  1. Valparaiso was close to being 6A for not only play, but for enrollment. Their enrollment is up this fall. Will be interesting to see who will be the bottom of the 6A list for enrollment, not that it matter when Valpo was at the bottom before, they were still punching above their size.
  2. DC's QB is a sophomore, who I thought the broadcast said was receiving P5 looks, I would imagine they will be back in the mix, they have been a solid program the last 5 years (losing to New Pal and Cathedral during that time). East Central bringing back anyone to challenge in the south and will them moving to 5A and Snider leaving push Harrison to the north.
  3. Next year for the DAC, at least in 6A, Ben Davis is clearly on another level, just as big, and then add in the speed and physicality at all levels, wow.
  4. Good luck to the lone Region representative. Two years in a row for a DAC title after nothing since the disco era would be AMAZING, especially against the Giants. Last year was awesome for Valpo to bring a title to the north, but in all honesty, beating an upstart Whiteland doesn’t have the same sizzle as an MIC or HCC team, let alone Ben Davis.
  5. Wow, back for another season and looking forward to the DAC doing big things in 5A again. Valpo and Merrillville will be back at the top in the region, however Valpo much better than Merrillville as the jury is out for QB1 for Merrillville. Michigan City should be much better than last year, Chesterton and LaPorte about the same last year, they won't challenge for the sectional. I agree Valpo looks like a top 10 team regardless of class. In previous years when they were the small 6A school, they knocked on the doorstep of winning the semi state.
  6. Congratulations to Valpo, great staff, team, and community working in concert.
  7. Wow, Valdez is a great kid, impressive day for him.
  8. Late hit again, wow. Tough kid, but he’s a click late on his hits.
  9. He’s tired, had to make every tackle on the drive. Definitely a cheap shot.
  10. It wasn’t meant as a bash, it was to highlight he was injured. Yes he will be good, football and baseball. Go back and look at any post here to see what bashing is going on. Congrats to him on a great HS career and big props to Mater Dei on a dominating win, great way to start of championship weekend.
  11. We all watched the game, besides Bowen obviously being hurt, Mater Dei dominated this game.
  12. He gets tackled and flops like a WR, no leg drive, typical of my knee hurts more today than last week, against an inferior opponent. I’m sure we will find out he has some type of extra injury. Last week was for Mr. Football.
  13. He was hurt a few weeks ago. That doesn’t deny the fact that Mater Dei is the better team, but he wouldn’t be going down on first contact with no leg drive, other than an illegal hit, he played tentatively most of game. Im not an Andrean person, but it’s known he was injured a few weeks ago.
  14. It’s clear Mr Football has something wrong with his knee, come on now, give the kid huge credit for playing through an obvious knee injury,
  15. Not even Lake County, the school 20 minutes to the south beat them for that title already. Here is what we know about Merrillville, unlike programs built to last, they will crumble as they continue to rely on others to beef up their team. What is their middle school team and freshman team doing Cody? Crown Point and Valpo have solid coaches, Adminstrative control and integrity that benefits their players.
  16. One more fallout for Cody, I just had to bump this thread.
  17. He has the wins to prove it, I say yes. They have cycled through a class of players and when go back to his first full year, look at how Valpo has performed, a great run. Talked about this at the beginning of the year that Valpo had the best staff in the conference and it starts with him. They keep it simple on offense and defense, same basic four man front and guarantee they will go wildcat or qb power if the game is close or they have a lead. This staff is battle tested. For the first time since Disco Fever🪩 the DAC has a legit chance at championship (excluding Hobart-former member)
  18. The Hammond and Gary pipeline is closed. Wasted to 2 great players this year, now they have maybe 1 Division 1 player 🤡
  19. Merrillville 28-14, Marshall is injured, not resting, hopefully he reruns for regional, or semi state, won’t need him until then. Mishawaka is their focus now. Valpo was completely exposed for their smallish corners, surprised more teams didn’t focus their attack there, I’m sure Merrillville will. Crown Point will have a running clock in first half, 42-7. We all knew LaPorte was a dumpster and unfortunately with their QB out, last place in DAC is their future. Buzea in year two has turned the Bulldogs into the top region team and I don’t see that changing in the future. lake Central with a nice 4th quarter comeback of Michigan City will take care of a surprisingly weak Chesterton team, 28-14. Michigan City 42-28 over Portage this week. A bounce back win after a terrible loss to Lake Central, most disappointing team in DAC based on highly recruited Hart and returning QB.
  20. Is Marshall playing tonight for Merrillville? Not that they need him to beat LaPorte. Also, LaPortes QB is out, LaPorte may not score tonight.
  21. Another week down on DAC and no surprises. Only real new from last night was that Justin Marshall was seriously injured in the third quarter last night as he ripped through Michigan City, hopefully it is not going to limit him for the postseason.
  22. We have gone down this road before, I can't imagine and know that coaches at Crown Point, Merrillville, Michigan City, Chesterton, have plenty of time to work as coaches during the day and have just as much or maybe more contact time with their players during the day than any coach, regardless of conference. They are compensated at a salary considered high for their teacher association, have just as many assistants as well, stadiums that are second to none or better than HHC or MIC teams and community/admin support equal to or better. In the next two years Crown Point will be ready to compete with HCC and MIC teams in a way a 2100 enrollment school like Valpo or Merrillville could not. Valpo battled Zionsville, battled Carmel, give them 1000 more students like Lake Central and Crown Point and they are a push to win those games.
