but looking it up they are not supposed to. No, a team doesn't get a first down on scoring plays in football, but they can score points once they reach the end zone. A first down is earned when the offense advances at least 10 yards in four downs, or plays, with the ball. If the offense is successful, they get another four downs to try to advance another 10 yards. If they don't make 10 yards, they turn the ball over to the other team.

it does in fact give a 1st down to the scoring team on a TD, no matter the distance, from outside the 10, and inside the 10

Linton will be very good this year I believe. With Oliver/Gennicks they will be tough. Always a tough team to play, we get them Week 2 this year as opposed to Week 3 every year, and I believe that this will continue for the foreseeable future between the Bulldogs and the Miners. We have to replace an entire backfield, but bring back most of our line and alot of our defensive players. Should be a great match up at the Roy this year.

1 Carry 12 yd Rush for #15 and a Rushing TD. If anyone is keeping these types of stats, you could also have Linemen getting Pancake Blocks(we do not have anyone counting these for our team)

The No votes came from all 3 private schools when replacing Cascade......so Covenant Christian was voted in.... this all came really quickly... if the no votes came from TC/BG then we wouldn't be having a new conference with TW and IC with those school currently.

Figured I could start a topic on some stat keeping questions that some may have on how to score a game. My first question is this. Team A has the ball on their own 20 yard line. Team A runs the ball with #23 and he advances to the 38 yard line, but holding is called on Team A at the 28 yard line. Does #23 get rushing yardage to the 28 yard line for 8 yard rushing, and then the penalty of 10 yards for holding is accessed, making the next play 1st and 12. Thanks for any answers to this questions, and if anyone else has any, please ask them here, I would love to see them.

ahhh, Encroachment, forgot about that one. that word is still not in any stat program LOL, it just says offsides .... forgive me @Bobref i was wrong, my new stat program does say Encroachment as a penalty, but still says offsides too, LOL

I am going to guess Neutral Zone Infraction LOL even though not one stat program has that listed as a penalty, its either Offsides on D or False Start on O

i do agree with you on the pricepoint of TurboStats, the initial startup can be quite a knock in the teeth. Mine came with a surface pro, which is like a tablet, as the Keyboard can unattach from it. So running stats from the sideline is still possible. As I said, I will be on the lookout for this new product, as it will work on any tablet our team has for its disposal. Thanks for the Heads up about Pressbox Stats, I look forward to seeing what all it entails and holds.

not that I am trying to hurt this new stat software, may even possibly use it in the future, but I have moved to turbostats.com for my stats software, it only works on Windows Products, so No Apple. but It is definitely robust in what it is capable of. I appreciate this post cause I will be keeping an eye on this product for the future.

I do not believe anything has been announced, The Heritage HS that shows hiring a new coach is in Georgia, not the one here in Indiana.

Shelbyville is one possiblity, i am not sure about Greenwood, I know they were in talks to join before the split up. logically it makes sense.

i do not believe that any schools have been contacted about joining, there are a couple that are out there as possibilities though.

Monrovia will bring back 6 on Offense and 8 on D, have to deal with Lutheran twice, and the Sectional seems brutal, but if any team can figure it out, it might be Monrovia. Tough schedule througout the year will help build this team. Week 1 vs Greencastle and Week 2 @Linton is always a great opener, then 7 weeks of ICC play. We shall see what the Bulldogs can bring to the table.

Tri West's enrollment isnt growing, they are smaller this classification than they were the last, where as Danville and Lebanon grew.

5/7/2024 The following is written on behalf of Beech Grove, Monrovia, Speedway, and Triton Central. This should serve as a letter of separation from the Indiana Crossroads Conference beginning in August of 2026. We plan to honor our current contracts and by laws through the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. In an effort to be transparent, we wanted to give you this information as soon as possible, but also had to allow for our school boards and administration to give their input. Beech Grove, Indian Creek, Monrovia, Speedway, Tri West and Triton Central will be the founding members of a new athletic conference. We anticipate this conference going into effect at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. This timeline prioritizes the ability for schools to honor former commitments, follow current by laws, form new conference by laws and confirm scheduling, etc. This new conference will comprise of at least six member schools with the possibility to expand in the future. We would like to thank the ICC for many successful years and our appreciation goes out to all who have been involved in making the conference a success. This is public knowledge and is to be shared.
