You say that sarcastically, ha ha and all that, yet you confidently used it as your point to make in the SIAC vs. PAC argument. All season long, all the talk was who was the best team in the area...Reitz or Gibson Southern. No argument, they were clearly the two best teams around. Yet, they both lost early to opponents who, on paper, did not seem to be near as good. If those two matchups were played 10 times each, Reitz and Gibson Southern maybe win 8 or 9 of them right? But again, that's why the games are played. And you are right, on that night, Reitz was not good enough to beat Boonville (who then lost to Memorial who previously lost to Reitz) and Gibson Southern was not good enough to beat Owen Valley (who then lost to Monrovia). That happens in sports. Sometimes in the pros, a lot of times in college, and definitely a lot of times with high school teenagers. Can't judge by one game that was played on one given night. However, would definitely like to see some SIAC schools play the PAC schedule and some PAC schools play the SIAC schedule and see what the results would be. It's either that or an All-Star game. I'd be okay with either one!

I really don't believe we are very far apart....I understand children in sports.  I have coached them.

I just get really tired of hearing about how much better the SIAC is than the PAC when there just isn't the facts that support it.

You must not know how sports work, especially with teenagers. There's a reason the games are played and not just analyzed on paper. Anybody that saw Reitz play or knew anything about them this season would know how good they were though. Boonville was also a solid team (not mediocre) and took full advantage of an "off" game for Reitz, which seemed inevitable with how they were unbeaten despite all the penalties and the injury to their QB.

Yeah, you are right, I have no idea how this works. 🙄

See the above comment, right before yours.  Boonville was a solid team, but....to repeat, "They were middle of the road when you think PAC. And I am referring to big/small school combined. I am not thinking of or even counting Pike, Princeton, Washington, etc.  If we think HH, Southridge, GS, Boonville....the only team that Boonville beat was HH and that was one play at the end of the game.  That's all.  Not saying they were bad.  It is not a shot a Boonville, just to say that of the heavy hitters of the PAC, they only beat one of them and that was very, very close."

Reitz was an excellent team especially as it was shown by their regular season schedule.  They were not, however, good enough to beat Boonville on that night.

I find it curious that you think the third best team in the pac according to sagarin is mediocre.  What does that say about the rest of the pac?  A fifth place siac team (mediocre in the literally sense) just won a 5a regional title.  What does that say about the siac?

They were middle of the road when you think PAC. And I am referring to big/small school combined. Dont listen to them, Stink. Ron's place does have good pizza, but that place is disgusting on every other aspect. (maybe the STC would fit right in!)

The best bars in Huntingburg are most definitely Yard Goat and The Gaslight. both about a block apart from eachother on 4th street.

Yard Goat is more craft/Artisan beer (microbrewery) and Gaslight is a good pizza/sports bar with a bunch of TV's and big screen projectors. If you are in town on Friday, i recommend you hit them both up.

And if you are looking for a Hotel to stay at for the night, stay on the south side of Jasper. Not huntingburg. only about 4-5 minute further drive than the only motel in huntingburg.

Ron's Place seemed like a good place for our friend based on that profile picture, but...

Yes, Gaslight is good food all around.

    Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2..3...

Heading to Southridge this week, maybe on Friday!

Need to know a local bar the Crew and I can hit up

One serving Tiger BL's or Busch Lattes and Fireball punch, not that German stuff!

Don't know much about the Hannerville Raiders this year

But sure Coach "Butter" has that Wing-T running full gear.

The last time my Stink Town Tigers played Hannerville up in the Pit

Those Raiders were so fast it was TD, TD in a lickity split.

Stink has been away for awhile......but you still hear about that Tiger "D" in every town!

The Raiders are not a tight as that team that travelled to the Pit, let's face it you all know that team was legit.

Going to be a good one on Saturday just wait and see....Stink will be Crunk by 12:30 ready to burn the ships and slaying anyone he sees

The rest of the Crew will roll into town too, you'll know when we arrive cause the smell will overtake you!!

Tiger BL's Forever & Hanner Lights NEVER!

STC, you will want to go to Ron's Place.  They have excellent pizza also.

Stink... Stink... 1... 2... Where the **** are you?!?!?!?!

Where is the Stink Town Clown this year?

There is not much more I look forward to than myself and my team being belittled by a fictional, alcoholic clown on a High School Football Forum.

the funniest part about it is that he is on the coaching staff!

