Looking at these predictions, now I understand why they put GS at #2 in the area power rankings.  They don’t have a clue!  Hendrix thinks it’ll be a 8 point game and Kyle 12…lol.  Dudes have never made a tackle in their life unless you count tackling that chocolate long john in the break room!

It will be a 40 point game.  At least.

Watching film with two fish bowls of something cold is the only way to properly game plan. Gotta be careful though, too many and we get to straying off task. Next thing you know we're six in and have a first drive script suggestion consisting of the double tight wishbone, three statue of libertys, a hook and ladder, and the ol' hidden ball play. Again.

Throw in the annexation of Puerto Rico

So let's discuss the elephant in the room.  Is there really that much separation between Heritage Hills, Mt. Vernon and Boonville?  Not saying there is or isn't but could one logical conclude these teams are pretty closely matched?

Yes, I would say very close.  While I am obviously biased, HH beats Mt. Vernon if we got to play again.  5 turnovers is hard to overcome (but we only lost by 5)

But yes, you are accurate, I believe.

I tried finding the picture of the GS pancake but no luck.  I love seeing them from the OL guys who never get enough credit.

is Doyle playing college ball? I believe he had some offers but might have been a multiple sport stud?

He is not playing.  Student at Purdue.

As a GS fan who has been on this forum since I was in high school at Gibson Southern over 10 years ago….I love this team but I can’t do this to myself again and look ahead

GS has been a contender from the south every year since 2013…like every year…top 5 ranked and all…and we do this every year because we see the potential.

I would love for GS to make it to LOS…especially since I’m traveling back to Indiana thanksgiving weekend….but let’s just take it a game at a time.

Win Today! Never settle! I believe!

It’s not about impacting the team

it’s more about the fatigue of doing the same things over and over again for the past decade for GS.  If the team is good enough to make it there, they will be there….barring an ice storm and a trip to indy

The worst part is when you get there, you lose, and you had the better team.  Of the 7 times we have played Bishop Chatard we have won only 1 time, BUT there were 2 other times that we had the better team (yeah, I know not that night blah, blah).  That was disappointing.  In 2019 when they beat us, it was obvious they had the better team, they could have beat some small colleges.  But there were a couple times in the past....it was flat out maddening.

If you get there. Win.  Especially if you face Brefeuf.  Beat the snot out of them.

I got that from Twitter dude.  That pancake is everywhere on the Twitterverse.

but it’s only the 2nd best pancake picture for a GS player I’ve seen

there was one a few years back of I believe Big Country Braden tucker….all 6’5 315lbs just laying on top of some poor kid.

our 305 lb Mark Doyle had a pretty good one in the regional game in 2019.  Belly flopped right on top of a 160 lb kid.  poor little guy.

So Mt. Vernon 6-0 won a close game against a winless team that lead most of the game.  Did Booneville play its best game of the season so far?  Has Mt. Vernon not really played anyone of strength?  What can GS expect Friday night?  I would expect it will be our toughest conference opponent of the season.  I'm sure we leave there with the win but I would expect the starters to play the full game.  Any thoughts?

Expectation?  Expect to win by at least 40.  They beat us by 8 and we turned over the ball FIVE TIMES.  You will win and win big.  They are obviously decent but they aren't at GS level.   It may not be your toughest conference game...maybe I'm wrong, but you are looking at winning by 6 scores IMO.

Geez lo weez! Now we're turning to Jesus Christ to defend the GS "superteam."

Look, no one on here accused GS of any wrongdoing. It's not like any team in Southern Indiana wouldn't have accepted those players. They just all happened to choose to play/live at GS - so it is their good fortune.

I don't think you can ignore the narrative however...and I was just wondering how that would sit with the GS faithful.

I think I have my answer in that "we don't care. It happens at P/P's all the time"

    Got it, moving on.

Great players attract great players, as you know well.

We will see how it all plays out.  The specific group has yet to win a sectional (or the conference)....my guess is that it ends very different this year.  Everything seems to be in place.

