  1. John Glenn football player tests positive for COVID-19
  2. unfortunately college athletics historically has its share of dishonesty in regards to trying to creating the competitive edge.......it will be interesting as to what programs will withhold, mislead or delay testing results in the wake of the so-called "big game".......time will tell
  3. IPS & Athletics With the Board’s decision to delay the start of school, all athletics programming in the district will also be put on hold immediately. The current plan is for our high school athletics programming to return on August 17 with the return of school. More information to come.
  4. when schools get back in sessions and the group levels increase.......it only stands to get worse.....right now we have cases and compared to school enrollments sport teams are just small groups
  5. Until we get leadership that wants to put the cases at a manageable level........the fall football season will be a chopped up mess........i can see some teams w/o cases going 2-3 weeks w/o games because opponents have outbreaks. Spring, and hopefully some treatments......is the realistic chance for a full season, perhaps not chopped up....but the fall between players, students, teachers, coaches, families and officials having outbreaks is a very doubtful happening
  6. Manchester/Concord ..........and the hits.......they just keep on coming........we haven't even made it to school yet!
  7. Spring will probably be the wise choice. My one fear is proceed in the fall, get delays and cancellations of games due to the virus. Could have some teams playing a full schedule and others an abbreviated number of games. Get to the playoffs, it could possibly be a team due to quarantines going right to the championship game. And if we start in the fall and get cancelled there will be no spring season. The spring gives us a better chance to get a grip on the virus thru treatments, and could almost guarantee a full season. The fall, a full season........is doubtful
  8. unfortunately........schools are the last stop in the road. From the top down nobody has assumed responsibility outside of a few strong willed governors. Right now the end of the road falls on schools. I agree this is the place were liability will start and sadly it will fall on the shoulders of the school administrators and the teachers. And if it boils down to signing waivers......................I wouldn't sign one!
  9. The three new ones: CYA, I Take No Responsibility or Pass the Buck

  12. Also, on Friday, Mishawaka High School learned that someone who had been attending workouts for the girls' volleyball program tested positive. All volleyball players and coaches are quarantining through July 29, and conditioning and other activities are temporarily suspended for the team.
  13. happened earlier, but add SB St. Joe to the list of positive cases
  14. A number of Region schools have suspended athletic activities because of the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, Michigan City and the Hammond school district — including Clark, Gavit, Hammond and Morton — stopped summer workouts, at least temporarily. Calumet and River Forest on Tuesday had joined Portage and Boone Grove in halting activities, barely a week after the Indiana High School Athletic Association gave the go-ahead to start a phased-in resumption July 5. High school sports had been shut down since mid-March. School City of Hammond Superintendent Scott Miller informed district teams of the move on Thursday, according to posts on social media and school athletic websites. The situation will be reevaluated Tuesday at a school board meeting.
  15. Silver Creek, however, isn’t the only local football team feeling the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Floyd County Health Officer Dr. Tom Harris confirmed Tuesday that a player at a Floyd County high school had tested positive for COVID-19. “Transmission risk to other players was low,” said Harris, who declined to say which school the player attends.
  16. With a ref shortage already, do you expect Thursday and Saturday games?
  17. Brownstown football player tests positive for coronavirus By Lew Freedman - 7/14/20 10:16 PM A Brownstown Central High School football player tested positive for the coronavirus Monday, and after informing coach Reed May of the result, the program shut down workouts for two weeks Tuesday.
  18. Since 2008 it is true Bellmont has not won a state title, but they had a nice run between 2011-2015. Two sectional championships, a co-conference championship (NE8), and big wins vs 6A Homestead, 4A East Noble, 4A New Haven, Concordia and Bishop Luers (All Ranked Teams) during that five year span. Not too shabby!
  19. I believe football in that little Adams County is pretty good. Those two 1A's are small competition compared to Bellmont, but they (AC/SA) play some pretty good football.
  20. Calumet and River Forest are yet two more schools in the Region that have suspended prep sports activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
  21. Calumet High School has suspended athletic activity until further notice. Click the link below for the statement on the school's website.
  22. Fear is king because there is no plan! No plan creates the unknown. Plans and preparations create confidence, just like we (coaches) try to do with our weekly game plans
  23. Silver Creek High School Football is canceling practice for the rest of this week to allow for contact tracing of the confirmed case. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
  24. add Silver Creek to the list
