Nobody said anything about locking kids up till their 21.

There is a flu vaccine, there is no covid-19 vaccine yet. Our bodies are more immune to fight off the flu then it is covid-19...which is why school's are shutting down.

Kids are usually symptom free but can spread it to parents, can spread it to grandparents or strangers and some cases classmates who won't be... had adults taken this serious by taking proper precautions and caring about others.. our country completely shut down like Italy did or something similar to what Canada did.. we wouldnt be in this situation.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-23/school-children-don-t-spread-coronavirus-french-study-shows

You may or may not be able to find studies that say differently, but there are multiple studies that say children do not spread Covid to adults.

Also, Italy is your suggestion on who we should have followed? How about Sweeden, which never shutdown or used mask and has a lower death per million rate than Italy.

You realize that the AVERAGE age of those that die are 80 years old? Now, I don't want anyone to die, but let's protect the vulnerable and the rest of us go about our lives. Maybe then every topic won't be about covid and we can actually talk football once again.

Just a random aside here - I did not think Valparaiso and other schools in the Pioneer Football Leauge offered athletic scholarships? I'm assuming you obviously still have to get offered a spot on the team, but the scholarship is probably academic/grant monies right? Never fully understood how that worked for those schools.

I coached a player a few years back that had an "offer" from Valpo. From what he told me, what you said is correct. Granted, something could have changed in the last few years.

Perhaps......maybe that will be determined to what extent it impacts us.

We don't seem to talk that much about H1N1 back in 2009.  200,000 global deaths, 12,000 here in the US.  H1N1 impacted young and the elderly....infected 61 million Americans....with no vaccine at the time.

My hope (and I think all of us hope and pray) that CV-19 gets no where close to the severity of H1N1.....if it does and more, then I am afraid you are right.  What we may talk about for years to come is the manner we chose to respond.

I agree with you, but I think a lot has to do with our response this time. I'm standing in line at the store right now, I assume this is what Black Friday is like (never been). I don't remember this type of frenzy back in 2009.

The North coach took over that team when they had not won more than 3 games going back to the 2012 season. In his first year they were 1-9. The 2nd year they were 5-5. The last time North had a better record than 5-5 was 2007.

I want to start off by making it clear that I think Coach Paridaen has the program headed in the right direction. I'm not to try to take away from what he and his staff has done. He obviously did an outstanding job at Eastern Greene as well. However, you have to understand there was a transition period when North moved to the far north side. First, they lost a lot of their athletes. Students didn't want to have to ride the bus for an hour every day. Instead they could simply go to Central. Isn't it a strange coincidence that around the time North moved, North went from competitive to uncompetitive. Meanwhile, Central went from mediocre to one of the better programs in 4A. Second, they had to start a youth program (or restart I'm not sure how it was set-up before). I remember reading or watching something this past season that said this was the first group of seniors that had played with one another, from the beginning of youth football until their senior year. I think Coach Wilson (once the school moved) and Coach Szabo were in situations where they were not going to be able to have success quick enough.

They have 2 Sectional Championships, 2 Regional Championships, and 1 State Championship over the last two decades. Those aren't staggering numbers by any means, but they do have one heck of a winning percentage over the same time period. I think that's enough to qualify them as a Blue Blood considering their past.

Not to mention being in pretty sectional with some pretty tough Reitz and most recently Central teams. I think Tony Ahrens was a really good coach, but I really like the hiring of Tony Lewis. I think Jasper makes some noise in the SIAC in the near future.

Posted this quickly last night and felt it deserves further explanation.

Some folks think it might be disrespectful to coaches or not giving credit where it is due but there are certain places where:

A:  Due to steep enrollment/SES discrepancies, Nick Saban/Urban Meyer could not turn certain programs into contenders into contenders.

Contenders for what? State championships? Conference championships? Simply turn a perennial loser into a consistent winner? I would argue that at ALMOST any school, the right coach could turn them into a team that consistently puts up a winning record.

I would also argue the following:

    Admin 40%

    Coaching 40%

    Socioeconomics 10%

    Conference 10%

Love the offense he will bring to Noblesville.  Being different will be a huge advantage for him and the Millers.

Now, can he get the kids and community to buy in?  That will be the hardest part in my opinion.

I seen a few reference his offense, but I'm not familiar with Coach Sharpe. What offense does he run?

Seriously, these are high school football jobs.  Whats the big deal?

I get that you are curious, but Coach Bowling gave you an example of why we/the schools shouldn't release names of the coaches that did not get the job. They would then have to go back and answer questions on why they were trying to leave their current job. I guess I would flip the question on you... These are HS football jobs. Why is it so important that you know who DIDN'T get the job?

which blankets a large segment of people who have nothing to do with this horrible situation.

Agree with your whole comment, but especially this part. This goes for more than likely a large portion of the team. Obviously the player that wrote the anonymous letter saw something wrong with it. A stupid, sick, and gutless act, gives a black eye for so many.

I would wonder why team leadership itself in the locker room didn't seize this situation early on, and get that behavior stopped from the get-go.

I have a feeling it was the "Leaders" in the locker room that was apart of this. While I would have kicked the player in the first incident off the team to send a message, how do you continue to let Jack go into the locker room unsupervised? How do you not make sure there is someone supervising in the locker room period! It shouldn't have to be that way, but obviously you have a culture problem in your locker room. Totally incompetent!

This is a good story!  My doctor's son was very sick just a few years ago, needed a bone marrow transplant to help him get well.  Well, the bone marrow transplant worked and he now plays football at Zionsville.  His name is Camden Cooper, and he went from patient in the hospital to hero on the football field in a few short years. He caught the winning TD against Brownsburg.  BTW, it was his only TD reception of the season, so far.

Good luck to the Eagles Friday night!!!!

Great teammate and even a better young man. Thanks for sharing!

Almost every Kroger where I live has sushi..for a high school to offer it is phenomenal n extremely rare..if i could send my kid to a school that offered it i probably would.. heck..i was happy for pizza day back in my day..

A sushi bar where you sit down and sushi comes by on a belt? I love it... but I have to drive to Carmel for that.

Where did I say that I cared?  Only an observation, that's all.  Sushi at a government high school cafeteria is not the norm for the state of Indiana,  wouldn't you agree?

Fair enough. I would just say that's part of Carmel. I know the Kroger's where I live doesn't have a sushi bar... they do in Carmel.

You lose me on your point....yet the lone HCC representative in the regional is 5-6.  You discredit a MIC team beating around .500 teams in the playoffs, yet a sub.500 team is in the regionals from the HCC??  I guess if they don't beat Ben Davis, you have another opportunity to discredit the MIC?   Nice logic.

Top MIC team....didn't multiple MIC teams win share the conference this year?

I guess we shall see how the remaining HCC team does in the remainder of the playoffs....right now, it looks like MIC teams will continue to eliminate each other as the playoffs progress.

Congrats on the regular season head to head match up title.

No need to get upset. I wasn't discrediting anyone. In my opinion, Carmel is the best team left. Therefore, just because they beat a couple HCC teams that they should have, does not mean you get to ignore everything that has happened up to this point and claim that this proves how the MIC is so much more superior than the HCC.

So if LN and LC would have been eliminated by HCC schools, would HCC now be the better conference?

    6-5... Thanks! 😉

Two MIC co-champs played in the first round of the playoffs this year.  I don't remember the whining but maybe I missed it.

I think the difference is that there was two HCC teams that had a high chance of winning a state title, while there were 4 or 5  MIC teams that had a chance to win a title. The two HCC teams just happen to play each other first game.
