Those are actually very insightful points...and regarding the high snaps - I totally forgot the center also snapped it over the kickers head for a punt attempt and LC recovered on the Irish 20 yard line in second half.

Our defense stepped up big time, pretty much allowing just 7 pts until the late 4Q TD with our second and third units in the game. After Danny O'Neil was sacked the 6th time I stopped counting...not sure where that stat line finished up but to credit of LC defense for smothering him and pulling out all the stops. Great win, bring on Brownsburg! Understand that game will probably be at Tech?

I agree, I think Westfield dominates in most if not all club / travel sports anymore in western Hamilton County, and being home to Grand Park is another attractive draw for sports-minded families to live there. At one time Carmel's football stadium was probably among the best of all high schools in the Midwest. Today it might not make the top 5 in the state.

Wow, another perfect Friday night for football with temps in high 60's at game time! I think Irish will put up a lot of points Friday, question is how much will the defense allow to a team that is capable of putting up points? Great game, I think most Irish fans (and maybe some players) were looking forward to next week's game to account for smaller crowd size and some missed tackles ..at least in the first half. Credit to LN early as they had all the momentum in the first half, and Jones was lights-out stud and was throwing and running all over the Irish. Looking forward to next week vs. Lawrence Central. Probably will be a track meet, they put up 41 points on Center Grove few weeks ago so our defense must get it together this week at practice. I am not sure how things will go for the Irish if we give up another 428 yards next week.

Irish have Lawrence Central to worry about first, and to be honest if they have another 100+ yards penalties the rematch prob won't happen. I do have faith that it will!

That 4th quarter was epic. The 27 unanswered points in 9 minutes is a rare event. Replay is on TV this morning (right now) if anyone wants a re-watch of second half about to start! I noticed quite a few college coaches at the game scouting. Danny put on a good show with 410 passing yards. Can't wait for the re-match next month. And for the sake of the good rivalry I hope both teams keep this regular season game on the schedule for years to come!

I would imagine the IHSAA TV will also be picking up the HSE / Brownsburg game instead of this one.

Looking forward to this one! However Irish need to get penalties under control, if they give up another +60 yards we could lose by 20+. Keep it clean and probably will be a toss-up. Since both teams have a loss already and the sectional pairings announced last night...game probably won't have as much hype as last year.

Pretty damn accurate in my opinion.

Irish of course did not play this past Friday as they could not get a team to schedule that date. I think they had the same issue last year, however with some acts of congress Hammond Morton agreed to play the Irish where the game was pretty much decided after the coin flip. Irish travel up to Hammond Friday to take on the 1-6 Governors for the return match. As an Irish fan I am little concerned with all the downtime as the first unit will probably see action in the first half only on Friday. After this game just three games remain in the regular season, with our first home game finally happening on Sept 30th! This regular season is flying by too damn fast.

Actually I just realized Irish play following week at Hammond Morton.🙄 so we actually have two weeks off, considering first unit will only see portion of that game. Regarding scheduling...we played at Brownsburg last year and of course this year. I wonder if they only agreed to play Cathedral if both games would be home (i.e. exclude that trip to Arlington). Yes I heard from many sources and school admin that it has always been challenge for teams to schedule Irish for several reasons and venue is probably one of those!

What do teams typically do when they have an off-week still early in the season? I am sure Peebs will do everything to keep them sharp but a little bummer they are not playing Friday.

I noticed after last night that Danny is now Cathedrals all-time leader in career passing touchdowns. And he still has over a season and a half to add to that.

While I am a devoted Irish fan, I went outside the box to attend my first Mudsock game last night at HSE. With the Cathedral / Chatard game ending up being a mis-match made me all the more happy with my choice of game to attend. Holy cow. Estimated crowd size was around 8,000 and if you didn't have a seat at 6:15PM you were standing. Game lived up to expectations with HSE winning by one point in OT. If you never attended Mudsocks Game, do your self a favor and put it on your list.

Glad our defense woke up.

Cathedral 35 Chatard 27

Definitely improvement second half, although Penn missed easy pick-six in first half which could have made things a bit more unsettling. O Line and defense will continue to improve as season goes on. Like it or not, we will have hands full at Chatard next week as they let a game slip away from them last night.

Cathedral 42 Penn 31 While I think it will take some time for Irish to fix all the issues of defense, I think the punting unit will pull it together Friday after a disaster last week.

I would put all my money on New Pal to run the table in 4A easily....their O-Line is the best in the state, no questions.

After what New Pal did to Decatur Central last night, I would agree with you.

I think last time Irish gave up 42 points was back in 2017 vs Columbus East. Clearly the defense needs to get it together and next week at Penn will be another test. It could be argued that our special teams/punting unit may have cost us the game as their blunders led to 14 points for Bulldogs...but the better team won last night. Was an awesome atmosphere last night for a football game played in August!

Irish 17-13. Gonna be a good one!
