So if Moore is such a horrible coach, how is it that he went to a 6a school and led them to their first winning season in almost 10 yrs?  Do we all forget the season he spent up at Jeff where he turned an 0-10, 1-9 team into and 8-3 team in one season?  Now that team seems to be rolling. If he was truly a talent chaser, wouldn't he have stayed in the big school that seems to have had a good talent pool?  Just curious.

Exactly. Moore wasn’t blind from the talent when he was there and left. They are ranked a top team in 6A now

Their head coach has done a great job but he credits Moore for setting the foundation for him their first year together there.

And honestly, who would have thought Rockville and turkey run could have competed for a conference championship 2 years in a row and be ranked in the top 5 in their second year? What talent was he chasing coming to PH?

Thank you for bringing this up. To not punt in that situation is unacceptable. No plausible explanation. In the second half, PH had slowed down NV’s run game some. You punt and make them drive the field.  He’s a good coach, but that was a terrible decision.  Not one of his better coaching moves.  And don’t tell me if he would have got it, it would have been a good move.  If is was a NV coach, I’m praying that he goes for it in that situation.  NV had not established a pass game at all on Friday. Make them drive the length of the field.

More than likely the falcons would have scored either way, since we couldn’t seem to stop their run game all night.

Scenario 1: We punt the ball and it takes them longer to score(maybe, might bust another 80 yarder) and gives us less time or little to no time to score at the end of the game.

Scenario 2: We get the first down and the game is more than likely over. Bad route by Jaylen and a bad ball by White. I’d be throwing to noble johnson in that situation, he had 3 TD prior correct?

If Woody Hayes punts in that situation he would be an idiot, the wolves couldn’t stop him all night?! why wouldn’t he go for it to end the game?!?! Wolves have punted twice all season, glad to see he trusted his young men and went for the win, I think it was a good call.

There were small glimpse of good defense by the wolves in the second half, but when there was a missed assignment it was crucial.

This loss will hopefully help the wolves in the post season, as I think the linton loss helped the falcons. Will be a crazy sectional draw. Hopefully the 2 teams are on different ends of the sectional and get to face off in the championship at Parke County!

Lastly on this game, I thought it was a clean respectful smash mouth classic. From my view all kids played hard, clean, helped each other up, and had a lot of respect to one another. (The helmet to helmet has already been discussed in above post.) respect to NV

Can someone start next weeks threads? When it’s up I’ll discuss some PH players looking to play at the next level.

EDIT: if either of these teams win the sectional, how far could they go in the 1A tourney?

Long time watcher, first time poster...

I think the version of success people are looking for can be a little different. If it’s to win football games, then there is no doubt guys like Moore, King and Crabtree are highly successful. If it’s to build young men up and teach them the game of life while teaching them football, some other coaches would consider that success. But you’ll have a hard time convincing me a guy is there for the kids and not his own personal agenda if he bolts as soon as the talent drops off a little. Why not stay? It’s for the kids isn’t it?

I think an often overlooked “successful” coach is Good from Attica. Even though he doesn’t have the hardware, he gets his teams to compete and win ball games. And I don’t think a guy like Sanders would ever move on from RP. From what I’ve seen and heard RP may be moving in the right direction. Who knows, if Sanders does move on, RP could be a landing spot for one of those “successful” coaches.

This will be my last comment on this thread so we can move on to next week.

    Welcome to the posting world.

I would say that 90% of coaches at any school is there for the kids. I have had and seen coaches leave a program and still stay in contact with former players whether still playing or graduating.

But just because a coach moves on doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about the players on his team. Are you saying of a teacher takes a new roll as an admin that they don’t care about their students? Of course you aren’t. But we need to look at it that way. If I was teaching 7th grade math and wanted to better myself and became a principal at the same or different school doesn’t mean I don’t care. It means I am taking care of my family.

Thanks for your comments. Please continue to post on next weeks thread. This group can be fun with the right content!

  4. My little rant this morning. Why are so many  people obsessed with Moore changing jobs and schools to coach. Isn’t the goal in life to put yourself in the best possible position for your family and yourself? I would assume most of us here have took promotions, better paying jobs, better benefits so we could be successful and support our family. If you haven’t I’m sorry.

Look at all the coaches you know. How many have stayed at one school? If Sanders was moving on from RP to another school you would hear nothing about it. No disrespect to Sanders but the program isn’t successful.  People don’t like when Moore moves because he is successful. Once again he has put himself in that position so schools, teams, parents and fans want him. Wonder how many here that bash him would change their way of thinking if he was coming to their school?

