I thought Dwenger was the better team than Zionsville. Killer unforced turnovers and a questionable DPI on the last drive kept the Eagles alive.

So I've read this is few times but didn't the Eagles actually have more turnovers (or at least very close to the same)? Were the Dwenger TO's just mistakes, while the Zionsville TO's were just great plays by Dwenger? Anyways, last comment about about Dwenger, that was two games ago.

Dismantled? I don’t know about that game. I feel like that was a one possession game until the very end. Zionsville passed for about 250 yards that’s night

This is correct! I believe Zionsville was down a score, with the ball with around 5 minutes left in the 4th. Avon was the better team that night, but to say Zionsville was dismantled is just crazy.

Can you produce the video of that play? I’m not saying you’re wrong but I think we saw the same feed and the camera work was lazy. The receiver/defender didn’t come into the screen until the ball was right there on them. PI could have been at any time that ball was in the air.

The biased announcer said he didn’t see anything but I take that with a grain of salt.

There was contact. Personally, it looks like he grabs his arm. I'm fine with someone arguing that it was hand fighting and should have been a no call, but to call it a phantom call is incorrect.

In principle, I agree. In reality, the logistics of holding the entire tournament at neutral sites precludes that option. And I thought “fairness” was the goal here. Teams that have made it to the Regional have a legitimate shot at contending for a state championship, so all teams from that point on should be treated as equal, as long as our tournament is all in, unseeded, and random draw.

Now, if you want to really talk about actually earning home field advantage in the tournament by your regular season performance, I am completely on board with this. You don’t like “participation” trophies? Neither do I. What do you think awarding a team a home semistate game when they have done nothing more than their opponent is - that’s a “participation” trophy by any other name. And what on earth makes you think you can’t get a “big game” atmosphere at a neutral site? It happens all over the country every year ... except in Indiana. Arguably, neutral sites produce a better “big game” atmosphere because more people can attend due to the reduced travel time.

This is just another example of sacrificing a way to make Indiana football better in order to preserve a “feel good” vibe for some unknown school that gets to host a regional once every 40 years. It’s thinking small, taking the tunnel vision view instead of looking out for the good of high school football in Indiana as a whole.

It's fair in the fact that everyone has the same shot to host, right before the drawing. At least seeding makes a LITTLE more sense. I don't know how you plan on plan on doing that. Sargins rating? There's no question these aren't always correct. One example would be closed conferences. Surely you can't be considering wins & losses.

As far replicating the same atmosphere at a neutral site, you're kidding, right? You think you're going to get the same attendance if both teams have to drive an hour and a half? I'm sure everyone of those students that would have been in the student section will be there.

Is there a distance requirement or must every game be held at a neutral site? Are we going to make BD & CG travel to Arsenal Tech just so there is no "home field advantage".

I'd rather have a 50/50 shot of playing at home, than never being able to play at home.

Thank goodness the IHSAA agrees with me.

@southend. But I guess what you're saying is that neutral sites are bad because they rob a team of the hoopla associated with a big home game, which (and this is still a mystery to me

I believe you're in the minority. There's nothing more exciting than the atmosphere of a home crowd, especially during big games. Why would you want to take that away? Because of "fairness"? Maybe we can give everyone a trophy too! As a player, coach or fan, I've never blamed a loss on being the away team. We should make EVERY playoff game at a neutral site... In the name of fairness.

  6. Westfield @ Merrillville

I would give Merrillville a fighting chance, if it wasn't for the Chatard game. Therefore, Shamrocks 42 -21.

    Valpo @ Zionsville

An impressive Valpo running game vs a Zionsville D that has looked stout vs Dwenger & Harrison. I think the Eagles squeeze out another close one. Eagles 21-17

    Marion @ Hobart

I'll be glad to see either one of these teams make it to L.O.S. Marion came up a game short in 2018, I think they get over the hump. Marion 28-21

Never. If we move a game because of it being too cold, then football has officially become soft.

Totally agree! That said, I never thought I would see school delays because it was too cold either. 🙄

No matter how bad it gets, there will always be that one assistant coach that has shorts on.........🥶

It's always the O-line/D-line coaches. Lol

    FTA:

Live entertainment, cultural venues and events

Cultural venues, music venues and museums are reduced to 25% capacity. All non-essential hospitality and entertainment businesses must close at midnight.

Special or seasonal events, like concerts, festivals, wedding receptions and sporting events, are limited to 25% capacity. Those events may include more than 50 people only if the event has a safety plan approved by the county health department.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

I believe this a huge difference.

Holcomb said beginning this weekend, orange counties will be limited to social gatherings of 50 people or fewer. Red counties will be limited to gatherings of 25 people or fewer.

Assuming this is true, this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. If the state finals are held in a giant venue like LOS, they should not be limited to the same amount of people as a whole in the wall bar. Why would it not be based off a percentage of the venue's capacity? It should be this way across the board.

Not trying to make it political, I feel I'm talking about something that is football related.

I’m a westsider.  We only know the Main Street Turoni’s and the Kentucky ave Roca Bar.

I was gonna throw Parkway Pizza out there, but I knew that would really confuse people.

I lived in Westwood apartments when I attended USI. I know all about some Parkway pizza. Lol

I’ll throw some predictions out there. I feel like this SIAC season has been more unpredictable than usual but with the fall festival being cancelled last week I’ve had more time to ponder on these matchups.

    Castle 20-14 Memorial

    Central 35-7 North

    MD 16-14 Reitz

     Harrison 28-21 Bosse

    Jasper 27-14 VL

    Ski over Mt Dew

    Roca Bar over Turonis

    Midget Links (rip) over walthers

Which Roca Bar and which Turonis? These things matter! Lol

    1) Roca Bar Kentucky ave

    2) Turonis downtown

    3) Turonis forget me not

    4) Roca Bar North

    5) Turonis newburgh

The Evansville newspaper said that the game was moved up to Thursday due to no officials being available on Friday.

This is why it's so important that coaches and fans alike treat officials with the upmost respect. It's hard enough to get officials. We don't need to be chasing them off because they may of missed a call or we at least we think they did. This is going to continue to be a problem.

  14. At least till this point, I feel like this year's Castle team is not being given the credit they deserve. Their only loss came to North, who is being considered a top tier team. They lost by 7 and was ahead for the first 3 quarters. They have given up 24 points through 4 games. They missed the Bosse game, so let's be honest, they should be 5-1. Just my two cents.

I don't believe laziness is the issue as much as resource allocation.  I understand your point, but most coaching staffs have limited numbers, and doing this for the benefit of the public is not a priority when you are getting ready for the game the next Friday night.

There's no doubt it's easier with a larger staff. However, Hudl does half of the work for you. Then you can just transfer the stats over to Maxpreps. It literally takes me 15 minutes to do defensive stats.

Both Central and North established youth leagues in the past 5-10 years.  The population on the north side of Evansville has grown significantly and the "new" North High School was built.  I think you are starting to see fruits of their labor paying off.  I think Reitz is in a bit of a down spell, and their numbers were down a bit last year.  Not sure about this year.

Too early to say MD has "gone south".  They just lost a really good senior class and this year's team is a bit of a rebuild and they are experiencing some growing pains on offense with a soph QB, RB and some new OL.  The defense has played well through 4 games.

I would say this is pretty accurate. Unless I'm mistaken, last year's North seniors were the first graduating class to complete the youth league from start to finish.

Central also benefited from North moving. North was a more diverse school. The inner-city kids that once attended North, no longer want to make that 45 minute bus ride. Instead they just go to Central.

As far as others struggling, I'm unsure. Maybe some others can shed more light on those programs.
