  1. Blackford was going to leave a few years ago and go to the same conference as Southern Wells and Jay County. Then Jay County backed out which caused Blackford to back out. A key to the top programs is the kids are buying in to what the coach(s) are trying to do. The kids are also held accountable for summer workouts and have great facilities. The bottom programs have struggled to get kids to show up for summer workouts and have had coaching turnover. Blackford has a coach that has had success at other schools and he has been at Blackford for a while now, but can't seem to get the kids to buy into his program. The way to fix it is to get kids and parents to believe in what the coach is trying to do.
  2. Eastbrook at Alexandria--Eastbrook finally won this past week in a thriller over Frankton but Alexandria is on a roll. Alexandria pulls out the win to go to 4-0 and prepares for the showdown next week with Ole Miss. Elwood at Blackford--Elwood has improved this year under a new coach. It is strange having both teams with a win this early in the season. In the end Elwood rolls with it and Wins this one. Mississinewa at Frankton--Mississinewa is 26th overall in the Saragin Rankings and 2nd in 3A Saragin Rankings. They have a defense that has yet to be scored on. This week Mississinewa throws another shutout and wins by at least 35. Oak Hill at Madison-Grant--OH took a thumping last week in what was expected to be a very close game. MG is rolling and looking ahead to the final game of the season against Mississinewa. This game may be the closest game of the week in the CIC. In the end MG pulls out the win but not by much.
  3. Mississinewa has won every game 35-0 and has yet to play starters the entire game.
  4. First game was running clock at the beginning of the 2nd half. Second game was a running clock not long after the start of the 3rd quarter and was never completed due to the weather. The third game was running clock about half way thru the 3rd quarter. The starting offense and defense have yet to play an entire game. Once up by 35, Mississinewa has been subbing in the JV offense and play the starting defense until the opponent takes out their starting offense. If they played the starting offense the entire game, then the score would be higher.
  5. Alexandria at Elwood--I can't remember the last time Elwood opened conference play with at least 1 win. Elwood is improving under the new coach, but they still have a lot to do. Alex rolls through this one with a running clock the 2nd half. Frankton at Eastbrook--When was the last time Eastbrook started out 0-2? This game will be low scoring and will be decided by a safety or field goal. Frankton may be favored, but with the game being at Eastbrook, Eastbrook has the edge and wins. Madison Grant at Blackford--MG is just too much for Blackford. Another running clock the second half. Oak Hill at Mississinewa--This is the CIC game of the week. Should be a good game. Mississinewa has yet to play the 1st string units the entire game. Last year the game came down to the wire with a Mississinewa goal stand so Oak Hill will be looking for revenge. Mississinewa's defense is too solid and carries Mississinewa to the win by at least 14.
  6. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger had a turf field to practice on for several years but no stands due to the Archdiocese and community saying that there wasn't enough room for visiting stands due to the close proximity of the road on the visitor's side. The school leadership had enough pressure to push the installation of stands on both sides of the existing field that they found out there was enough room for visiting stands, although small but it is big enough, along with a large home stand.
  7. Blackford at Fremont--Unfortunately, Blackford continues what may be the current longest losing streak in the State. Fremont wins. Concordia at Eastbrook--Shocked by Eastbrook getting beat by Huntington North. Can't remember the last time Eastbrook started the season 0-1. Concordia is good and a little bit bigger school that Eastbrook, but in the end Coach Adamson rights the ship and Eastbrook pulls out a close one at home. Lapel at Frankton--Frankton may be better this year but Lapel is just to much for the Eagles. Lapel wins this one. Madison Grant at Southern Wells--MG by a lot. Running clock the entire 2nd half. Mississinewa at Marion--Marion is coming off of an overtime win against Fort Wayne South. Mississinewa is coming off a dominating win over Norwell. Mississinewa has too many weapons for Marion to keep up with and Ole Miss defense is very strong and look to pitch another shutout. Mississinewa wins this one by 30. Oak Hill at Southwood--Southwood has a new coach while Oak Hill has a tenured coach. Oak Hill wins this one by a bunch with the 2nd half having a running clock. Tipton at Elwood--Elwood finally won the first game of the season. Not sure when this happened last but could have been when their current coach Sammy Mireles was a player. Tipton and Elwood games used to be a toss up and with Sammy as the coach, I think this game is the toss up game this week. I'm going with the Elwood Panthers for the win but not by much. Wabash at Alexandria--Alexandria wins this one by a bunch. Another running clock in the 2nd half this week. Overall it is nice to see Mississinewa, Eastbrook, Oak Hill, Alexandria, and Madison-Grant all being ranked inside the top 20 in their respective classes. Could this be the year that there are 3 CIC teams playing Thanksgiving Weekend?
