What would a score be if the other 7 teams formed 1 team (with adequate practice and such) and played Gibson Southern?  Just curious about the talent gap between GS and everyone else.

    Gibson Southern         42

    Sectional32                 14

    thoughts?

Its comments like this that make me want nothing more than GS to choke and get knocked out the playoffs just like every other year. What a selfish question on your part. For once, the stars align and the talent in the PAC/Sectional 32 isn't what it was every year for the past 10+ years (with the exception of GS) and now you think your team is God's greatest gift to football.  You might want to consider some bigger doors in your house to fit that inflated ego...

Not sure if this counts, but Bryan Bullington from Madison was drafted 1st overall by the Pirates in 2002. He had previously been drafted in 99 in the 37th round, but decided not to sign that year.

But trying to find who was drafted when is a MUCH bigger task than it seems. There have been a LOT of guys from this State who have played the game.

This has been the problem I have encountered also! Bullington came out of Ball State. I am really looking for the high school boys drafted from the state of Indiana, but it would be awesome if someone had a big board of every player drafted from this state.

  3. Colson Montgomery out of Southridge High School in Huntingburg/Holland, IN was just drafted 22nd Overall in the First Round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

Makes me wonder, is this the highest any high school player from the State of Indiana has ever been drafted? I did a quick google search and couldn't find much. I did see Scott Rolen was early 2nd round.

This is a football thread....but I kinda want to know how Colson Montgomery is doing.

is he going to a college? Or straight into the MLB draft? How good has he been for his career?

At any given Southridge Baseball game, there are anywhere from 6-15 MLB scouts lining the 3rd base line and behind home plate. Mets and WhiteSox seem to have the most interest out of anyone. Majority of the MLB Mock Drafts have him going in the first round, some say as high as 17th overall. Personally, I do not see him seeing the diamond at IU.

He is an unreal talent that you just have to see in person. As far as statistics, I couldn't tell you exact numbers. I do know he is the #1 player in Indiana with very high odds of winning Mr. Baseball.

I know this is a football forum - but just wanted to give a shout-out to the Southridge senior class on their 3rd straight (COVID knocked out what could have been a 4 for 4 peat for them) baseball sectional, this one in 3A after being bumped up.

This senior class, in their time in the hallways, has brought an incredible 8 sectional championships in a possible 11 tries in the "big 3" sports. (Football, basketball, and baseball).

Dating back to their freshman years, they have went

    3 for 4 in football sectionals (2017, 2018, and 2020)

    2 for 4 in basketball sectionals (2017 & 2021)

    3 for 3 in baseball (2018, 2019, & 2021)

Obviously an accomplishment like this doesn't come from just them, as they were surrounded by awesome classes in their own right - but still- a run like that I may never see again in my coaching career.

    Kuddos to them.

And the common denominator that has been on Every One of those teams is not the name everyone is thinking. Camden Gasser is one of the best all around athletes to ever come through Southridge and in a way has always been living in the shadows of Colson Montgomery. I firmly believe half of those titles are wiped off the board without Camden. Having these two in this class and the hard work and preparation they put into their respective sports has been simply fascinating to watch these last 4 years. Southridge has always been a football school. At times, a basketball school, but this class alone has made Southridge a Baseball School.

It was 2 years ago...  Webo didn't select when to win the 2 championships (they try to win every game) and Webo didn't set the guidelines of the succes factor. You won a Regional and a State title and got bumped.  The exact same thing is happening to us now.  IF we lose this weekend or next weekend, I am not (and I seriously doubt any other Webo Fan) going to troll every post about Mater Dei/Pioneer/Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers.  It is what it is, and we will move on and regroup for 3A next year.  You should focus your attention on Danville.  Lots of similarities between 2018 Webo and 2020 Danville.

Best of luck on Friday evening.

Thank you for making my case for me. If you read back on my first post, I sarcastically stated that you have to tell your kids to pick the right two years to be good! Because if you don't you get bumped.  I did not make this about Southridge, @XStar did. This is a public forum and I have no affiliation with Southridge other than being an alumni/fan. Just putting my 2 cents in on the topic at hand.

I only brought WEBO up because they just so happened to score 8 points in 2 years and avoid the SF. I'm sure they aren't the only team to ever do that.

