  1. You hit the nail on the head. And for that reason, the system is flawed. Most programs have a two year cycle where the talent is high, followed by a two year cycle where the talent is low. The talented kids play down a class, the less talented kids play up. It makes no sense. Moving to a four year cycle would fix that problem. Eight points during that cycle bumps a program up. Private schools moving up can be justified. They can recruit a kid from anywhere. By and large, I believe that 80% of a catholic school's success comes from within. Let's face it, those catholic kids can play some football. Recruiting is just 20%. Enough for the bump up, in my opinion.
  2. Unless your name is Lyndon B. Johnson. Probably the most racist president ever............until he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Then he was deemed a hero. Allegedly, after signing the new law, he turned to the two governors in the room and said to them..........."we'll have those n-----s voting democrat for the next 200 years." It's all about the vote. Always has been, always will be. Last week, while at that gym, I was watching FOX and CNN side by side. While FOX was celebrating the start-up of high school sports on Long Island, CNN was promoting racism by marketing white on black crime. This morning, while FOX was focusing on the return of kids to the classrooms, CNN was promoting white on Asian hate crime. The more divided we become as a country, the more the Dem's have minorities wrapped around their finger.
  3. Solid football right across the border too. Van Wert and Coldwater, both state champions in 2020. Must be something in the air.
  4. Two quality programs for sure. Pound for pound.....up there with the best. There's some pretty good football being played south of Fort Wayne.
  5. Thought maybe that was the case.
  6. Kudos to the HCC for how they've progressed over the last two decades. Nowhere the force they used to be? Four different teams have won state in the last decade. I think you meant to say "nowhere the force in the highest class they used to be." With Snider's enrollment continuing to go down, they'll have to make their mark in 5a. Now it's up to Carroll and Homestead........both over 2400.
  7. Thanks for clarifying. To be honest, I have more respect for what South Adams does with 500 kids than I do what Carmel does with 5200. So yeah, pound for pound is important to me when measuring a program. The SAC has been a dominant force for four decades. I remember a time back in the 90's when radio guys were ticked that they had to waste their time against teams from the HCC. Currently? Yeah, the Zionsville upset over Dwenger wasn't a good look for the SAC. Nor was the Homestead/Noblesville game. No one ever thought the Homestead/Westfield game would be close. Like I said, the 2020 Homstead team wouldn't qualify as a Top 30 SAC team of all time. Not even Top 40.
  8. So you are disqualifying a program if they have lower enrollments? C'mon, you are smarter than you make yourself out to believe sometimes.
  9. Your thinking too much in terms of enrollment. Think pound for pound. The SAC and HCC are on equal footing. Six SAC teams have won state for crying out loud. Seven have been to the finals.
  10. Just thought of that, had to mention it after thinking about your "see how that works" comment. I'm just not going to banter back and forth for too long. I think the HCC is a great conference.
  11. Chatard struggled against Concordia in the playoffs. Would Chatard struggle to finish 5th in the SAC? Please don't bring the Homestead game up again.
  12. I'm done with this conversation. You guys brought it up and I made a case. I will end with this: HCC would probably win head to head (will never know) SAC is probably better pound for pound (speculation) Both conferences play darn good football. Much respect for HCC and their continual climb toward Central Indiana supremacy.
  13. You didn't watch the first half, you are just going by a score.
  14. Congrats. I was wondering who was going to be the first to call me out on that error.
  15. I know, the truth just sucks sometimes. I mean, if I lived in Central Indiana, I'd want to believe the worst team in the HCC is better than the best team in the SAC. I get it. You guys down south just keep playing pretend if it makes you feel better.
  16. Someone's feathers got ruffled.
  17. We're not talking about me, we're talking about the SAC and the HCC. Are you sure about that? I thought I gave you 21? I didn't know Homestead would be dumb enough to take Noblesville lightly.
  18. Who needs moral victories when you have 40 state title appearances and 21 state championships?
  19. I know you well enough to know that you have respect for the north. No one said otherwise. Unlike you, I was rooting for Noblesville. I don't care much for Homestead.........never have. The Millers were "almost" the better team that night. They fought for their lives while Homestead fought to stay awake. That tells me that Homestead wins that game 10 out of 10 with the other nine decided by double digits. I may not like Homestead, but I'll give credit where credit is due. There's not even a question that the HCC is better than the SAC in head to head competition. Now, if we're talking pound for pound, then there is no question that the SAC is better than the HCC. For those of you that don't know what pound for pound means.......this has come up before.........it means that if the SAC schools had the same enrollment as the HCC schools, then the SAC would win head to head.
  20. Homestead was bored to tears on that bus ride down to Indy en route to playing a 1-9 team. It showed on the field. The following week they outplayed the HCC's best team, Carmel, for a half without their best player on offense. You central Indiana guys will bring that game up for years. That's not true. Per capita, Fort Wayne puts more players in the NFL than Indy.........it's a statistical fact.
  21. The SAC didn't have a real dominant team this year. Homestead was good. But they wouldn't qualify as a Top 30 SAC team of all time. Dwenger beats Zionsville 9 times out of 10. That game qualifies as an upset. Don't believe me? Re-watch it. Correct. But only because they have larger enrollment. The "programs" aren't better.
  22. It's a nightmare because our political leaders think Indianapolis needs 14 interstates going in every imaginable direction out of the city. Never mind that Fort Wayne to Chicago has every bit of traffic on 30 that Indy's highways have. It's a well known fact that there is an imbalance of Indiana funds that go to Indianapolis. Pound for pound? No doubt.
  23. Not really a new concept. Russ Isaacs encouraged his players to run track when he was leading the Panthers in the 90's. Maybe they still do.
  24. I love the idea. The name is perfect. I won't bet on it happening in my lifetime though. Things that make too much sense don't ever come to fruition. I just can't imagine the SAC being so blind that they don't see the need for a change. It's not entirely impossible to see Snider, Homestead, or Carroll take the 6a crown one day, but it's one heck of an uphill battle. The likelihood of one of those teams winning 6a is 5%. With the creation of the Upstate 8, that number rockets to 30% in 4 years. Great post DT. If what you say doesn't make any sense, I'd love for an IHSAA administrator or an AD from the SAC come on here and explain why. I seriously think it would boost attendance. Snider fans have become bored with the mediocre competition, and it shows with the empty seats in the stands. I'm more likely to drive to Valpo or Penn then an I am South Side or Wayne. And to be honest, more South Side fans would show up if they were in a more competitive conference. On the surface, it appears that South Side stinks. Fans won't show up for a team that finishes perennially last. But I'd be willing to bet they would be a .500+ team in any conference not named MIC, HCC, SAC, or DAC.
