Mythical P/P Traveling Trophy (Next: Cathedral at Chatard)

This is a mythical P/P traveling "trophy" between all private and parochial schools in Indiana. Because we have to pick a starting date, I have chosen 1999 because Roncalli went 15-0, beat Chatard twice, Scecina, and Brebeuf. The previous season, Roncalli also beat Chatard, Cathedral, and Scecina with no losses to P/P schools.

 

A lot of extensive research went into this by hand. I used AI to double check the results and I'm 99.9999% this is the correct path that the "trophy" has traveled.

🏆 Cathedral's Dynasty (2006–2011) — 16 consecutive defenses across 6 seasons, including two state championship trophy defenses (2008 vs Dwenger, 2010 vs Dwenger). The all-time record.

 

🏰 Dwenger's Fortress (2017–2021) — 8 straight defenses, completely locking the trophy in Fort Wayne for 4+ years. Concordia and Luers couldn't crack it.

 

🌍 The Fort Wayne Exile (2012–2024) — The trophy spent 13 years in northern Indiana! After Ritter carried it to the 2012 state final, it bounced between Luers, Concordia, and Dwenger until Roncalli finally brought it home to Indy in Week 1, 2025.

 

😬 Chatard's Curse — Held the trophy 6 times, never defended it once! Every time they win it, they lose it the very next P/P game.

Friday should be a really good game. Cathedral offense starting to show some life as they are riding a big time win in Cincy vs St. X. Chatard pounded Roncalli but believe they enter Friday's contest down a key player.

This is fascinating work. It spent more time in Ft Wayne than I would have guessed.    

Do you know who else has won the state title while holding/winning the trophy?  Seems like Cathedral has several times. I think during the Ft Wayne "exile" time, only Concordia (2016), Dwenger (2018), and Luers (2023) won the title while holding the trophy.  I could be off though.
