PAC thread is a little quiet:

    Here we go week 3:

    image.thumb.png.f77d426c48574f9311ba7fbea9cba8e0.png

    HH by a couple scores

Tell City by a couple, they are better than that 35-0 score showed and will likely be competitive on the small side of the PAC

    GS by a million

    MV by a million

    SS by a few

NP with the upset,  NP is a veteran team, don't overlook their QB

All of course subject to covid turning everything on its head.

WHS drops their opener against McLean Co. (KY) 18-8. Offense is still a work in progress; defense looked somewhat improved outside of some big rushing plays. McLean Co. fumbled the ball a handful of times and I would've liked to see the Hatchets land on a few more of those. Think that could've changed the outcome of the game. Line play looked improved from last year, even with losing a few seniors from last year's squad. Still plenty of room for improvement on line play in the eyes of this Old Hog...

Onward to week 3 as the Titans descend upon Hatchet Hallow from Tartarus (otherwise known as Ft. Branch). As someone who likes to think of themselves as an objective fan, I DO NOT foresee the Hatchet's putting a stop to the buzz saw that is Gibson Southern. Imagine if you will a Makita cutting into a stick of butter that had been left on the counter.

My hope is the Titans don't score triple digits and both teams come out unscathed from injury. Putting up some TDs for confidence wouldn't hurt either!

Indeed.  #18 is putting up some stupid numbers against some big schools.  Will be a test for our DBs for sure.

What did we learn this week?

    image.thumb.png.f4e215f0fac2362a2117305859c4308b.png

    GS dominates another larger school.

Heritage Hills says...passing is for sissies....back to the bone.  Can Tell City regroup for the small conference games?

Mt. Vernon.... Ready to hang with the big dogs after almost hanging a 50 burger on poor South Spencer?  Is South Spencer better than Tell City?

Is North Posey pretty good or is Princeton....Princeton?

    Forest Park....I didn't anticipate this.

Southridge...plug and play.  I guess all the scrimmage hype the Boonville kids were throwing out on twitter might have been a little premature.

It always makes me feel good when the wishbone comes out.  We played decent....I'm not sure how good TC really is.  I know they aren't the team they were last year.

I would argue that Tell City is better than South Spencer and will likely beat them by 3 scores, but time will tell.

Two things, Boonville gets out at 3 cst, they could have easily been up WV by 7:00 and ready to play by 8:00.

Also, if you're scared of Boonville, probably ought to just throw in the towel and quit the season now...

Indeed, you won't get any better playing in mediocrity.

Did the hatchets actually think they had a chance last year before Covid got them?  Personally I think its saved them from an arse beating!

Their sectional isn't quite the meat grinder ours is....that sectional is really up to just about anyone.  The beating would have came in regional for whoever came out of that sectional.

I would start off by wishing Gibson Southern the best of luck next season.  No ill will at all.

I remember someone saying about some of the Colts teams "if not now, when?".

Memorial and Chatard are in 4A.

Southrigdge has to take a step back due to graduation.

If HH is better, they are still not the team of 2 years ago.

Is Brady Allen the highest rated recruit ever to come out of GS?

Lawrenceburg could be strong, but they lost to PAC teams by 3 TDs the last two seasons.

No dog in the 3A fight ,so I hope they do well.

I am biased to my Patriots, but I would say with you that for Gibson Southern again--"if not now when".

With Memorial and Chatard in 4A, and #18 in his Senior season it appears that the stars may have aligned.  It is kinda hanging over his head that there hasn't been so much as a sectional the last 3 years...things may be much different for GS this year.  If they are going to make a run, now is the time.

I would, however, like to think that we could do something to stop that.

I think HH's youth league doesn't tackle until 5th grade and won't let them throw a forward pass until 7th grade. (I kid, I kid!)

I don't have a problem with 3/4th tackle, but I would rather see a smaller field and 8 man.  Maybe move the sideline to the far hash, and always put the ball on the near hash (Middle of the remaining field.)  There's too many grade school Lombardi's that want to run toss to the wide side to Johnny EarlyBloomer.  Or my personal favorite, a double-reverse with Johnny.

Watch a 4th grade team break the huddle in the middle and send a receiver to the bottom of the numbers on each side.  And some CB follows him out there.  They're essentially playing with 9 already.

It is correct that we start tackle in 5th grade.  As for the forward pass....they don't get to learn that until week 5 of their senior season and that is on special occasions.

    I like this

Have a question for flag football programs.  How many can be on the field...it is 7on7 or some other number

I was thinking the very first experience should be 5 on 5, less variables to teach kids, maybe the next year, go 7 on 7.

All kids will be required to play at least 3 plays ate snapper, quarterback, skilled player.

7 kids and they must run outside the tackles, formations don't matter....it is really just backyard football.  Everybody is an eligible receiver.  When I coached flag, I would run a "real" offensive formation.  Often wishbone, because at the time, that was our base offense.

That's a good looking schedule. Nice to see them keep playing the big boys to make them better. I'm excited to see Allen continue to develop.

Will Heritage Hills bounce back and compete with GS in the big school division? Will Boonville be a factor? Does Mount Vernon and North Posey continue their improvement and compete for division titles?

What does Southridge return? They've been on a roll lately.

Can Tell City and Forest Park build on very good years?

We should be better next year at HH.  We knew this was going to be a rough year going in.  I do think we will be competitive with GS but I can tell you that #18 will want at least that which he has not had since he has been at the helm--a sectional (at least).  Frankly, I hope that we can be their stopper.

Southridge will likely struggle a bit in 3A next year.  They lose almost all the horsepower they had this year....although they should easily win the small side of the PAC--no trouble there.

I can't speak to Forest Park, but friends in Tell City tell me that next year they will likely go back to "normal" next year.

  10. Last year for us, Danville was close in the first half last year.  2nd half we blew it open (much like the pounding that we also gave Lawrenceburg last year).  I'm not sure what they have lost since last year, but the highlights I've seen this year are impressive.  They haven't had to face the Gasser factor at DB, that kid is impressive.

Personally, I think SR wins this game, but this one will be closer than the others.   I hesitate to pin a score on it.  SR is fun to watch.  Often a team can get one or two fast positions--SR has several.  They are dangerous.

    Go Raiders!

Now, now, there were quite a few schools that were better than Chatard last year.  Let's not make Chatard out to be this big boogey man.  We are just a simple small Catholic school trying to make our community better through good religious education, service to the community, and casual athletic competitions.  Good luck to both Southridge and Lawrenceburg this weekend.  Glad the game is on Saturday.  I am looking forward to seeing Southridge's speed on display and Lawrenceburg's quarterback is always fun to watch.  Here is hoping for a clean well-played game with no injuries.

Yeah, you are right, Patriot74 is terribly wrong.  It is just amazing happenstance that Chatard had 20 kids going on to play college football last year, I mean normally they probably only have 10 or 15.  It's just a good (but casual) youth program.

and to keep this on point...GO RAIDERS!

Are this years Raiders better than last years Heritage Hill Team??

The Raiders are faster overall than we were last year.  We were fast at 2 positions, and we lost one of those guys.  The Raiders are fast at a bunch of positions.  This is a question that can never be answered (I wish we could see that game), but I personally think HH wins this game based on the line and tanks at the  FB position.   No, we could not throw to save our life, but we didn't need to and it was one of the reasons we won big--clock control.

Raiders are an excellent team and this guy is a Raiders fan for the rest of the season!  Go Raiders!

And by the way, I can promise you that the Raiders want to win this game and bring as much 3A hardware back to Huntingburg as possible.
