Jaspers run defense has been outstanding.

Rushes by Memorial 19 for 27 yards.

Rushes by Harrison 24 for 51 yards.

Rushes by Reitz 19 for 7 yards.

Rushes by Bosse 26 for 1 yard.

Rushes by Mater Dei 16 for 24 yards.

Totals rushing 104 attempts for 110 yards. 1.05 yards per carry average.

    Pass defense has been solid.

    Passing                yards       Comp-Att-Int

    Memorial        201 yards       22-31-1

    Harrison        126 yards         ?

    Reitz            185 yards         16-23-1

    Bosse             63 yards             5-16-1

    Mater Dei     236 yards          25-38-1

Jaspers defense has been impressive so far. Offense is very good by fumbles to much if they want to win the SIAC this year. If they can fix the issue with the fumbles (5 against Mater Dei) I think they have a chance against anyone in the conference.

I'm guessing those numbers include sacks as rushes.  MD was more successful rushing then those numbers indicate.  They had around -40 yards on one drive from bad snaps.

How are the SIAC games scheduled and how often will the schedule change? Obviously, it's tough to know what games will be big 2-4 years out, but you generally have an idea. Memorial had a gauntlet to open the year and Jasper to close the year, as we've said. But is this schedule layout indefinite or subject to change every four years or so?

I have no knowledge of how the schedule was determined.  I'm guessing things they tried to stick to were rivalry week for week 9, (no change for the old SIAC) and it probably isn't a coincidence that all week 8 and 9 games are between teams in different classes.  I'm guessing none of the coaches want a potential quick turnaround playing the same sectional opponent.

As a Jasper fan the only meaningful changes I would like to see is Bosse and Memorial split on home/away since they share the same venue so the kids see Enlow each year.  MD/Reitz are already split for Jasper which is ideal.  Also I would break up the home/away sequence a bit.  For Jasper 4 of the first 5 at home then 3 road games in a row.

Regarding front loaded vs back loaded scheduling I don't see a great fix since A: it's hard to anticipate who will be top/bottom dog year in and year out and B: you have to play everybody anyway.  Look at Jasper.   Their end of the year gauntlet means two of the first three games of the year are Memorial and Reitz.  It's a bit odd to say Jasper had a "easy" front end schedule when the last 4 SIAC state championships were from those two teams.  Just shows how hard it is to anticipate which teams will rise and fall.  The only fix for that is to change the schedule annually to account for anticipated rising and falling.  Using the previous year's standings for seeding purposes would probably work best but would have obvious limitiations, The one year fall off of Memorial as an example.

Did money change hands from the guy to the hit man?

Scenario A:  Guy shows up at house with 20K in cash to give to hitman.  No exchange of money.  Do you arrest?

Scenario B:  Guy shows up at house with 20K in cash and gives it to hitman.  Money is exchanged.  Do you arrest?

Scenario .C:  Agreement is made for hitman to kill wife first and money will exchange after life insurance is collected.   Do you arrest?

(in each scenario the hitman is a undercover cop)

We are on a slippery slope to the world of Minority Report.  Do you want to live in that world?

Of course not.  I do want to live in a world where people whose conduct and actions facilitate them in committing crimes they intend to commit are arrested before they commit such crime.  An elected judge determined that happened in this case.  Did I mention the guy bought condoms before going to meet the girl at her house?  Their dialogue include plenty of innuendo and sexual messaging.  His defense entirely rest on his statement that "I was going to walk away if she was actually 13." (not verbatim).

No one should be arrested for wanting to kill their ex wife (just having the thought).  People who actively try to hire a hit man to kill their ex wife should be arrested.  In the case above the judge determined the guy tried to hire a hit man.

If you think GS’s defensive coaches had a plan, you didn’t watch the same game I did.  I think we may have fared better letting the kids call their own defense.  Usually after games like this college and NFL defensive staffs get their pink slips in the next morning.

I'm in awe hearing GS fans criticize their coaching staff.  I have always been led to believe the current coaching staff invented football.

So what was the cops response when he said do you mean 23? Why is that left out?

It likely was not left out because the scumbag cop would have had to work at duping someone else after reiterating she was 13 and the mark disconnecting.

You see, if them don’t meet their duping quota then them miss out on the opportunity to get in on “These funds (which) “paid for additional detectives, hotels, food and overtime.”

And one of the comments to this story puts it thus:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/26/magazine/sex-offender-operation-net-nanny.html

I finally got around to reading the source story that I linked above.  After the guy said "...do you mean 23?"  the article says "Was this an elaborate game? Again she claimed to be 13."  The suspect had a bench trial and upon conviction the judges remarks included “the defendant clearly expressed by words and conduct that he intended to have sex with a 13-year-old.”

The word "dividends" has been misinterpreted by both you and the article you quote in the op.  The whole quote in context is "Considering the high level of potential offense, there is a meager investment that pays huge dividends."  In this context "dividends" refers to preventing a predator from harming a victim.

Law enforcement can be reactive or proactive.  Operations such as these are attempts to be proactive, so of course there is no real "victim".  Weather or not these type of operations actually prevent crime is a fine discussion to have.

Correct....I don't think anyone is immune from a poor outcome, although the risk is certainly higher for certain demographics than others.

I agree.  There is a demographic concern specific to people with high BMI.  Stephens' BMI was 44.

Frankly this is nothing but entrapment, and needs to stop.   Think of the dividends.

Entrapment is a technical thing and the article didn't give enough details to determine if entrapment happened or not.  The part that is unclear is did the guy think he was going to that house to have a sexual relationship with a 13 year old or not?  No matter how old someone looks, if they tell you they are 13 and you arrange to have sex with them you should be arrested.

That said, once the building was complete with youth facilities at North High School it took a large chunk out of the Central youth program and the energy has shifted the last 4 or 5 year to the North program.  The fruit of that labor is on the Horizon as well.

I'm not familiar with the Evansville youth programs.  Does this mean a rise of North should coincide with a fall of Central?

Is that the reason Jasper stays down in 4A for the state tournament? Why are they not playing up in 6A?

Perhaps you don't pay attention to high school football much but Jasper hasn't exactly been hanging many banners in 4A nor have they been claiming sectional titles that they didn't win the way SR fans have in this very thread.  If Jasper was interested in banner hanging then they wouldn't have joined the SIAC.  SR did the exact opposite, joined a division they are more likely to win versus the old PAC.
