In my opinion you get a great view from up top. If you are an OC the top view helps with game day alignments, coverages and depths of the 2nd level players. You can also find the game day "human tendency" Meaning my Jimmy is better than your Joe, so run the ball here or throw the ball there. Or a certain player over runs the flow of the run or jumps a given pass route, Thus you can make your adjustments accordingly to capitalize on these areas. As a DC it helps to know offensive formations, depths, and alignments. I will give our up top coach a list or I will verbalize what to look for and to let me know how the offense flows and their sub patterns or packages they are utilizing on 1st and 3rd downs. And it also helps when we have a weakness on defense and need to make a change due to a player being overmatched physically or dare I say due to lack of effort. So to reinstate my opinion... Up Top Is Good

Columbus East- The powers that be back in the beginning liked the Cleveland Browns and USC Trojans. Hence the brown and orange uniforms. The school song is the USC tune . The school began in an Olympic year so they are called the Olympians.

I believe that nominations were due this past Friday. Things may be behind schedule due to COVID. A lot of meetings are being conducted on how to have meetings if that makes sense. Hopefully the All-State process can be completed promptly.

Many of my coaching colleagues know that in addition to my football coaching duties that I own and operate Cozy Acres Golf Complex in Madison, Indiana. For some time know we have had Paul Loggan Foundation Logo Golf Balls for purchase. We are attempting to raise funds for Paul's foundation at North Central High School. Thank You For Your Support. Paul Loggan was the Athletic Director at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a father figure to many student-athletes and a friend to all that knew him. Paul was a LB coach, a true 4-3 guy. Hence his two sons Michael and William along with his daughter Samantha made up the Loggan Family Linebacker Corp. Sadly Paul was taken from us way too soon. This past April, we lost Coach Loggan to COVID-19. He was such a special person. Paul would always take time to talk, to see how you were doing, and would offer guidance and direction if needed. If you were Paul's friend, you had a friend for life. I met Paul some years back through the Indiana Football Coaches Association and the North/South All Star Game in which Paul was the Director. He both directly and indirectly made an impact upon my life. In turn, I would like to return that favor. The Family has created the Paul Loggan Foundation to assist students of North Central in times of need. Now I know it may not be your community I am directly speaking of, but I feel that there are a lot of those who support what Paul Loggan stood for. I felt compelled to do my part. As a member of the Indiana Football Community, I felt I should do my part. In addition to coaching football, our family owns a small 9 hole golf course in Madison, IN. To respond to the question about why stay in the HHC? Initially the argument form those living in the past was that Madison was one of the founders of the HHC and that the rigors of Conference Play get You ready for the IHSAA Tournament. I pulled out a confernece hanbook once and went through HHC results of all sports. In all the sports on the boys side it was like 2% and the girls was like 4% So combined it is in the neighborhood of 3% of all conference titles reside in Madison. Madison used to get some imported athletic talent when the Jefferson Proving Ground was in existence. When that closed so did the army brats school attendance. It is a mystery why the cubs stay in the HHC. They had a chance to join the EIAC when Rushville and Connersville came in. Originally the thought was that the EIAC wanted a North team and a South team (Madison). I believe the demographic make up of town is like 12,000 people. 2017 numbers says the county population is 32089. Within this county are 3 high schools. Madison, Shawe, and Southwestern. Southwestern just had a run in Boys Basketball where they were top ranked in 2A for much of the year. Nothing against the other schools but their is that "bailout or excuse" lets go to Southwestern for basketball. You don't even have to move and it does not become the IHSAA's business if you do it prior to 9th grade enrollment. Back to the thought. If Madison could find a Conference of like demographic schools I thoroughly believe that they would be competitive as well as successful in athletics. A few wins turns it around. Confidence goes up, numbers come up and expectations go up. Or lets just look at going independent. Here's my schedule - Winning Season (Probable) 7-2 Most Likely 8-1 Maybe 9-0 (With some luck and a break hear and there) Nothing against any of these programs.. I am just building a successful schedule Crawford County Connersville Scottsburg Clarksville Jennings County Owen Valley Edinburg Switzerland County Brown County If the Madison Coach had that schedule he would win a bunch of games and would be in the Hall of Fame with all those victories.
