Racist Iowa Football Culture Could Impact Recruiting

Kirk Ferentz, one of the most esteemed and revered Head Coaches in The Big ten, is watching his program take some heavy hits over allegations of racial mistreatment.

Iowa has recruited  Indianapolis very hard over the past decade and taken a lot of talent out of the state to go to Iowa City and play for the Hawkeyes.

You can bet that Allen and Brohm will jump on this and use it to their personal recruiting advantage - as they should.

Deonte Craig of Culver Military, Indianas 4th ranked recruit in class of 2020, is signed at Iowa.  Could he be flipped or have a change of heart?

Jay Higgins of Brebeuf has also signed with Iowa.   Id like to see Allen go after both players.

As I would also attest it is not a good day for the Hawkeyes, I don't feel it makes the conference look good as they are a long time member.

Any unrest at Iowa is good news for the Purdue football program, as well as IU.

Iowa recruits Indianapolis very hard, and has done quite well.  Would like to see more of those kids stay in state

Other revelations that have tumbled out in recent days underscore the controlling nature of Ferentz. Scott Dochterman of The Athletic wrote two sentences over the weekend that portray a program living in the past and afraid of player self-expression: “The program’s Twitter ban was loosened this month to allow for one pre-approved tweet from players. Last year, the program eased restrictions on hats, earrings and hoodies in the football building.”

Not long after word of the single self-approved tweet policy surfaced, Iowa magically changed its policy again to let players say what they want on the social media site. Lo and behold, many of them came to the defense of the program. (The policy change surely was an immense relief to whatever luckless soul Ferentz designated as his Twitter censor.)

I would not be surprised to see Ferentz step down after this season.  His son is in line to become the next HC, and Iowa may decide it needs to head in a completely new direction in efforts to save its recruiting.

I would attend it is a sad day for IOWA, not sure why the entire big 10 gets lumped into 1 school transgressions

The big ten already looks AWFUL from MSU and Penn St. Might as well have Iowa added to the bunch.

Those 3 programs should absolutely be embarrassed. Obviously the first two are 100% disgusting and it appears on the outside the Iowa thing is right along the lines as the other two (without the physical harm).