  8. In 3A, Mississinewa shuts out Norwell and moves down in the polls. Norwell, who only won 3 games last year, moves in right behind Mississinewa in the polls. Mississinewa was ranked 5th in the final poll last season in 4A. Yes, Mississinewa lost their QB and WR, but returned the majority of their defense, offensive line, RB's, and more. No respect for Ole Miss. Guess they will just have to blow out 4A Marion this week and run the table again in the CIC, then maybe they will get some respect. Oh, Mississinewa didn't win by 50 because it was 35-0 at the half which resulted in a running clock the entire second half. Mississinewa never played their first string offense the second half and only played their first string defense part of the 3rd quarter until Norwell pulled their starting offense.
  9. Mississinewa 35 Norwell 0 Mississinewa did not play 1st string offense the second half. Running clock the entire second half. Mississinewa's starting defense played second half until Norwell took out their starting offense.
  10. Ole Miss 35 Norwell 0 --The 2nd half was a running clock. Ole Miss didn't play the 1st offense the 2nd half. Play 1st string defense for most of 3rd quarter because Norwell was playing their 1st offense. Norwell got to the 2 or 3 yard line with a minute left on the clock only to fumble in the endzone with Ole Miss recovering the ball to secure the win. Ole Miss 1st string defense might have allowed 80 yards in total offense. Any recaps of other games?
  11. Alexandria at Wes Del---Wes-Del is improving but still has a ways to go to keep up with Alexandria. Alex wins by 24. Eastern at Oak Hill--this may be the best game of the night. Both teams are evenly matched. Oak Hill pulls out a close one. Elwood at Southern Wells--both schools have first year coach's. One of them is going to get the water jug after the game poured on them. Going with Elwood to win this one but not by much. Frankton at Eastern Hancock--Frankton is getting better but Eastern Hancock is just too much. Better luck next week Eagles. Huntington North at Eastbrook--Eastbrook wins this one easily. Jay County at Blackford--Blackford continues the loosing streak to make it 11 in a row. Norwell at Mississinewa--Mississinewa has a solid defense as much of last years defense returns. Mississinewa is too much for Norwell and rolls to a win. Tri-Central at Madison Grant--MG is going to be one of the top teams in 1A this year. MG gets the win.
  12. Mississinewa wins against Kokomo. This Mississinewa team has a lot of talent and will host Leo next week. Was hoping for a Madison-Grant win as well but it didn't happen. MG you had a great season.
  13. The winner of this game will play the winner of the Mississinewa/Kokomo game. Neither of these teams are a pushover by any means. So the winner between Leo/Dwenger will have a very tough game next week. I've noticed that Dwenger has struggled this year base on their record and was wondering why and then I saw where someone commented that they were out of RB's. I'm sure that Leo would like to have a rematch with Kokomo since they lost the game earlier this year. Good luck to all teams this week as they fight to be one of the 8 teams to play next week.
  14. Mississinewa and Madison-Grant are left out of the CIC. Good luck to both teams. Mississinewa vs Kokomo--This game is a rematch of last year but is at Mississinewa this year. This will be a big test for both teams. Like Columbia City, Kokomo spent a lot of the season ranked inside the top 5. Mississinewa was ranked 5th in the final polls. Both of these teams are very, very good. Kokomo has played the tougher schedule with 5A and 6A teams included in their schedule. Mississinewa on the other hand has only played 3 4A teams all season. At the end of the game, Mississinewa pulls away and wins another sectional championship title. Madison-Grant vs Adams Central--AC is a very, very good team and have been to back to back state finals. MG has played very well this year and may have the tougher schedule. This game is going to be closer than what many think it will be. With the game being at MG, this will play a factor. MG is thirsty for a sectional title and this team has the capability of getting it done. AC wants to make it a 3 peat to the state finals and are looking forward to achieving this goal. If AC overlooks MG, it will be a very long night. In the end, MG pulls out a narrow win. I think the winner of both of these games have a good chance at playing Thanksgiving weekend.
  15. There are 3 CIC Teams left. If all 3 win they will play at home for the Championship. So here it goes Eastbrook at Bluffton--Bluffton started the season off looking really good and spent the season in the top 10 in both polls. Eastbrook is a good team but has struggled this year. In the end, Bluffton pulls out the win by a TD. Madison-Grant at North Miami--Madison-Grant runs away with this one and plays with a running clock at some point in the second half. Mississinewa at Columbia City--This game is going to be a shoot out. Columbia City started off the season hot then lost the final 4 games of the regular season. Mississinewa is 10-0 and going for history to as they try to become 11-0. Mississinewa passing game is very, very good with very few teams having an answer on how to defend it. With Mississinewa's passing game and running back by committee attack, it will be very difficult for Columbia City to keep up. In the end Mississinewa moves on by winning by 2 TDs.
