  1. I would bet this went through an assigner, not through a crew. The assigner found 5 guys with a license, and 3 showed. I got an email last night at 7:09 from an assigner looking for two at Shortridge.....for last night. As a new crew (2nd year) last year we had to use an assigner to fill out our games. This year we did not. But I see on event link where assigners are using individuals instead of crews. Put money that’s what happened here. And 2 guys decided to not work or more likely forgot they had a game. Some individuals not on crews, not being on a crew, I wonder about their motivation, what drives them. Maybe they remembered they forgot to get their license renewed. Maybe they had to work. Whatever it was, it was more important than working the game. Lesson here is for schools to use crews, use a crew chief, who takes care of the crew, coordinating them, getting them to the game, making sure they work together, asa crew, not just 5 guys getting together on a Friday night.
  2. I've heard from people in D1 that the two best are made by Electolux and Acme.
  3. 2 Indiana schools, pretty sure they were using Indiana officials. (Game was posted on IFOA a few weeks ago).
  4. Not a football school, but Borden used to be called the Berries, because of all the strawberry farms in the area. Sometime in the 60's, they changed to the Braves. PC concerns might have them go back to the Berrries. And don't forget....the Dubois Jeeps.
  5. Why does one team have to do the same thing as another? How far does that go? Team A passes 4 times, then Team B is expected to throw 4 times? Since Team A wants to play their 2nd team 10 plays, Team B is expected to? What if Team B doesn't want to? This gets into newspapers publishing scores of scrimmages and who scores---it has -0- relevance, down to how many yards rushing someone has. IO---keep up the good work. Someone needs to call people out.
  6. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/preps/indiana/2019/08/05/indiana-providence-high-school-football-coach-gene-sartini-dies-age-88/1922015001/ ""Other than my personal family, no one has had more influence on my personal and professional life and everything," Denison said. "The amazing thing is you could ask any one of his former players in the 40 years that he was coaching here and they would tell you the same statement. It says a lot about the man — how great of a man he was and great of a coach he was." I'd second Larry's statement. My son played for him and coached for him, he would not be half the man he has grown to be without Coach Sartini's guidance.
  7. Gene Sartini, Providence Football coach for 40 years. 268 wins, two state title game appearances, and thousands of adoring players, parents, fans and family. Godspeed, Coach.