Who are the players to watch on Southridge? Obviously they are a great team with only 1 loss. Can Lawrenceburg give them a game?

I haven't seen Lawrenceburg play.  I have seen Southridge play twice.  What I can tell you is that we (Heritage Hills) are a decent team and they absolutely man handled us.  We were bigger and stronger than them at virtually every position and they still torched us--twice.  Players to watch?  11 of them.  They are all fast, very well coached and extremely disciplined.  Excellent team.

I am rooting for them to roll this all the way to Lucas Oil to have their opportunity to get beat by Chatard (I wish it would work out the other way, but it won't).  Now that we are out, GO RAIDERS!

do any of these schools get there 1st ever sectional title? if any I would go TPC and then Chesterton as a close 2nd

Five schools are seeking their first-ever sectional title

    Chesterton (Sectional 10 vs. Valparaiso),

Connersville (Sectional 22 vs. New Palestine),

Pike Central (Sectional 30 vs. Owen Valley),

Traders Point Christian (Sectional 42 vs. ParkTudor)

    HammondCentral (Sectional 9 vs. Merrillville).

this is the first time in school history that Pike Central has been in the final.  My guess is that they lose by a bunch, but you never know.  Probably a running clock.....however, I would love to see them win.

How would Owen Valley fair against either team

I will add that while it will take a miracle for OV to lose Friday against Pike Central, I think they will have some trouble with a (likely) Danville team.

I would love to see Pike Central win...it would be their first sectional in history.  They have NEVER played this many games in a season in school history.

  10. The "For the Record" stuff.  This is a very appropriate game for these 2 to meet in the sectional final.  The oldest rivals in the PAC and historically speaking, the top 2 teams in the PAC. Our record against Southridge is 38 - 16 which makes them our closest competition over the last 50 years.  It has been a bit more even over the last 10 years.  None of that matters this Friday....this should be a slobberknocker and look a little different than the first one earlier in the season.  Southridge is an extremely well coached, disciplined team that is crazy fast at virtually every position.  Heritage Hills has improved since the last time they played, the question is, how much have they improved??  Should be a great environment in the jungle Friday night.

  11. I too expect this to be a close game.  With that said, Southridge is scary good.  After seeing Southridge and Gibson Southern both play, I was surprised that that game wasn't much closer.  Southridge is fast at seemingly every spot and very disciplined.

We played better on the line against Charlestown than we had all year.  We will need to play even better this week....Charlestown was a good team, Southridge is excellent.

I will admit I’ve been to OV a few times over the years as well as having them in the road. They don’t have a much tradition. Good for OV, always good to see some success after a long drought.

I’m quite familiar Pike Central, having spent a lot of time in Petersburg in my yute. We’ve been sent to Pike Central a couple of times in the tournament. Pike County was pretty much decimated when the coal industry petered out. It has been a tough situation. Again, happy to see Pike Central have a little success. If I’m not mistaken I thought I heard on Bob Lovell’s show a couple of weeks ago it was PC’s first tournament win.

No interest in arguing merits of PC being there, just happy to see a couple of teams enjoy a little success when they’ve had so little over the years. Congrats to both teams.

Pike Central had a good run in 1986 (I think), and they actually won the PAC--this is the only thing they have ever won any kind of anything in football and I believe they have only been in the semifinal twice in school history.  Being in the final is a first.

In 1986 they lost to us in the first round, I believe it was 20-0 or something like that.

Charlestown has some good speed and talent this year; however have battled some linemen injuries that have made some odd games more challenging.  Charlestown should have never lost to Providence (regardless of the forfeit); however that's a long story.  This group of guys seem to really get up for big games (especially against local rivalries); and become a bit lazy against easier (on paper) competition.  Hopefully they all realize its not win or turn your pads in.  The Pirates are celebrating 50 years of football this season and have high hopes; but we will see Friday night.  Charlestown will also always battle strength of schedule experience issues; as long as they remain in the MSC, it is what it is.  Personally, I always look forward to playing HH, they are a classy program that exposes exactly how good you think you are.  If its not a close good game Friday night, I will be greatly surprised and disappointed.

Indeed.  It doesn't seem like it has been 7 years since we last played.  I am looking forward to what I'm hoping will be an excellent game.  It appears you all have a solid team this year.