Rant is over, let’s talk about 2019 football add something constructive to the forum. Let’s get some actually good football conversation going.

Ball never came loose during said play, Reynolds turned up field and got hit helmet to helmet ball never juggled or anything. Couldnt agree more with Madrussian. Wouldve been an ejection in the next level

    You’re wrong.

Just watched the film on my sons Hudl account on is iPad. Ball was caught and then dropped and picked up by Reynolds, 33 made an attempt to make the tackle and Reynolds dropped to take the hit and it was helmet to helmet. Wasn’t intentional   Like I said there was no celebrating a potential dirty hit on our side.

Wolves had ball inside 10 yard line 6 times and didn’t score. 4 turnover on down and 2 called back for penalties, not being set and a hold. Can’t run the ball down there we can’t beat good teams.

Wolves give up 6 huge plays on defense that lead to scores.

The facons know how to win in the crunch. Wolves needed 5 yards for a first down and games over but can’t do it.

Anthony Wood is done for year with broken collarbone.

Best game I’ve seen in 10 years. Worth the price of admissions.  Hopefully the 2 can meet again.

  6. Not going to get into argument on here, but I will say the play was on the opposite side of the field from our stands. It looked like the ball was loose. The fans where cheering because of a good hit and thought there was a chance to have the ball. I can tell you from the top row you could not tell there was a helmet to helmet hit. (Not saying ther wasn’t) but there were players between us and the play blocking most of the view. So no one was cheering because of a potentially dangerous hit. I’m sure the coaching staff will watch tape and if in fact the player did celebrate what was a deliberate head to head hit. They will address it. Like I would assume the NV coaching staff would.

  7. Great football game. PH  shot their self in the foot many times in the  first half. Should of had 2 maybe 3 more touchdown in the half. Not taking anything away from NV so don’t start jumping all over me. Seemed like PH could move the ball at will, just didn’t finish.

Defense made some adjustments at half that helped. I think sectionals will come down to who is healthy.

Also the only person you is saying PH can compete with Linton is the person who likes to troll. He will continue to do so as long as everyone feeds into it.

Great game. Now get ready for next week!

I feel like if Covington plays to the best capability, they have the talent to pull off an upset in the sectional as well.

I agree. Brown is most electric player in my opinion. My wife wants a Barrett calendar. Where they available tanka?

This game could go either way.  Barring something unforeseen, you have to think this will be a close game.  I would give NV the slight lean because of their style of play.  I think its a little more dependable.   It's likely that both teams will play each other again, with more on the line.   If they can stay healthy.

Don’t forget about Attica! If 4 is healthy they can upset both teams!

Outstanding High School coaches relish contests like the NV/PH game. There are plenty of programs that seldom, if ever experience it.

Is this the biggest game in recent history of the WRC? If not who was bigger? Number 4 and number 6 being only 25 miles apart? How well could this team compete with 2-3 a state tourney if combined?

Lots of great football in our conference for a long time

  11. My only goal for this week is there’s no belittling coaches, kids, or programs. No rumors or bs. Hate or love Moore he has done a lot for my son and his friends.

2 great teams are going to battle Friday for the conference championship.

    2 great coaches.

2 groups of great young men.

Going to be a heck of a night in Cayuga.

If wolves can stop the run, wolves 35 falcons 21.

Please excuse tanka, he is obviously not from PH and enjoys his trolling.

  13. I’m not going to get caught up in the rumor  mill. We can discuss the rumors when they become facts.

If you want to talk about x and o’s or jimmy  and joes let’s talk.

I did hear the PH jr high beat North Putnam 54 to 0 and Attica 52 to 0. A lot of these kids have never played football since there hasn’t been a youth program. So maybe things aren’t so bad in the near future.

  14. I’ll give a better recap of our game tomorrow. Logan white had a good game 5 tds had to be close to 400 yards had 1 interception.

Bollinger had 2 td close to 100 yards

kick offs were iffy tonight some onside some deep. Team did a good job covering the deep kicks.

Sv last there starting qb in the first half. I will misspell his name so I won’t he try. I believe he is a sophomore. Good arm and fun to watch.

PH defense looked pretty good tonight. Gave up a couple tds on mental mistakes.

this game is over time to start discussing what next week looks like. Everyone have a good weekend
