Marian just needs to turn the dial up on D and pray they get home, Bardo cannot beat you if their QB is on his back. With that said, Elkhart wins 35-14 Penn has backups in at halftime, 49-0 St. Joe v Washington - Do not overlook Washington if I were St. Joe. The last thing the Huskies want is to slip up and back their way into the Penn game. St. Joe wins 28-7 Adams v Riley - every time I pick one of these games the opposite happens. I am going to go Riley wins in OT 21-14  Quote
Coach Lou Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Elkhart probably won't have any problems with their last 2 opponents, but this team has regressed and did not look good against Penn. What is the issue with the O-line. We get a Big Ten recruit transfer in at wideout and a top transfer at QB but we can't take advantage of them as we can't protect. Have to get it fixed before playoffs. Quote

They did not look good against Penn because Penn is the best team they have played this year . 2 Quote
BLACKGOLD2007 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 It was a little shocking at how bad their offensive line was these past two weeks. Quote

Their play calling is the issue. They refuse to commit to run game, and majority of pass game is drop back. When a D knows your most likely going to be dropping back to pass, the D can get aggressive and send pressure. When your balanced and your mixing run, mixing screens, mixing short game with your drop back it keeps the D off balance and you get less heavy pressure looks. Right now good teams, or teams that have close to similar talent are sending pressure and daring them to try to run or quick throw into it. If you look at their scores the last couple weeks its been big plays or nothing. Now they end with 2 bad teams, the 2 worse offenses in conference. There is no way they lose either of them, but we will see if Marian and then Adams can send the pressure to cause issues for the offense. Quote
BLACKGOLD2007 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Penn 5-0 244 39 7-  0 293 74 Won 7 St. Joseph 5-0 158 33 7-  0 220 39 Won  Only difference is Penn has played Washington and St. Joe has played NP. Similar defensive outcomes but vastly different offensive results. I expect St. Joe will make plays, but Penn will likely be too much in the end. Quote

So, taking a good look is by what I saw last Friday, so yes it was shocking how bad a 6A offensive line they have and how many players they have going both way for a 6A squad. Thank you for explaining to me how play calling and the game of football works. Quote

And I don't really follow them as a team, but their games are posted on Michiana Video so they are one of the easier ones to be able to pull up weekly to check out. Quote
Coach Lou Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 I get Elkhart being committed to throwing the ball with the talent they have at receiver and the QB who they brought in. I just would think you would try and protect better if this is your offense. Â Quote
ASJCPUMA Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 The thing is they RB is not bad. One would think setting up the run would open up the pass. But, their line is not a good 6A line from what I saw when St. Joe played them Quote
Coach Lou Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Was also disappointed with the Elkhart Defense. Took a lot of risk and chances against Penn and got exploited. The Lions need to fix the O-line and Defense or it's going to be 1 and done again come sectional time. Â Quote
ASJCPUMA Posted October 11, 2025 Author Posted October 11, 2025 42-12 SJ over Washington. Set up the match up next week against Penn. More in week 9 Quote
