  1. Yep, participation has dropped off. We gotta get the word out I guess. I’ll make a sandwich board if one of you guys wears it. 🙂
  2. Plenty of interesting games this week. Riley vs Adams: Adams better win this one before they start the NIC north grind. Im pretty interested in the Jimtown v Central game. Kinda wondering if Central is for real. With wins against Memorial and Goshen, teams I don’t know much about but don’t think they are football powers. Jimtown will be a better gauge for me. Im thinking Marian will take the Holy War. That would put St Joe at 0-3. That probably doesn’t happen very often. I gotta believe NP will avenge the loss last year to the 59ers. I think Andreas had some pretty significant graduation losses last year, but definitely still have some play makers.
  3. I think they have about 70 kids this year including the freshman. Should be really solid on offense and young on defense. Still play same physical style. Three 300lb guys on the O-line and QB and RB retuning three year starters as well. Defense is pretty young had a good week 1 though. Hopefully just continue to solidify as they gain experience. They have a few games to get their feet under them before the meat grinder NIC north schedule starts.
  4. Now I'm gonna have to watch the Broadcastsport.net replay of the game to see who you guys are talking about. 😮
  5. Based solely on what I saw last year the answer is no and no. I think Jimtown is going to win the NIC south. I think they have been waiting for this year. We will see if it pans out for them. I think the sectional is just too tough for the Wildcats to pull it out. That being said, they did hang with pretty well with Mishawaka last year in the sectional semis.
  6. Great to see some NIC chatter on here. I’m going with: Riley over Bremen Central over Goshen (looked good on 46 game of the week maybe the hype is justified) Jimtown over Washington fairly easily I think Penn will shutout LaPorte Mishawaka over East Noble Marian over Glenn Adams who knows? NP over Clay Northridge over St Joe.
  7. So week one is in the books and we have at least a little more info to work off of. Thoughts and questions from week 1. Is Central for real with that impressive win. I gotta watch 46 game of the week on YouTube to check them out. We knew Valpo was gonna be good but Wow! Took it to Penn. I’m sure the Kingsmen will rebound. Jimtown hoping for a big year. Northwood obviously is a top notch opponent. A two TD loss, was it a closer game than the score? Anyone have any info on this game? I think the Glenn folks have elevated expectations for the season. It’s only week one, lots of games left to play. I expected Adams to show up and win this game. Putting up 34 sounded about right but giving up 35 a little surprising. Cavemen thumped Portage. I guess they reload instead of rebuild over in Mishawaka. Defense was supposed to be solid with returning starters everywhere, but putting up 42 pts was an impressive surprise with all those graduation losses. NP rolled against a down LaPorte team. Offense looked pretty good as expected but the defense was the real story. Wasn’t sure was how things would look on that side of the ball. I know that LaPorte had some kids suspended but NP defense got a game under their belts and hopefully can continue to improve.

  9. Worrying me Indian. You are slipping a little :) Here is the lineup for the week. Who you picking? Penn vs Valpo Mishawaka vs Portage New Prairie vs LaPorte Elkhart Central vs Elkhart Memorial SBSJ vs Concord SB Adams vs Northridge Jimtown vs Northwood Marian vs SB Clay SB Riley vs New Haven John Glenn vs Boone Grove Bremen vs LaVille As usual kinda shooting in the dark in week one. Lots of questions will answered after Friday night.
  10. New Prairie preview and article on their QB. Preview Quarterback
  11. Yeah they looked good. Their QB is a big dude at like 220 lbs and their RB moves good for a bigger guy too. Aggressive fast defense as well. But speed certainly isn’t anything new for City. Coach Mason and staff do a good job adding accountability and discipline.
  12. New Prairie went to Michigan City. Radtke never really shows much at these scrimmages and subs guys in and out quite a bit to get a look at a lot of different situations. The offense looked pretty solid the little the first group was in. Defense may take a little time to come together.
  13. LaPorte first three weeks: New Prairie Penn Valpo Could be a tough start for the Slicers. I heard several players suspended first three games as well. Any truth to that?
  14. He looked pretty good in our game last year. Made some nice throws and is pretty quick when he decides to take off with the ball. As far as win/loss goes for them, too many turnovers last year. Two ints and a fumble as a team against us. Obviously played a large part in the outcome. If they clean that up who knows.
  15. With week 1 fast approaching, it’s pretty quiet from the NIC folks out there. What are the expectations for the upcoming season? NP should be pretty solid I think. Got some of those big farm boys up front and some pretty decent skill guys back.
  16. Gotta add the New Prairie QB, Chase Ketterer, to the mix. He had about 2,300 total yards last year and somewhere around 30 total TDs. He was selected as the 4A IFCA Junior All State QB. Should have a solid year with a lot of key offensive players coming back.
  17. I have respect for Bremen. They usually play much larger schools each week. The score doesn’t always go how they like but they play hard each week and don’t give up. They get a lot out of their kids (in all sports). If the Cougars aren’t involved I pull for Mishawaka. Coach Kinder is carrying on the standard set by Coach Curtis. I think both teams have a similar mentality about the game. There is definitely respect and I wouldn’t call it animosity, but I think the NP farm boys have developed a little chip for SBSJ’s private school club. I would assume last years sectional semi loss will only fuel things. Geez lots of dislike for Plymouth out there. Is it because of the First Down Rrrrrockies call? When Plymouth was in a sectional with NP around 2012-2015 it was pretty fun beating them so I get it.
