  1. I've watched LaVille a fair amount over the last few years . . . I would definitely agree the offensive line is MVP at LaVIlle. They've got some veterans playing that do a great job of playing together and are not afraid to get physical to open those holes for whoever is running. Defense has also been something LaVille is known for and is no different this season. If LaVille can play defense and run long, clocking-eating, point-producing drives that keeps Andrean's offense off the field. Hard to win if you can't score. FinePrint said it best, LaVille will not earn any respect from anyone outside the HNAC unless they actually beat the 59ers. Here's to LaVille Football earning some gosh-darn respect. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  2. Didn't indicate one was better than the other. I indicated two big differences are the fact that Andrean starter is back and LaVille is without starter. But thanks for the clarification. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  3. Two big differences in this game . . . Andrean gets QB back in time for LaVille. LaVille goes into battle without starting QB. That changes both Andrean and LaVille. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  4. It's time for the semifinal round of the IHSAA state football tournament. Defending 2A Champ Andrean at 2A No.2 LaVille is already a conversation piece and will be followed closely on Friday. The projection tool has LaVille favored by 5 points. John Harrell's site has LaVille favored by 10 points. Our games this week involving HNAC teams include: West Noble at Knox Andrean at LaVille South Central (UM) at Culver Triton at North Judson What say you? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  5. The DeWitt kids is a talented player. IMO he belongs on the First-Team All-State Team. He's got stats, he's on a winning team and he can ball! as always, the game is better from_the_sideline007
  6. To be honest, Andrean is the defending champion. Yeah, yeah that was last year, but the champ is the champ. Got to beat the champ to be the champ. With that said, LaVille's strength of schedule does not have its meat and taters on it like some schools. Andrean plays a beefier schedule, which gives them a few more nods that a team like LaVille, who for the most part plays a small-school schedule. Bremen and Glenn are fine non-conference games. Do they help make you better for a state tournament run? Time will tell. Andrean has Merrillville, Crown Point, and an Illinois schol to go with East Chicago, who I don't know anything about, as non-conference games. That is what's catching the eye of those making predictions. Now, I'm not saying that is right or wrong. Just a notion that when you have a big-time recruit on your team and play with some of the big boys, you probably going to get the benefit of the doubt when in discussion. Bottom line here is: If LaVille wants respect, they have to go out and earn it for the next six weeks. One week at a time, one game at a time. Here's to the Lancers earning some gosh-darn respect! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  7. Here is my two cents for the IHSAA games involving HNAC teams: Lakeland at Knox - Redskins too much for Lakers Whiting at LaVille - Very likely a running clock in 2H for Lancers. Winamac at Central Catholic - Knights stop Warriors North Newton at Culver - Cavs win big Triton at Pioneer - Trojans eliminate Panthers North Judson at South Newton - Most likely a running clock for Jays in 2H West Central at Caston - Trojans end Comets season HNAC goes 5-3 in week one of IHSAA Tournament. Keep the change . . . as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  8. Wow! You make it sound like Bowen is the next coming of Indiana Player of the Year. I'd venture to say that both Andrean and LaVille would relish the opportunity to play good competition. I, myself, would like to see a rematch of Andrean and LaVille. IMHO I think Andrean and LaVille on the same side of the sectional bracket is a shame. I also know that LaVille believes it has to take care of business against Whiting before they can think about Andrean and this "man playing with boys!" This, sir, is why we play the games. best of luck to everyone in the state tournament, as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  9. Ok, I'll bite. You have Andrean winning Class 2A state. John Harrell's site has LaVille having the best chance to win Class 2A. Curious . . . Do you have LaVille beating Whiting and even getting to the rematch with Andrean? I see that Whiting is 5-4 that includes a forfeit victory. Does Whiting have a defensive scheme that would slow down LaVille? And, do they have an offense that can outscore LaVille? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  10. Some additional fun as the 2022 IHSAA State Tournament begins. Let's pick a winner each week until the HNAC is eliminated from the state tournament. Friday, October 21 Games Lakeland at Knox Whiting at LaVille Winamac at Central Catholic North Newton at Culver Triton at Pioneer North Judson at South Newton West Central at Caston What say you this week? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  11. Pretty Impressive Group! Any state champions among this group to finish the season with an undefeated state title? What say you? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  12. I'll bet! With modern technology, I'm sure coaches call in favors quite often with other coaching colleagues. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  13. Since you mentioned your dad is an assistant, can,you share a little more on the film exchange? I have been told a while ago that teams exchange two films. Is that any two games someone wants to share? Is it two films the asking school picks? Is it the last two games the receiving team played? Or maybe an ask for certain games? Was ways curious ad I have never been a football coach. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  14. Seems like a modified playlist for LaVille. Not that that is a bad thing. Used the running game much of the contest. I recall four passes by LaVille. LaVille def. won the line of scrimmage. That defensive line is impressive and kept Shuman from breaking free. The offensive line opened up huge holes for the running game - I've got to believe that DeWitt and Smith had over 100 yards rushing each. QB did well directing the offense. Gotta believe that LaVille will have to throw the ball more during the state tournament in order to keep the opposition honest. Impressive season by LaVille so far! as always, the game is bettr from_the_sidelines007