  9. HH vs GS--I'm not going to comment, I mean how can you compete with all those transfers!  I joke, seriously....I'm kidding, that was a ridiculous discussion.  HH will struggle to keep this game close if we resort back to the turnover machine we were in the first 4 games.  Our defense is good, but the DBs will have their work cut out for them for sure.

MV vs Boonville -- MV by 28

NP vs Tecumseh -- NP by 40

    NK by a few

Princeton over Washington--did Pike Central really beat Washington?

Forest Park in a close one

SR over TC in a close one

  10. I should have given a little more context....😄

This apparently all started on 231 and they ended up bailing out of the car.  There was not an incident in the football stadium, they just wanted to keep the kids safe and send them home.

Obviously we don't get this kind of excitement very often.

My suggestion is to get every hill jack in Spencer county out with their thermal imaging scopes.  Coyotes, fugitives, whatever, we will find them!

  11. Decision going to be made here whether or not to have a game tonight....4 people on foot being chased by the cops.  Everyone was sent home last night--cleared football stadium (7th grade game) out in about 10 minutes.   School was called off today because they still haven't been caught.  Phone call said they would decide about homecoming game today by 1:00.

Geez, is this like a daily thing when you live in Chicago or is it business as usual?

  12. Linton by a couple scores.

    MV by 35

I agree with the turnover margin in HH/NP.  We have been a turnover machine, if we can shut that off, we win by a score--maybe, NP appears to be really good.

    SS--probably close

GS by a bunch, they will look to make a statement after the beat down they got Friday night (big boy football can be hard on you)

    TC by 3 scores

Washington may score more in this game than they do all year combined.

One of the few programs in the state undefeated against Roncalli.

Depending on when the success factor was instituted, HH would have likely been playing in 4A against Chatard/Roncalli (might have been 5A) from 2001-2007. Playing Jasper twice in one season would've been a treat.

The local game that has never happened and looks like it never will is Heritage Hills vs. Reitz. As always don't dismiss HH or MV or SR yet against GS. Kryptonite seems to appear at the most inopportune times. That being said, I fully expect the Titans to run the table in the PAC and 3A this year.

Highest prospective PAC QB in 20 years (since Cutler; albeit, because of circumstances which prevented HH from going on a run in 1999, being a legitimate collegiate athlete prospect in three sports, and the changes in exposure/recruiting for Allen). Side note... Bob Griese's brother, Bill, has lived and is now retired in Santa Claus and can most often be found on the golf course.

If we are going to get all nostalgic, I believe we were also the first public school to beat Chatard and Roncolli after the playoff system came about in 3A.  Correct that if I'm off.

The only guarantee about playing a Kentucky team in Kentucky?  The Titans will get absolutely ZERO calls go their way.

It's a good scheduling move by Coach Hart. Traveling that far to play, bad officiating, and a tough opponent.  Dress rehearsal for all the things that come with a deep playoff run.

Unfortunately you aren't wrong, it really isn't much different than playing in Indy or having Indy refs travel south.  We got screwed over pretty bad in 2014 against Tri-West at home for semi-state.  It isn't so bad when a bad call doesn't matter, but when multiple bad calls change the outcome of a game that big.....

  15. 4 hours ago, Titan20 said:

Chatard hasn’t been in the south semi state for the past 2 years…. that’s how HH got past semi state 2 years ago…😂.  Just kidding.

But I think if you ask these seniors..they didn’t want the “stars to align”.  They wanted to play Memorial and Chatard in the postseason.  GS has beaten Memorial a few times on their way to sectional titles.  And this senior group beat Memorial 22-0 at Memorial as freshmen (without Brady).  They wanted a shot to be the first to get past Chatard.  But they’ll just have to compete with who’s ever in front of them now.

Either way… it’s going to be a fun ride the next couple of months.

