Ohio mercy rule in action

Question

Posted

Attended the Penn at Cincinnati St. Xavier game last night.  When the score got to 35-3, the 30-pt mercy rule kicked and then when Penn scored to make it 35-10, they reverted back to normal timing.  I later read the OHSAA regs and the officials were correct.  Good job!

Interesting....so 2 differences compared to Indiana's. Here it's 35, and the score does not matter once that threshhold is crossed.

I think Indiana has it right. Only tweak I would really like to see is possibly two different thresholds for invoking the running clock.
1st Half 35 point differential.
2nd Half 28 point differential

I think we can all agree that some games need it in the first half.
