in all of the EVSC gyms were replaced this summer but nothing has been addressed with the lighting at Enlow or Reitz
  6. Harrison, Central and Bosse are all at the same level of talent. The bottom of the conference will be really bad this year. I have lost all faith in North being able to win a big game in the playoff's. They should be at the top of the conference but if they finish 5-5 again and lost again in the sectionals all they hype is for nothing.
  7. Central will be naming the new football coach tonight. Central guy with not much coaching experience and no head coaching experience. Hope the best for the program but they have a long way ahead of them to get back to their success they once had. He must rebuild the youth system because all of their high school success came from the success of the feeder program.
  8. My vote is to have the Bloomington Schools join the SIAC. I69 makes it an easy drive. Come on down guys!
  9. Has anyone heard about Harrison and Bosse getting new turf this off season? Central and Reitz got it a few years ago and I think it is time to return Harrison and Bosse but I haven't heard anything about it.
  10. Harrison's QB will not be able to play tonight. Is sick and will miss the game tonight. Could make it more challenging for Harrison to beat Boonville
  11. Do we have anyone around here committed to the Saint Mary of the Woods college football team? I believe I saw where Sullivan's coach resigned to be the first head coach for the new program. A small college starting football giving some local kids and opportunity to play ball.
  12. So maybe I am old and out of it but what is the traditional summer conditioning/practice routine? The local school where I am is going Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 2pm to 6pm. The first 2 hours is weightlifting and the 2nd 2 hours is practice. Is this normal and what most schools are doing now or is this out of the norm? What is your schools summer schedule look like.
  13. They need to add a 6th official to Friday Night football now. The game is evolving to where 5 is not enough to cover the field. Time for the addition!
  14. VL is going to leave the SIAC and go independent. The PAC is kind of interested if Tecumseh will join the PAC in football and play in the small division. If Tecumseh will join the small division that would put them at 7 small and 7 big. With VL leaving the SIAC it leaves every school with 1 open week which would allow the PAC to play an SIAC school if they choose. Opens up the possibility of GS playing Reitz or Mater Dei or who every. VL is going to pay the 10,000$ exit fee to leave the conference. This information is coming for PAC AD's but nothing is official yet
  15. The division thing is dead for now. It is way to easy for the AD's to make schedules the way it sets up. The only way something changes is if someone is added. I do believe that if they wanted to add two schools they could. I believe the two schools that want in the most are the Bloomington schools. With I69 it makes it an easy travel just the lower level games would be the challenge. Boonville is never coming, they know they can not compete overall in the SIAC. I could see VL leaving and joining the PAC and GS jumping in their place. VL is taking a beating right now overall.
  16. Reitz will return eventually, I am not sure next year is the year but they have been good for so many years so Reitz and their staff will eventually get it turned around. In reference to transfers you never really know anything. Central had a run of getting all the great transfers and Harrison had a good few years before that.
  17. Not surprised, had heard rumors last year that he was looking to get out and go back to where he was from. Coaching in the city is very challenging. From a financial standpoint and expectations during the day.
  18. How do we think the lack of money is going to have a strain on athletic departments next season? Football is the backbone of the athletic department financially and with the past season I would think most athletic departments did not make money. Any chance games get changed because of travel expense? What is everyone's thoughts.
  19. Bosse will never leave the SIAC, Everyone is where they need to be. Right now both the PAC and SIAC are set up the way it should be.
  20. Evansville has capped it at 500 total. 250 for each team to sell. No tickets will be sold at the gate. Can not say what Jasper ,VL and Castle are doing
  21. MD had 2 kids test positive and they are related and live in the same household. This season is on life support
  22. Memorial and Mater Dei do not pay to rent the public school fields. The old superintendent dismantled that so the get to use the fields rent free.
  23. If anyone did not know already, know you know why these guys are tough to beat. When times get tough, these guys get tougher. Everyone losing their minds about social distancing and all these kids want to do is improve themselves. Signs of great coaching!
  24. For anyone that has not coached at a school that is more inner-city, you have no idea the challenges coaches face. You typically are much more than a coach at a school like this and winning football games is important but developing men is most important and the scoreboard on Friday night does not always reflect the quality of coach you are.
