Sectional scenarios

Just curious if a team can theoretically win a sectional without playing a game, ie they get a bye or 6a and both opponents drop out covid 19?

would the IHSAA withhold the trophy and just pass the team through?

Interesting question. Wonder if they would consider moving that team to another sectional close by?

Probably would award the sectional.  Think about regular seasons.  Let's take fictitious scenario using a real sectional from last season.  Note that this is all hypothetical and I'm not insinuating anything about the programs.

In Sectional 46, Park Tudor had a bye in the first round.  They played Indiana School for the Deaf in Round 2.  School for the Deaf had a roster of around 20.  If they had injuries during the season and in that first round game lost enough players to injury to make round two impossible, they would have had to forfeit the second round game.  Park Tudor would advance to the sectional final against Indy Lutheran.  They play Indy Lutheran and lose, but it comes out that Indy Lutheran had an ineligible player playing in that game.  I would expect that Indy Lutheran would have been forced to forfeit that game.  Park Tudor would move on to regionals without a win in any of the three games in the sectionals.  Yes, it's far-fecthed that it would happen that way, but I suspect that they would be award the sectional trophy and play for the regional title.
