  1. Pretty Impressive Group! Any state champions among this group to finish the season with an undefeated state title? What say you? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  2. I'll bet! With modern technology, I'm sure coaches call in favors quite often with other coaching colleagues. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  3. Since you mentioned your dad is an assistant, can,you share a little more on the film exchange? I have been told a while ago that teams exchange two films. Is that any two games someone wants to share? Is it two films the asking school picks? Is it the last two games the receiving team played? Or maybe an ask for certain games? Was ways curious ad I have never been a football coach. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  4. Seems like a modified playlist for LaVille. Not that that is a bad thing. Used the running game much of the contest. I recall four passes by LaVille. LaVille def. won the line of scrimmage. That defensive line is impressive and kept Shuman from breaking free. The offensive line opened up huge holes for the running game - I've got to believe that DeWitt and Smith had over 100 yards rushing each. QB did well directing the offense. Gotta believe that LaVille will have to throw the ball more during the state tournament in order to keep the opposition honest. Impressive season by LaVille so far! as always, the game is bettr from_the_sidelines007
  5. If the link FinePrint suggested does not work, try https://team1sports.com/CulverTV/?B=403435 This link will take you directly to that particular game. I tried it and it just worked for me. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  6. So here's my two cents for this final week of the regular season . . . Caston at Knox LaVille at Culver Pioneer at North Judson Winamac at Triton Congratulations to the Lancers on their first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference Championship. Well deserved for Coach Hostrawser and the Lancer Football team. Keep the change as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  7. That is a tough injury for the team and for the player. I watched the replay back several times and it was a typical run by the LaVille QB and a good football tackle by North Judson. If I am not mistaken, the Czarnecki kid has played QB a couple of years and moved to a diffferent position because he was needed and it was the best overall move for the team. I think this back-up will be just fine. We will see come Friday night. Guess that's why coaches say, 'Next man up' as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  8. I'm not one of those that feels that Andrean is down, I can assure you of that. I would also add that the Andrean-LaVille game should come much later in the state tournament than in the second round of the sectional. I know that in our part of the state, the Andrean-LaVille game has been a highly anticipated game since the IHSAA announced the new sectional assignments. IMO, both teams really do have a lot of talent. I would venture to say that this will be a very attractive game for high school football fans, especially this early in the season. It will very likely have a lot of statewide attention if both Andrean and LaVille both win their final regular season game and LaVille wins its opener against Whiting - Heck, it very well might be #2 v. #3. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  9. So are you implying that Andrean is an easy choice to win Class 2A? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  10. Tough draw for the Trojans. Look at it like this . . . Win two games on the road and play at home for the sectional championship! Still a chance that will happen! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  11. Thanks for the look-see! I watched it a half-dozen times. Plummer was definitely a runner on this particular play and was tackled by NJSP. NOT a malicious hit on Plummer. He was hit back to back on that right side, the second hit a little more square to the shoulder. It is unfortunate. No one wants to see the kids get hurt. It was a football play. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  12. Hard To Believe The Final Regular Season Games Have Arrived Caston at Knox LaVille at Culver Pioneer at North Judson Winamac at Triton What say you? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  13. IHSAA STATE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT Class 2A Sectional 33 (7 Teams) OCT. 21 #1 - Whiting at LaVille #2 - Wheeler at Bremen #3 - Hammond Noll at Lake Station Edison OCT. 28 #4 - Andrean at Whiting-LaVille Winner #5 - Wheeler-Bremen winner v. Noll-LSE Winner (Site To Be Determined) NOV. 4 #6 - Sectional Championship Site To Be Determined as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  14. Yep! You are correct . . . . I should have put that in with the prior information. Top 2-3 teams in opposite sides of the bracket and then blind draw the remaining teams. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  15. As we approach the state tournament draw later today, I was thinking about 'the draw' It has been discussed in many, many circles (and on GID for that matter) about seeding the tournament instead of the blind draw. The big question is how to would seeding be done? Based on records? Based on Strength of Schedule? Based on the sectional rank from the overall rating from the Sagarin Ratings? In looking at Sectional 33, which has Bremen and LaVille, along with Andrean, Hammond Noll, Lake Station, Wheeler, and Whiting, the finds were interesting to say the least. If SOS was used, the seeding would be: 1 - Andrean 2 - Bremen 3 - LaVille 4 - Whiting 5 - Wheeler 6 - Hammond Noll 7 - Lake Station If the Overall Rating From Sagarin was used, the seeding would be: 1.LaVille 2.Andrean 3.Bremen 4.Wheeler 5.Whiting 6.Lake Station 7.Hammond Noll If straight records were used, the seeding would be: 1.LaVille, 8-0 2.Andrean, 6-2 3.Bremen, 4-4 4.Whiting, 3-4* 5.Lake Station, 3-4* 6.Wheeler, 3-5 7.Hammond Noll, 0-7 *based on record v. teams within Sectional #33 With an odd number of teams, the #1 seed would get the bye. Then #2 v. #7, #3 v. #6, and #4 v. #5. The next question would be how to determine a home game to start the tournament? Would the lower number (2,3,4) be considered the home team? Anyone with an opinion? