  1. Regarding the draw it looks fair.  Jasper cannot overlook Bosse or it will be another round one exit for Jasper.

This sectional being a SIAC redux is just an unfortunate result of geography and class mix.  Memorial and Bosse are both on the cusp of 3A and that would change the look of this sectional quite a bit.

Regarding the conference:  I'm a fan of a system that improves competitive scheduling.  The cyclical nature of the sport makes that difficult to do without promotion/relegation or strength of schedule based scheduling.  Overall, I find the conference to be competitive and balanced.  Four teams make up the bottom.  One of them is defending 2A state champ MD, one is Central who just three years ago was conference champ, and one is Bosse who has given fits to most teams they have played this year.  The other, (Harrison) beat Jasper last year, so I'm not running them down.  Just a couple years ago Vincennes was trying to leave the conference for competitive reasons and now they are a week nine win away from finishing second in the conference.  That's how it goes in a deep, competitive conference like the SIAC.

I love being a closed conference.  Would I change the schedule to make it more competitive?  Yes.  Would I go back to the schedule Jasper had four years ago?  No.

Something to think about here. If Reitz, Castle, and Jasper all win Friday, Reitz wins the conference by three games again this season. That is really amazing, and shows the absolute parity of the league.

Add North to that group and five teams will be tied for second place at 6-3

In both instances (assuming these fouls are on the defense), the enforcement is half the distance to the goal. The enforcement takes the ball beyond the line to gain. 1st and goal for A from the B 3-1/2 yd. line.

Was the following play enforced incorrectly then?  It was 4th and 5 from the 8.  The play is at the 49:20 minute mark of the video.

I think the worst part about the transfer portal era isn’t even the transferring part

its seeing the fans reactions and seeing them attack high character kids for making a decision to leave.  A quick Twitter search of Mr. Allen shows a lot of support but also so many “don’t let the door hit you on the way out” “you’re a quitter” “kids these days don’t want to work for it”

it’s just effing stupid reading some of these comments.  The fans think they still own the kids playing the game for their entertainment…the players just try to do what’s best for their future…sometimes at the coaches suggestion….and it immediately turns into some person shaming them and attacking their character.

it’s just tough seeing a kid like Brady go from one of the most adored players in the state and beloved by everyone at Purdue….to seeing people immediately attack his character just weeks after praising him for doing charity work for Purdue or him just at practice next to Brees learning

  5. Would anyone be interested in a postseason that allows all teams to play into the semi-state weekend?

All teams would be allowed 14 games per year. (Semi-state winners get 15 games.  6a-5a schedule a week 10 game.)  The regular season and championship bracket would stay as is.  The extra consolation postseason games would be determined with a swiss-system tournament. This consolation tournament would exist for the purpose of creating competitive match ups and playing more football.  There would be no trophy at the end of it.  Who want's more football?

  6. The final SIAC sagarin ratings are below.  Compared to 2020/21 The conference finished weaker at the top.  The middle was about the same.  The rise of VL added a quality middle tier team to the depth of the conference.  The bottom tier was significantly worse then last year but in line with 2020.

As for the SIAC vs PAC, Calpreps lists GS and SR as underdogs against half the SIAC on a neutral field.

You don't really get time to install an offensive or defensive system prior to an all-star game. It's really just some vanilla concepts and you hope everyone knows where the ball is going. Things like blocking schemes and reads don't get developed.

Football doesn't work well for all star games but like the Powerball it's fun to imagine.

They were middle of the road when you think PAC. And I am referring to big/small school combined. I am not thinking of or even counting Pike, Princeton, Washington, etc.  If we think HH, Southridge, GS, Boonville....the only team that Boonville beat was HH and that was one play at the end of the game.  That's all.  Not saying they were bad.  It is not a shot a Boonville, just to say that of the heavy hitters of the PAC, they only beat one of them and that was very, very close.

I think I understand.  If you ignore all the bad PAC teams then don't count the close victory against HH then Boonville is mediocre.  Got it.  By that logic the PAC only had two teams this year that weren't mediocre.

The SIAC crushes the PAC?  Really?

After a mediocre PAC team beats the team in sectional that runs the table in the SIAC that is an ignorant statement.

I find it curious that you think the third best team in the pac according to sagarin is mediocre.  What does that say about the rest of the pac?  A fifth place siac team (mediocre in the literally sense) just won a 5a regional title.  What does that say about the siac?

If QB1 can pull a Willis Reed and hobble from the locker room onto the field then we have a chance.

    Who is playing QB tonight?

Again, North is in a spot to get a winning season for the first time since 2007...

This is unbelievable.  It is also true.