  15. If the link FinePrint suggested does not work, try https://team1sports.com/CulverTV/?B=403435 This link will take you directly to that particular game. I tried it and it just worked for me. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  16. So here's my two cents for this final week of the regular season . . . Caston at Knox LaVille at Culver Pioneer at North Judson Winamac at Triton Congratulations to the Lancers on their first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference Championship. Well deserved for Coach Hostrawser and the Lancer Football team. Keep the change as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  17. That is a tough injury for the team and for the player. I watched the replay back several times and it was a typical run by the LaVille QB and a good football tackle by North Judson. If I am not mistaken, the Czarnecki kid has played QB a couple of years and moved to a diffferent position because he was needed and it was the best overall move for the team. I think this back-up will be just fine. We will see come Friday night. Guess that's why coaches say, 'Next man up' as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  18. I'm not one of those that feels that Andrean is down, I can assure you of that. I would also add that the Andrean-LaVille game should come much later in the state tournament than in the second round of the sectional. I know that in our part of the state, the Andrean-LaVille game has been a highly anticipated game since the IHSAA announced the new sectional assignments. IMO, both teams really do have a lot of talent. I would venture to say that this will be a very attractive game for high school football fans, especially this early in the season. It will very likely have a lot of statewide attention if both Andrean and LaVille both win their final regular season game and LaVille wins its opener against Whiting - Heck, it very well might be #2 v. #3. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  19. So are you implying that Andrean is an easy choice to win Class 2A? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  20. Tough draw for the Trojans. Look at it like this . . . Win two games on the road and play at home for the sectional championship! Still a chance that will happen! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  21. Thanks for the look-see! I watched it a half-dozen times. Plummer was definitely a runner on this particular play and was tackled by NJSP. NOT a malicious hit on Plummer. He was hit back to back on that right side, the second hit a little more square to the shoulder. It is unfortunate. No one wants to see the kids get hurt. It was a football play. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  22. Hard To Believe The Final Regular Season Games Have Arrived Caston at Knox LaVille at Culver Pioneer at North Judson Winamac at Triton What say you? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  23. IHSAA STATE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT Class 2A Sectional 33 (7 Teams) OCT. 21 #1 - Whiting at LaVille #2 - Wheeler at Bremen #3 - Hammond Noll at Lake Station Edison OCT. 28 #4 - Andrean at Whiting-LaVille Winner #5 - Wheeler-Bremen winner v. Noll-LSE Winner (Site To Be Determined) NOV. 4 #6 - Sectional Championship Site To Be Determined as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  24. Yep! You are correct . . . . I should have put that in with the prior information. Top 2-3 teams in opposite sides of the bracket and then blind draw the remaining teams. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  25. As we approach the state tournament draw later today, I was thinking about 'the draw' It has been discussed in many, many circles (and on GID for that matter) about seeding the tournament instead of the blind draw. The big question is how to would seeding be done? Based on records? Based on Strength of Schedule? Based on the sectional rank from the overall rating from the Sagarin Ratings? In looking at Sectional 33, which has Bremen and LaVille, along with Andrean, Hammond Noll, Lake Station, Wheeler, and Whiting, the finds were interesting to say the least. If SOS was used, the seeding would be: 1 - Andrean 2 - Bremen 3 - LaVille 4 - Whiting 5 - Wheeler 6 - Hammond Noll 7 - Lake Station If the Overall Rating From Sagarin was used, the seeding would be: 1.LaVille 2.Andrean 3.Bremen 4.Wheeler 5.Whiting 6.Lake Station 7.Hammond Noll If straight records were used, the seeding would be: 1.LaVille, 8-0 2.Andrean, 6-2 3.Bremen, 4-4 4.Whiting, 3-4* 5.Lake Station, 3-4* 6.Wheeler, 3-5 7.Hammond Noll, 0-7 *based on record v. teams within Sectional #33 With an odd number of teams, the #1 seed would get the bye. Then #2 v. #7, #3 v. #6, and #4 v. #5. The next question would be how to determine a home game to start the tournament? Would the lower number (2,3,4) be considered the home team? Anyone with an opinion? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
