From 2010 to 2014 Cathedral won 5 straight state championships and sent at least two of those players to the NFL...we'll check back in a few years, I guess.

What’s your end game here? To get one of us to say New Pal beat the best Cathedral team of all-time (2019). You’re delusional if you think that’s going to happen.
Hah! Nope. Just funny the statements you are making about the last two years. Laughable really (you proved my point with 2015 comparison).

Never said they weren’t good… just said they aren’t nearly as good as this team.
Just because you dominate a watered down pandemic-year, doesn't necessarily make you the best all time Cathedral team. C'mon.
Just now, Footballking16 said:Nobody said 2019 wasn’t a good team. You asked if the 2019 team was better than the 2021 team. They weren’t, not by any measure. They weren’t better then the 2020 team either. The 2015 team had a QB commit to Maryland, an OL commit to Alabama, a RB commit to USC, and an OLB commit to Ohio State. That team wasn’t better than this years team and I have zero hesitation stating that.
just....no.

2019 had 4 FBS seniors (QB, OL, LB, S) and 2 junior (OL, WR)...I might be missing some. Just because they didn't win a title doesn't mean they weren't a good team.

Where the players went is really irrelevant. The 2020 Cathedral team owns just about every offensive single season record in school history.
Hahahahahaha. Ok

Doesn't matter. The 2020 and 2021 teams are way better than the 2019 team period.
Just because you say so? LOL

I’m talking about best all-time at Cathedral. They put a hurting on a ton of non-5A schools in the regular season.
No, I understand. I meant there is no way that is the best all-time offensive team at Cathedral. I listed the 2019 players that went FBS...am I missing someone from 2020 team?

2019 was a good team. They’re nowhere close to being as good as the 2020 and 2021 teams however. Offensively the 2020 team is as good as any Cathedral team I’ve seen, likewise with this years team defensively. A lot of the guys on the 2019 team played on the 2020 and 2022 team.
meh....I'd say 2020 5A was pretty watered down. No way 2020 team is best all time offensively. No way.

*juniors were freshmen

2020 and 2021 team are both significantly better than the 2019 team. The 2022 class has 40+ seniors and many of them contributing this year contributed as sophomores.
I realize we have hindsight with the 2019 team...but that was a very good team. QB is walk on at FBS school, LB is at an FBS school, safety could be at FBS school, went Ivy League, as did the RB. OL at an FBS school. And this current group of seniors were freshman. The TE played a lot.

and #2 would be going somewhere. ugh tragic

Well, against Terre Haute North the starters played a quarter and a half as it was a 56-0.
I am aware.

I would say they are 10-14 points better than last years team.. maybe even a field goal better than that.
That was the 2020 team.

Agreed...let a team submit full roster and dress everybody.

DC is good - Stevens is an excellent dual-threat player and they have a couple of threats to go to the house on every play - but Cathedral is otherworldly right now.
Stevens is out for the year.
Just now, Sports Freak20 said:I believe we are tremendously better than 2019.
Really? Interesting.
I watched Cathedral play in the slop at Arlington in first round. Not sure I agree. However, field conditions make it hard to have a good evaluation.

Irish by 4 TD’s. Sorry this Irish team is light years ahead of the team from 3 years ago.
How would you compare them to the 2019 team?

The IHSAA fall bulletin is available to anyone at https://www.ihsaa.org/Sports/Boys/Football. If you read it you won't have to rely on people who don't know what they are talking about for your rules knowledge.
Thanks! I have never seen that in writing before. A lot of rumors about the 75 man roster limit.

I am sure that Roncalli submitted the full varsity roster of 92 players and they can pick the 65 that they want to dress for each game, as long as they do not dress someone who is not on the full roster of 92.
I have been told it is not supposed to work that way. Fine per player to make changes.
I find it hard to believe anybody is paying those fines. Just rotating players. Maybe I’m wrong.
-
I was under the impression teams must submit 75 players that will dress for the playoffs. You don't get to submit a new 75 each week.
I have heard the reason for this is to prevent a "move-in" once the playoffs begin?

It's a JV game. Who cares?
TSFF has done the same thing, but it went unreported...because...WHO CARES?!?

You might be correct, but that's not what I was told, by someone I believe is a reliable source. Anyway, we will find out in a couple months.
The IHSAA released a memo in April about this. Not sure why everybody keeps denying it.

I get what you mean now. It's two years, but not rolling. Which is the only real issue I have with Success Factor. NP won 5A in 2018 and 2019, but they were in two different two year cycles, so no bump up to 6A. Not sure how you fix it though.

Where did you hear this? Success factor is not a rolling two year period.
Huh? Success factor has always been a rolling two year period...

Cathedral will roll through 5A. It will not be close.

I saw where Carson Steele has played and scored TD's in each of his college games for Ball State. Saw him score Saturday against Penn State in Happy Valley. In the first quarter, he caught a nice pass out in the flat on 4th down and picked up the first, trucking a Penn State DB in the process. Hope the young man continues to play well and stay healthy.
yep, very cool to see

Nope. I'm just shocked anybody would compare the last two Cathedral teams to the best all time. They weren't even the best in the state either year.
