HNAC Week Four
from_the_sidelines007 replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The Triton player you are referring to is a very good athlete. I remember him diving for the pylon on the 2-pt conversion. On another note, as I was looking at MaxPreps and Hoosier North Conference stats, I noticed several schools - more than one - did not have stats. Is there some secret if a quarterback is whatever-for-whatever for a certain amount of yards, 'x' number of touchdowns and interceptions? Is it top secret if a back has however many yards rushing, and 'x' amount of touchdowns with whatever yards per carry? Sorry! I guess I just don't understand. Any thoughts ? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

So we all know that special teams play a big role during a high school football game. Over the first couple of weeks, I've seen LaVille's two kickers - Nettrouer and Plummer. When Triton attempted the PAT against LaVille, the kick was blocked - Then they went for a 2-point conversion on the second score. When Pioneer scored, they went for two. Seems like they've gone for two points in recent years. How are the other kickers in the league? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Every trick in the book! Nice! One would think that win should give Bremen confidence? Or am I wrong here? A big win and some confidence can a long way! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

I am intrigued by Knox v. North Judson-San Pierre and Triton v. Bremen. Redskins and Jays putting up some offensive numbers. Question is will the defense step up? Trojans are capable of putting it together. I think it will take 4 solid quarters to beat Bremen. And the Lions just showed what they can do against Marian. A quick start by Bremen could affect Triton's mental game. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

I don't recall exactly how high Pioneer got during 2018, but they did finish #22 in the final overall Sagarin rankings. It is nice to see a local, small-school doing well as we start the 2022 high school football season! Pretty cool, indeed! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Pretty impressive start to the game for LaVille. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I felt like LaVille scored everytime they had the ball in the first half!? The Plummer kid can also kick. That 45-50 yard field goal attempt had the distance, just missed a bit wide left. He getting any interest in the kicking area? I would also say that Pioneer might have picked up on something - Pass the ball! Not much real estate to be had between the tackles against that LaVille defensive line. Pioneer had that short pass for completions and the chance to move the ball. The Pioneer quarterback did okay for himself. He did try to force the one pass on the INT. Nice job by the LaVille defender to step in front then go the distance. A team may have to go short routes to move the ball down field, but it seems like it can be done if the receivers take a route through the open area. Pioneer might be young, but they can still finish in the middle of the HNAC pack. Week Four Is Just Ahead! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

The running clock can not start prior to the beginning of the second half. I refer to IHSAA Rules and Procedures for clarification: 1. Beginning with the second half of any high school football game, when the point differential between teams is at or reaches 35 points, the game clock shall convert to a running clock. A running clock is defined as a clock that does not stop during play with the exception of timeouts, scores and/or injuries. 2. Once the running clock is implemented, the clock may not revert back to standard timing protocols regardless of the score of the contest. 3. The 40 second play clock shall remain in effect throughout the contest. 4. Coaches do not have the ability to override the implementation ofthe Mercy Rule during a contest. The Referee shall notify the head coach of each school when the Mercy Rule goes into effect. The home team is responsible for notifying timing personnel of the running clock. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

HNAC Week Two

After watching LaVille play Friday, IMO LaVille's defense is its strength. They've got 11 guys that fly to the ball and a very stingy front line. We have yet to see an above average passing team to throw on the LaVille secondary. That will be a test. The offense is also very experienced. From the OLine to the backfield and receivers plus a solid quarterback that can throw the football and run the football. QB tossed 2 TDs and ran for 2 more. Teams will score on LaVille, but the offense has the tools to score 4-5 times a game. As long as they stay healthy, this team could experience success in the regular season and beyond. As long as they stay healthy! Depth could end up being crucial for this small school at the southern edge of St. Joseph County. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Well, I would say a hearty kudos to Triton's offense and Mr. Schuh and Mr. Shively on making plays. It has been mentioned on this thread that Schuh might be the best back that LaVille sees. One could see why. Schuh has great vision, has escability, power and speed to help him breakaway. I think it was well documented on this link that Triton would score, jusy how much ? I said I thought 17 was a bit much. The 14 that Triton put on LaVille's #1 defense is a great compliment to Trioton and their coaching staff! Be it #1 or not, adjustments were made and Triton was not able to score after tying the game at 14-14. In fact, before the JV teams were put in in the fourth quarter, I only remember Triton having one first down in the second half. That might have been on a penalty by LaVille? Triton will be succesful this season. Nice team! Great heart! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Well said! I was equally impressed last season and then the first week of the season I watched the LaVille QB throw four touchdown passes. On one of his passing TDs, he scrambled, then threw into traffic and the receiver made a nice catch on the sideline. He is a gifted athlete! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

LaVille's back, I think his name is DeWitt, rushed for over 230 yards and two touchdowns last week. In the big picture of things, how was the defense that both these offenses playing against? If you are playing a defense that is young and/or inexperienced with any experienced offense, that offense is probably going to have edge, and open holes for the back to make big gains. And, I do believe that LaVille's O-Line is experienced and good sized, as well. So it may be which team can make the big play - go verticle in the passing game, force timely turnovers, maybe a special teams score? If I understand correctly, are both LaVille and Triton's defense pretty good? If so, we should be in for a great game! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Yep, you are right. LaVIlle's run defense is solid. Be interesting to see how they do against a team that has a better than average passing game. As I mentioned, I just don't see 17 on LaVille's #1 defense in this game. Certainly be an interesting game. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -

Jmumm1235 . . . Are those 17 points you giving Triton against LaVille's #1 defense? From what I saw in the first week against Bremen, LaVille's #1 defense is pretty stingy. Not saying Triton can't score against LaVIlle, just not sure they score 17 against LaVille's #1 defense. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 -
