Speedway has less than 2,000. Now let's look at the schools once you get pass the wealthy suburbs of Indy. What I see is Heritage Hills, Cascade, Tell City, Eastern, Northwestern, Manchester, North Putnam, Argos... The list goes on.

Where is Warren? Lawrence Central? Jeff? Elkhart? I mean Elkhart just consolidated... One would think they should be at the top of the list!!!

I have taught/coached at a lot of schools. Some were in a wealthy community, some in a poor community. Some were large corporations and others were small. There are a lot of factors that go into a school corporation being successful academically. One of the last factors would be school corporation size.

The most important would be parent involvement. So how about we start by fixing that.

  2. Honestly, I could care less if the kid was kicked off the team or not. He doesn't want to be at a school or football program where some pedophile was send messages to his little sister. I don't see why anyone couldn't understand that. Shame on IC for not allowing the transfer and shame on the IHSAA for not siding with the student.

One of the things the Indiana Football Officials Association does to support its members in their never-ending effort to get better is produce and distribute a weekly training video. It has 10 or so video clips of plays from the preceding week’s games that illustrate mechanics issues, rules interpretations, and judgment calls. This video is distributed to the 700 or so members of the IFOA — most of the people you see wearing stripes on Friday nights. These weekly videos are an important part of our in-season training.

The IFOA needs your help. On a given Friday night there are 150+ games. They produce a wealth of useful information for officials. The problem is finding those plays in that mountain of video. This is where you come in. If you had an unusual play in a game you saw, let us know about it by describing it on this thread. Let us know the game, the approximate point in the game when the play occurs, and a brief description. We’re interested in almost anything: onside kicks, pass interference, punt returns, goal line plays, big hits … the list goes on an on.

Lots of people complain about officiating. Here’s your opportunity to do something about it. These videos help us to be better, more consistent. If you’re reluctant to mention a play openly, feel free to message me.

I tried to message you and it says you cannot receive messages.

Seems kind of weird.  Why would Logansport vote Harrison and McCutcheon out of the NCC and then decide to jump ship?  Could have abstained in the voting unless they are just opportunistic and decided to strike while the Cass iron was hot.

Guess Harrison will get a chance to ask them first-hand on October 6.

This may have been covered elsewhere, but what was the reasoning in McCutcheon and Harrison being voted out?

People leave p/p education much more often for public pastures than I think folks realize.  I've posted a few times on the p/p "break" points in education.  A break during high school is less likely than the other break points ... after K/1st, after 2nd/3rd grade, after 6th/7th grade, and after 8th grade ... but it does happen and is more common than folks might think.  In my experience, the flow OUT of p/p to public often nets out in favor of the public schools in terms of bodies.  The main reason that you don't hear about it as often is that, in the scheme of things you typically only hear about it with sports, but I can almost say that for every one student-athlete that you hear that leaves a p/p in high school, I bet there are at least another 3-4 non-athletes that you don't hear about.

This is true. I went to a Catholic school K-8. Most Catholic H.S. cost more than Catholic K-8. My parents couldn't afford it.

I have noted a national trend to seeding the final four of each class.    After this weekend's finals where only one game could be considered competitive, perhaps it is something to chew on.

Only one game was competitive? MD won by 10. Lawrenceburg was leading at Halftime. Those may not have come down to the wire, but they were competitive.

  7. 3 thoughts about programs qualifying:

    1) A lot of teams would do their best to avoid any competition during the regular season. Who would want to play "independent" teams like Cathedral, Center Grove or Carmel? MIC and HCC schools already have a difficult schedule. On top of that, how many teams would want to bail their conference?

    2) Programs would have to pick between money and increasing their odds to make the playoffs. If I'm Columbus North, I can schedule Perry Meridian or Cathedral. One gives me better odds to make the playoffs, but it cost our school money. This also goes for struggling programs that actually need the money.

    3) What happens to teams like Zionsville the past two years? I assume 4 win teams won't make the cut.

Keep everything the way it is. Water will find it's level one way or another.

Coach Hart is one of the best coaches in the state and cares about safety more than most to the point that even practices are half pads/quick whistle/no tackling to the ground.

You think the majority of coaches around the state do not care as much about their player's safety as Coach Hart?

As far as "thudding up" during practice goes, this is extremely common. Not only in high school programs around the state, but in college programs as well.