I appreciate the jab, as it is deserved, of the 7 times we have played Chatard we have only beat them one time.  "We want Bama!" Sure, until you get them.   Everybody wants to play Chatard, until they do.  But as we have always said here, until the rules change we just have to get stronger, faster, better.

Regardless, enjoy the ride.  It is a crap ton of fun.

GS was as good as advertised, if not better. 68-6 hurts no matter how you put it or who you're talking about. That Allen kid is a stud. I could continue to rattle off things we already know, but I will digress. GS fans (and other PAC fans who have nothing to due over the Thanksgiving) might want to hurry up and make their hotel reservations for Indy. Would love to see them hoisting that giant trophy come season's end.

My only hope is the Hatchets learn something from this game and apply it to their next three games, all against winnable opponents. Coming out 3-0 against ND, PC and Princeton would be huge for the season before ending the season with three tough match ups against HH, Boonville and Mt. Vernon.

They are good, no doubt.  This week will show how good they really are.  If they keep this game against South Warren within a score or two (or win it) then yeah...they are crazy good.

There is a ton of football to play and there has been nothing but hype around GS for the last 3 years, but they haven't won a sectional in the last 3 years.  I say again, with Memorial out and Chatard out....the stars have aligned to get to semi-state, but they must  get out of sectional first--by the numbers they should blow through everything until they get to Semi-State.

#18 is excellent, and I am ready for him to put on the black and gold (BOILER UP!) but now he has guys catching balls they were dropping before.  I hate to say this as an HH fan but I am looking forward to watching them play....they are fun to watch.

    Here we go week 3:

    image.thumb.png.f77d426c48574f9311ba7fbea9cba8e0.png

    HH by a couple scores

Tell City by a couple, they are better than that 35-0 score showed and will likely be competitive on the small side of the PAC

    GS by a million

    MV by a million

    SS by a few

NP with the upset,  NP is a veteran team, don't overlook their QB

All of course subject to covid turning everything on its head.

WHS drops their opener against McLean Co. (KY) 18-8. Offense is still a work in progress; defense looked somewhat improved outside of some big rushing plays. McLean Co. fumbled the ball a handful of times and I would've liked to see the Hatchets land on a few more of those. Think that could've changed the outcome of the game. Line play looked improved from last year, even with losing a few seniors from last year's squad. Still plenty of room for improvement on line play in the eyes of this Old Hog...

Onward to week 3 as the Titans descend upon Hatchet Hallow from Tartarus (otherwise known as Ft. Branch). As someone who likes to think of themselves as an objective fan, I DO NOT foresee the Hatchet's putting a stop to the buzz saw that is Gibson Southern. Imagine if you will a Makita cutting into a stick of butter that had been left on the counter.

My hope is the Titans don't score triple digits and both teams come out unscathed from injury. Putting up some TDs for confidence wouldn't hurt either!

Indeed.  #18 is putting up some stupid numbers against some big schools.  Will be a test for our DBs for sure.

What did we learn this week?

    image.thumb.png.f4e215f0fac2362a2117305859c4308b.png

    GS dominates another larger school.

Heritage Hills says...passing is for sissies....back to the bone.  Can Tell City regroup for the small conference games?

Mt. Vernon.... Ready to hang with the big dogs after almost hanging a 50 burger on poor South Spencer?  Is South Spencer better than Tell City?

Is North Posey pretty good or is Princeton....Princeton?

    Forest Park....I didn't anticipate this.

Southridge...plug and play.  I guess all the scrimmage hype the Boonville kids were throwing out on twitter might have been a little premature.

It always makes me feel good when the wishbone comes out.  We played decent....I'm not sure how good TC really is.  I know they aren't the team they were last year.

I would argue that Tell City is better than South Spencer and will likely beat them by 3 scores, but time will tell.

Two things, Boonville gets out at 3 cst, they could have easily been up WV by 7:00 and ready to play by 8:00.

Also, if you're scared of Boonville, probably ought to just throw in the towel and quit the season now...

Indeed, you won't get any better playing in mediocrity.
