Long road trip be hanged, I believe S Spencer won't be within 2 - 3 TD's of the Warriors by the end of the game.  The Warriors are in a good spot to find themselves in the sectional final this year.  I was talking with a friend who went to Reitz.  I asked him about the football field and he said the home side is built into a hillside.  Sounds hauntingly familiar to North Knox's field.

Reitz field is nothing like North Knox's.

You're ignoring how many minutes of mat time a wrestler puts in. Let's say a varsity wrestler goes 30-15 at an average of 4 minutes per match. That's 135 minutes of wrestling time. If you weight intensity that has to be close to a football player going 15 games at 4 quarters both ways.

I am very sure that the IHSAA is not going to look at that at all.

What are your thoughts on the IHSAA prohibiting Fall sports athletes from practicing with their Winter sports teams until the Fall sport's state championship has been played?

Already, many Winter sports games in mid November get rescheduled or canceled, if a team has a long tourney run, I believe both ADs have to agree or the team without its Fall sport players could be at a severe disadvantage.

I'm particular, wrestlers also gain much needed mat and conditioning time, giving them an advantage over a wrestler who has to give an extra month to his Fall sport.

Tangentially, we are learning more and more about adolescents overusing their bodies physically and the joint/bone/brain injuries which can be chronic. Should there not be a mandatory cool down period between seasons? How many coaches use pregame shoot around to fulfill the minimum practice quota?

You used football and wrestling in your post so I will also. From the first practice to the state championship in football is 17 weeks. If the first practice for wrestling was not until after the football state championship wrestling would only have 12 weeks. If you put in the rule you wrote about you would need to even the seasons out. So are you ready to have the football state championship a few weeks sooner?

Should be at Enlow because at that point Central would have had at least 1 home game and Memorial none.

    No.

IHSAA rule for the sectional championship round is  "Championships: Host team will be the team that has played the most away games. If both teams have played the same number of away games, the bottom bracket team shall host."

If Central and Memorial both advance to the sectional championship game Memorial will have had a bye and played one game away. Central will also have a home game and then no matter who their opponent is in round two they will have an  away game. That gives both Central and Memorial one away game. Central  would be the home team because they are the team from the bottom bracket.

Since 2007, illinois football participation has dropped from 51000 to 37000.  That is a whopping 28% participation decline.

That is a huge drop off.

There are 12.7M residents of the state of Illinois .  A drop of 150,000 translates to a 1.2% drop in statewide population.

    No correlation between the two.

go back 17 years from 2007 in Illinois and there were (rounded to the nearest thousand) 198,000 live births to Illinois residents. That would make those kids juniors or seniors in 2007. 17 years ago in Illinois there were (rounded to the nearest thousand) 180,000  live births to Illinois residents. That is a difference of 18,000 kids. The numbers you provided show a drop of 14,000 kids. It looks like as a percentage of available kids there has been an increase of Illinois kids playing football.

Dont anyone look past Bosse. Dont let the record fool you. I have seen them play a couple times and their D is better than any of the other three teams in there half of the bracket. The Madison kid is a beast on both sides of the ball.

That Bosse defense gave up 21 points to Washington. That is the most points Washington has scored this year. Washington only scored more that 1 TD in one other game this year.

That Bosse defense lost to Vincennes and gave up 28 points. That is the 2nd most points Vincennes has scored this year.

That Bosse defense gave up 45 points to Central. That is the  most points Central has scored this year.

I think we overestimated the quality of football in the PAC, yet again. North Posey, South Spencer, and (for a bit) Forest Park presented real challenges to Heritage Hills and Southridge and then eventually Gibson Southern. The Titans had a good squad in 2002 that got banged up. A regional or semistate loss by the Sectional 32 winner is not beyond possibility, due in part to the weakness of the PAC.

The PAC has the 7th best record against out of conference teams.  The issue is not going to be any overall weakness of the PAC being a factor. There are some very good teams out there in the regional and semistate. Nobody that I am aware of has put together a list of the reasons why Brownstown or Lawrenceburg would not beat the winner of Sectional 32.

Student body makeup is 12.5% hispanic according to the DOE website.  I see the boys and girls basketball teams are not exactly lighting the world on fire either.  Seems that the community has no interest in high school athletics and their seems to be a total lack of school spirit at Shelbyville.

Southridge is 23% hispanic according to the DOE website. They have been to Semistate last year and won state the year before in football in 2A.  Won a boys basketball sectional two years ago in 3A. Won a wrestling sectional last year. Went to state in baseball last year in 2A. Girls won a sectional in 2A softball last year. Not sure that having a hispanic student body makes any difference.

North Vermillion already scored 21 in less than one half? I had heard that Parke Heritage was doing good this year so that is unexpected. That is 1 more point than North Vermillion scored in the whole game against Linton.

This would be an outstanding matchup given what transpired last Friday. Jasper is as good, if not close to HH in the trenches.

And related to forfeitures...I heard earlier in the week that Washington could be in the same boat as Pike Central with only 16 on the roster. So far, nothing’s been mentioned about a cancellation so I hope it doesn’t happen.

Two weeks ago Washington has 26 players dressed against Mt Vernon. Also another 6 or 7 guys in jerseys and shorts or jeans on the sideline.
