This game is a coin flip to me. Glad its at our place for sure.  The Pats seem to be back playing the brand of football from the past.

LOL, if this is the case, you are losing by 100.  How's that for shots fired?

I don't know if either team scores 28 in this one.

I think you are wrong, but I REALLY  hope you are right!

  2. You want something from us?  Really I don't have much but here is what I think.  I think that as good as our defense has been this year, they will have to play better than they have all year to win this game.  As far as offense goes, we MUST score 28 if we are going to have any hope to win, maybe 35.  We MUST play better than we have all season, if this doesn't happen we will get torched.

Here is what I know, we have to find a consistent offense that can move the ball.  Rely too much on Jett to make a big play or two, again, we will get torched.  Jett can pull something crazy out and end up in the end zone (just a day at the office for him), but that won't work more than a time or two.  We have a few athletes that can pull off big plays, but against GS you only get 1 or 2 of those, if you are lucky.  It must be a consistent moving of the ball, which did not happen against North Posey.

LINE PLAY.  It will be the line....how will be compete snap after snap at the line.....

Brody Klem--homicidal maniac, he will want a piece of Jett, all night long and he will be a problem to deal with.  Great kid by the way.

  3. I'll throw this in here for giggles.  I feel like we will need to play better football than we have played all year to win this game.

    7:00 pm CST Kickoff

This is the 50th meeting between Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern; Heritage Hills leads the overall series 33-16.

The Patriots also faced three teams that consolidated into Gibson Southern High School in the 1972 and 1973 seasons. Heritage Hills went 0-2 vs Fort Branch, 1-1 vs Haubstadt and 2-0 vs Owensville. In the first season of Patriot Football, the Patriots went 9-1 and their only loss was to Fort Branch (15-12).

The Titans won the first three meetings in the series by beating Roger Snow’s Patriots in 1974, 1975 and 1976. The Patriots didn’t beat the Titans for the first time until 1977, which was the year Bob Ashworth became the Patriots Head Coach. The 1977 season was Bob Clayton's only season as Offensive Coordinator at Heritage Hills before he stepped into the Head Coach role. The following season Ashworth moved onto Evansville Reitz and Clayton took over the Heritage Hills program.

The Titans have won 12 of the last 18 meetings starting with a win in 2010 that snapped the Patriots streak of 21 straight wins over the Titans. Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern have played 5 overtime games in the series including a 7-0 five overtime affair in 1982.

Head to Fort Branch this Friday night to cheer on our PATRIOTS

    AND MAKE SOME NOISE!

Not sure why I get brought into all this - but, here it goes:

I don't know much about GS football history - having not really looked much at it. I feel very good about where we (SR) stand as a program and what we've accomplished. I think I read somewhere that over the past 20 years, we've brought home 10 sectional championships (?) - and for anyone that has walked through our hallways - they know we are fighting some challenges that most public schools do- but we would be no where close to the "effective enrollment" that Gibson has. (Titan32 term there) As one former Coach put it to me one time "Man...you might be listed as 3A, but you are really playing with 1A numbers" ...It is what it is - we do the best we can.

As far as tonight's game goes - Anyone worth their salt and that has watched any of the football the Titans have played this year will tell you - this years team is GOOOOD. Don't let the 2-2 record fool you. SR will need to play dang close to perfect to have a shot at keeping it competitive.

Much respect for the GS football program and the way they have built up their program (well...outside of the 2021 season, but we won't go there again lol) . Always look forward to playing them as they will expose any weaknesses that need to be addressed, and they play the game the right way.

Like you, we have learned that you only need 11 guys to play football.  It's tough, but it has to work when you don't have a choice.

That is an incredible record. How many of those 74 losses were regular season? I know we sure had some epic battles with HH during his time there. I always enjoyed making that drive and seeing a game in the Jungle, expect in 2008 when it was played in a monsoon...

Was that the sectional championship?  And it was like super low score????

GS doesn't need it...but I do....cuz that's how I roll lol.  Too bad every AD in the conference thought VL was too trashy for the PAC or I am sure you guys would get some as well.

Yes sir (on Boyle)....and Randall had plenty of love for the Titans lol.

Yeah, constantly made me puke in my mouth a bit.  😆

I would agree. I count only 11 regular season losses from '94-'11. What is the number for his entire career? HH was definitely the PAC top dog for 20+ years.

    Bob Clayton (320-74)

He could take a normal, average athlete kid and squeeze every ounce  out of him.  Back in those days, the lineman weighed a max of 170-180 lbs and would shred kids 100 lbs heavier--he formed drive in those kids.  But, things were different then, he had some coaching techniques that you couldn't get away with in today's world.  Somewhat unorthodox.  🙂

Bob Clayton..truly one of the remarkable coaches in the history of Indiana High School football.  Playing in that era...there was an aura around HH football that felt untouchable.  Those late 90's early 2000 teams were the best of the best. To be able to defeat the Patriots in 2005 at the Jungle was one of the hallmarks of my playing career...and that HH team still went on to semi state in an OT loss to Chatard.

Yeah, we literally only had a couple losses in the regular season in that entire decade (00-09).  The previous year ('04) we beat Chatard and should have won state, there are those that would say that '04 team was better than the team that won state in 2000.  That was a special time.  Bob pulled off something in a 10 year period that I don't know if has really been duplicated in rural public school football in Indiana.

  9. I thought I'd give this it's own thread.  It is a big night in Lincoln City.  We have a battle of the unbeatens on homecoming and we have the dedication for the Bob Clayton (320-74) Hall of Fame Plaza.  Should be a packed night.

    Dedication Night

    11cfab38-26e0-4443-96de-85e365bc4471.png

On Friday, September 15th, we will officially dedicate the Bob Clayton Hall of Fame Plaza and also honor one of the best all-time high school football coaches in the nation.

A winning tradition, current successes and hopeful future are all things that we want to focus on at all times when it comes to Patriot Football. This project will help us effectively establish a permanent landmark to showcase the great history of Patriot Football, while providing past, present and future Patriots a place to gather, reminisce, dream and cheer on our Patriot Football teams in seasons to come.

    Bob Clayton (320-74)

With that said, former Patriot Football Head Coach, Bob Clayton, has made a tremendous impact on so many people and the success of the program.

Please join us prior to kickoff (approx. 6:30pm CST), as we welcome Bob Clayton back to The Jungle and show our appreciation for the culture he has built within the Patriot Football program!

I would really like to see this game. Two good squads finally get to test the water. I’m leaning towards HH in the end.

Yeah, I think we will be ok.  I am still puzzled by the Southridge game week 1.  We have a good team, but are we 30 points better than a 20 senior Southridge team?  No, we don't believe so and we aren't so naive that we think the likely 2nd meeting in sectional will roll the exact same way.

This team is good and a completely different team than last year and it is a credit to chemistry.  NP has a great team and I am anxious to see what we can do against them.

If you have see the film from the Southridge game you will see that things were sloppy on both sides in the first half, that momentum could have shifted with the turnovers that we had.  2nd half we just absolutely torched them and it got away from them.  Make no mistake--I really don't believe that is representative of Southridge now.