The system is flawed and it should be a year-to-year re-class of any two consecutive successful years (6 points).

    Southridge is in 3A.

I'm not sure what Southridge being in 3A has to do with WEBO being in 2A or 3A. If you are referring to the one time we played them in the 2018 Semi-State game, that is a horrible assessment. Fact of the matter is, WEBO should have been in 3A this year if the real end goal is to "Level the playing field". Starting over every 2 years is a joke.

    Speed, Speed, Speed 1.2.3...3....3....

I'm still here just waking up coming off a 2 day coma from drinking!

Stink can't even speak on that performance, it was just UGLY!

Everyone in attendance and watching on TV, you know Stink Town is not that bad of a team!

They picked a heck of a day to play bad, and they got BEAT!

The Raiders have speed, speed, speed....and the Tigers have some as well, but those Raiders just had a different gear!

Back to Back years my Stink Town boys have been beat in the Elite 8! Not okay, but we will still celebrate!

The Tigers will be back again next year! Maybe the 3rd time vs your PAC conference will be the charm.

I'm not a bettin man, but if I was, I would bet that you will see the third PAC team in 3 years with Gibson Southern in the regional next year.

I agree.  I truly believe that if we had our normal 3500+ fans in the Enlow grandstand last week that we would be the team playing Mooresville this week instead of Central.  But c'est la vie.   Aside from that, not having the weekly tailgates and seeing friends and family at games has been a true bummer this season.   Good luck to you guys tomorrow.

I'm not insinuating that SR would not compete. I think they would have ended up around 5-4 or 4-5 in the conference depending what team they replaced, but games would have been competitive.

Your right. Thanks for answering your own question on that one! Games would have been very competitive such as coming within 3 against Castle and competing for 4 quarters against Central. Although IMO Central would be the only L. To each its own. The world may never know.

Are this years Raiders better than last years Heritage Hill Team??

That really depends who you ask. HH was one of those teams who could run it down your throat the whole game but they did not have much of a passing game at all. They had a STUD lineman that could move 2+people and get the QB/RB's 5+ yards a carry.

Southridge can throw the ball very well. There is alot of misdirection in their offense so it is hard to know who has the ball half the time. Southridge is not big by any means, but I believe this team is faster all around than the HH team from last year. I sure would love to see that matchup though. It is a toss-up IMO

I've started thinking the same thing. Half of the posts I see someone is commenting that they are actually a 2A school. It's almost like they think since they were bumped to 3A that they own 2A football in southern Indiana. I think there is respect for their program and what they've accomplished, but I don't think anyone, especially Mater Dei, is scared of them. Their game with Tell City this year is a prime example. Maybe they should play a game with MD after the postseason is over...or Jasper, Central, Castle, Memorial, or North. If you look at common opponents, and I hate to bring L-S into this, but Southridge beat L-S 28-0. MD was up 37-0 early in the 3rd when they called off the dogs...

Just curious, did you read into the Tell City team that they assembled for their sectional game against LS at all? i encourage you to check the lineups for both the game against SR and the game against LS and see that they did not have half of their starters in the sectional game. If they did, I think it is very likely that they would be playing this weekend in the regionals.

And to go along with your call for us to play MD, Jasper, etc after the year. I'm sure our guys would GLADLY accept that challenge to knock off MD at the Reitz Bowl once again as well as put it to Jasper.

Now Joe Exotic didn't want to get on the GID and bash a Patriot, specially on Vetran's Day. But this aggression can not stand.

Now did the Patriots get my Tigers last year, yeah, great team. May the Raiders get Joe Exotic's boys this year, maybe, another great team.

But top to bottom the PAC doesn't hold a candle to the EIAC. And Joe ain't talkin about football.

EIAC has the PAC beat in better Exotic dancers (The Burg), better fried chicken (FC), better pre game steak sandwhiches (R'ville), better cherry thing a lings (B'ville), better air horns (EC), better train rides (C'ville), better illegal drugs (SD) and better Chinese buffets (G'burg). And if you don't believe Joe Exotic on that last one ask Coach Butter, tell ya everything you need to know.

This....This I can get on board with!