  16. Let's get behind Deakon Dilts of Mississinewa and vote as much as you can before Noon on Thursday to help him be the Indy Star player of the week. Let's go CIC fans. Indiana high school football sectional first round top performers (indystar.com)
  17. Alexandria vs Bluffton--This is going to be a close game. Both teams have had great seasons. In the end Alexandria pulls it out. Eastern vs Elwood--Elwood will have another running clock at some point in the second half as Eastern cruises to a win Madison Grant vs Northfield--MG's schedule helps them a lot as they cruise to a victory. Frankton vs Eastbrook--This is going to be another close game. Regular season Eastbrook pulled out a win by a TD. This time around Frankton gets a little revenge and pulls out the win by a field goal. Hamilton Heights vs Oak Hill--If Oak Hill has everybody back, this could be a good game. But in the end Hamilton Heights is just too much for Oak Hill and pulls away late in the game for the win. Tipton vs Blackford--Tipton is down this year with only 1 win, that was over Elwood. Tipton gets the win and advances to the next round while Blackford starts talking about if they are going to get a new coach. Mississinewa vs Western--Western is usually a pretty good team, but they are down a little this year. Mississinewa is big up front with a QB that can sling the ball. The RB by committee is working really well for Ole Miss. In the end Mississinewa wins and advances to play Columbia City.
  18. Oak Hill vs Elwood--Oak Hill may have injury issues and missing players, but Elwood still isn't a match for them. Oak Hill by a bunch with running clock in the 4th. Mississinewa vs Eastbrook--This will be a good game. Eastbrook is down this year while Mississinewa has high expectations. In the end, Mississinewa pulls out the victory by at least 2 tds Frankton vs Blackford--Frankton by as much as they want. While Blackford begin searching for a new coach at the end of the season? Madison-Grant vs Alexandria--This will be another very good game. It could get interesting as Alexandria may be listening to the Mississinewa/Eastbrook scores a little more than taking care of MG as they want a share of the CIC title. In the end I think MG pulls out the win in the 4th quarter on their final drive.
  19. I was wondering the same thing. They sure have been quiet this year. On that note, Mississinewa should consider changing conferences to move to one that has mostly 4A or larger schools.
  20. Oak Hill vs Blackford--Oak Hill may have players injured but Blackford is still no match for Oak Hill. Oak Hill runs away with this one and gets back in the win column. Madison-Grant vs Eastbrook--This may be the best game of the week. Eastbrook is down this year and MG is pretty good. In the end MG wins this one by a TD and spoils homecoming for Eastbrook. Elwood vs Mississinewa--Mississinewa plays JV most of the second half with a running clock. Mississinewa wins Homecoming again. Alexandria vs Frankton--Frankton started off hot and then fizzled out. Alexandria rebounded last week and won. Alexandria by 2 TDs. By the way it is nice to see MG, Eastbrook, Alexandira, and Mississinewa all ranked in the AP and/or Coach's polls in their respective classes.
  21. Mississinewa vs Blackford--Mississinewa scores as much and as often as they want. Frankton vs Madison-Grant--Frankton is improved but MG takes the win in this one. Oak Hill vs Alexandria--Going with the Tigers this week as the Eagles have hit a losing streak. Eastbrook vs Elwood--Eastbrook is down this year but they won't struggle at all with Elwood.
  22. Kokomo has a very tough sectional with Mississinewa and Columbia City both being in Sectional 20. Jay County who is coached by Grant Zgunda and Western are also in this sectional. Marion has Craig Chambers back as their coach and gave Kokomo all they could handle while Mississinewa man handled Marion. This sectional may very well produce a state finalist.
  23. Mississinewa vs. Alexandria--This game will be closer than it should. Mississinewa by 2 TDs Eastbrook vs Blackford--Eastbrook rights the ship and hands Blackford another loss. Madison-Grant vs Elwood--MG scores as many as they want and wins big Oak Hill vs Frankton--Oak Hill won't lose 3 in a row.
  24. Blackford vs Elwood--Which team is going to get their first and possibly only win of the season? Blackford wins this one Mississinewa vs Frankton--Mississinewa wins but this will be a little closer than past years as Frankton has improved this year. Madison-Grant vs Oak Hill--This game will be close the first half and Oak Hill pulls away in the second half for the win. Alexandria vs Eastbrook--This is going to be a thriller and the closest game of the day. In the end Eastbrook makes a defensive stand for the win.
  25. Blackford at Madison-Grant--MG wins their homecoming game this year. Eastbrook at Frankton--Frankton has improved and pulls out thriller over Eastbrook Elwood at Alexandria--Alexandria scores at will. Running clock for the second half on this one. Mississinewa at Oak Hill--This game decides who is the CIC champion this year. Going to be tough close game. Mississinewa pulls it out in the 4th quarter.