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  16. I think you bring up a good question. I would say, however, that you can only do so much to protect a QB. in the pocket, I get. But when they become runners, and on their own accord, that is different. In the case Friday with Plummer he was a runner and was injured on the tackle. I saw the play and it didn't APPEAR to be a malicious hit. I have not seen a replay and that was from an initial perspective. Football is physical and, unfortunately, injuries happen. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  17. Why would you say they are done of a state tournament run? Surely LaVille is not a one man team? The back up QB last night handed the ball off quite a lot and many of the other players did their job. LaVille has several good players. IMO, Plummer is also a good player that is part of a team. If Plummer is out for the season, the team will have to adjust. I'm just not sure they are done. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  18. Watched Schuh against LaVille. He was nails in that one too. Schuh definitely one of the best backs in the conference. Wouldn't be surprised if he was over 1,500 rushing yards or pretty close for the season. And, I believe he has over 100 yards rushing in every game so far this season. Would also say that DeWitt fits in that category for LaVille. He's probably near 1,100 rushing yards after last night and I believe since he finished over 100 yards against NJ that gives him six games over 100 yards. Both Schuh and DeWitt should be considered for conference MVP. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  19. LaVille definitely showed what kind of team they have. IMO the LaVille defense stepped up once again against one of the best RB in the conference and best total offenses, holding Allen to less than 60 yards in first half and about 85 yards for the game. The also kept North Judson out of the end zone in the OT and limited NJSP to about 120 rushing yards for the game and did not allow them in the end zone for the second half. Allen did have three TDs for Judson and showed that he is a very valuable young man on this team. DeWitt was nails toinght. Probably around 160 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Plummer getting injuried at the end of the third didn't seem to bother LaVille. Next man up stepped in and did a nice job running the controls. Howevrer, if Plummer is out with the injury, that takes away a lot of positions that he plays for the team - QB, P-PK, Kickoff, defense, he can play a lot of places. After watching this one, I could see both NJ and LV make a deep run in the state tournament. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  20. Thanks for the feedback. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  21. Ok, let's do a tale of the tape: Which team - NJ or LV - has the better piece of the game? Rushing Game Passing Game O Line D Line Secondary Punting Game Kicking Game (i.e PAT, FG, KICKOFF) Anything Else? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  22. Hello! Each year the guys at Gridiron DIgest work very hard to make sure that we can chat about Indiana High School Football. We can brag, support our local team(s), trash talk (within reason), and make predictions right here on Gridiron Digest! I am not one of the guys. I am not a paid-promoter. I am just a supporter of what these guys put together for the benefit of us, its loyal contributors. Right now the budget is about $1,200 short of the target for the year. If you have contributed or logged on to read, please consider making a contribution. I have made my contribution. Will you consider joining me in supporting The Gridiron Digest? I know the guys will appreciate your contribution. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  23. All: Just wondering if there was ever any resolution to a Hoosier North Athletic Conference football champion following the 2020 season? According to the John Harrell website, there were several games that did not play. I realize that Pioneer was 5-0, but never played LaVille or Winamac. LaVille was 4-1, but did not play Winamac or Triton Knox was missing a conference game, Winamac missing 2 HNAC games, and Triton 1. So several missing HNAC games due to COVID. Just wasn't sure what the schools decided to do? Thanks for any reliable input. Not looking for speculation. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  24. So, just to throw this out there . . . Back in 2005, NorthWood finished a regular season with a 3-6 record. Had a freshman QB - Skyler Titus. Not many people gave them much of a chance. Panthers win the sectional. Beat Luers for the regional title on the road. Beat Griffith then 13-0 Griffith for the semistate. Then, when not many people other than those associated with NorthWood gave them much of a chance, beat Indpls Chatard 7-0 in the state final. I realize that this is not 2005. And I'm not saying NorthWood wins the state title this year. But (And I know this has been said once or twice before) . . . On any given day! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
  25. A lot of people think this is going to be a great game! Even drew Channel 46 as the Game of the Week . . . DeWitt is not the only one that can get it done rushing the ball. Richhart, Plummer, Allen, and Smith have proven they can be effective on the ground. Plummer can throw the ball. LaVIlle has defended the run well, but still to be seen how they can play against a team that is a good passing team. Sounds like NJSP has a little of both the run game and passing game. Got one team averaging 46 points and the other offense averaging 44. And, both teams among the best in the state averagining just seven points. Gonna be a great game, folks! I'd wouldn't be surprised if they are standing a couple deep along the fence casue the stands will be full! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
