  2. Why are you so concerned about me? And we can all see how well this "anti-corruption measure" has done. It's helped to create a basically ineffective legislative branch of the federal government while bloating the power of the executive branch. But then again a "quasi-monarch" is something you champion, isn't it Dante? The Founding fathers effectively created four co-equal branches of government. The States through the Senate, the people via House, The Executive and the Judiciary. You needed agreement of three of the four branches to get something done. The 17th Amendment screwed up the balance and allowed the Federal Government to run amok. Repeal is the only way to save this country from continued Federal overreach.
  3. Interesting. What is the response from the local teacher's union to such a pilot program? And what do you, an educational professional, believe should be the base salary and salary ceiling for an government school teacher in the state of Indiana?

Without a true free market in education to provide needed competition and information to management it sound like pretty much "raise the salaries until the teachers stop bitching". https://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2016/09/15/sure-if-youve-a-teacher-shortage-then-raising-teacher-pay-sounds-sensible/#670caba3075c https://files.texaspolicy.com/uploads/2018/08/16092838/Veritas-Issue2-ed-article.pdf
  6. I also find it interesting that Dante seems to believe Mr. Beal taught government to Mr. Williamson, the author of the article I linked. Instead of objectively addressing any of the arguments and statements Mr. Williamson makes he instead attacks the career and character of a dead government school teacher. Again: troll.
  7. Why don't you call his widow and tell her that, troll.
  8. Good luck to young Mr. Kendrick in this new endeavor.

  10. https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/05/federalism-limits-authoritarian-politics-washington/ Fantastic commentary by Mr. Williamson. The 17th Amendment has resulted in the corruption of American politics, and needs to be effectively repealed.

Market Crashes as Trump Threatens More Tariffs After China Trade Deal Flops: https://reason.com/2019/05/06/market-crashes-as-trump-threatens-more-tariffs-after-china-trade-deal-flops/ I'm starting to really believe Mr. Trump doesn't want to be re-elected, and blowing up the U.S. economy is a way that he can be defeated at the pools while still appearing to have "put up a fight".

Gee, I did't know 30k acres of land was de-facto owned by Tippecanoe County.

  16. Don't Let the Woke Scolds Ruin Cinco de Mayo: https://reason.com/2019/05/05/cinco-de-mayo-cultural-appropriation/ Suffice it to say, this is a rather backward understanding of white supremacy—an ideology that stresses differences and divisions between the races. The alt-right doesn't want white people wearing sombreros: They want Mexican people to take their clothing and food and head south. White nationalism is obsessed with keeping the white race pure—with making sure other peoples, cultures, traditions, and values do not dilute white identity. There's no better way to undermine this pernicious ideology than to engage in rampant cultural blending and borrowing. As a practical matter, it would be impossible to disentangle distinct ethnic traditions from the blended fabric of American society. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday, but one that's primarily celebrated in the U.S. rather than Mexico. That's what happens when cultures mix: New traditions form. Much of the outrage over cultural appropriation is confined to leftist social media enclaves and college campuses, where de-problematizing Cinco de Mayo is a frequent goal of racial justice activists. Their efforts call to mind H.L. Mencken's famous description of Puritanism as "the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy." ....
  17. One of the awful ends results of our government lying and betraying the people it is supposed to serve. Yet people still blindly trust government to this very day. Agreed, never forget.
  18. High School Mulls Removing George Washington Murals Because They 'Traumatize' Students: https://www.dailywire.com/news/46683/high-school-mulls-removing-george-washington-joseph-curl Here's the irony, though. The murals were painted in 1936 by artist Victor Arnautoff, who was a protégé of Diego Rivera and a communist. "He included those images not to glorify Washington, but rather to provoke a nuanced evaluation of his legacy. The scene with the dead Native American, for instance, calls attention to the price of 'manifest destiny.' Arnautoff’s murals also portray the slaves with humanity and the several live Indians as vigorous and manly," The Wall Street Journal reports. Historian Fergus M. Bordewich told The Fix that it is "a deeply wrongheaded habit to project today’s norms, values, ideals backwards in time to find our ancestors inevitably falling short." "It betrays a very troubling intolerance of art and the ambiguity of art and the aspirations of art," he said. "It’s incredibly stupid if we try to erase history. It still happened, and you should argue about its meanings."
