Agree - I didn't say winning out would be easy but with our defense alone I like our chances. We really need to be prepared for Chatard on Friday as records are typically meaningless for rivalry games.

Found it! Danny had a 162.1 quarterback rating. Not bad for a lad that probably doesn't even have his drivers permit yet. I am not sure if there is a box score from last nights game that shows QB rating, but O'Neill was 20-22, ran for a touchdown and passed for three more. I think I was most surprised how small Penn looked. Hopefully they will get things turned around, such a great historic program.

I agree the state title seemed a little diminished only because our loss at CG was a tough pill to swallow...given we probably would have won if not the questionable play calling by our coach. Both teams will enter week 9 undefeated. Center Grove, after last night's beatdown of Carmel, will for sure break into the top 10 national rankings this week. October 15th is still a long time away with alot going on before that date. Hope both teams stay healthy so it can live up to the hype!

This would be a fantastic story for one of those ESPN '30 for 30' documentaries.

That would be interesting data to find, I am pretty sure in the mid 1990's that Ben Davis, Penn and North Central were probably the three largest high schools in the state ( in that order). I would think Carmel would have been about half the size it is now....as I recall it was in 1992-1993 is when they expanded / construction to pretty much double the size of the school.

Tuition Cost Yearly Tuition (Boarding Students) $84,400 (Tuition varies depending on your sport program.) Yearly Tuition (Day Students) $67,400 (Tuition varies depending on your sport program. Contact us to learn more.) By the way, above tuition costs are for IMG not Bishop Sycamore lol....

I would expect offense to have break-out game and hopefully we will have less than 100 yards of penalties. Irish 35 Penn 7

Cathedral vs Brownsburg on Friday!
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Our offense still has some kinks to work out. However I could tell easily in the stands that Brownsburg is much more physical and bigger up front than Westfield was from the prior week. Credit to Bulldogs for shutting down our run game. Our defense again was lights out and special teams made some big-time plays when it mattered. The tackle Gomez made on Brownsburg's return late in 4th quarter actually 'hushed' the stadium for several seconds. I don't recall such a hard hit in a very long time at high-school level. To the point above we need to get these penalties under control. 93 yards last week, and 114 yards last night = average of 103.5 penalty yards/game. That is concerning. -
Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That is always a good question that gets asked often and the way I see it: 1. Arlington is very close proximity to CHS 2. Arlington was home field to Cathedral's football team through the 1970's and early 1980's 3. Cathedral embraces and advocates its football tradition, so playing games at AHS are very meaningful to the program and alumni alike 4. A doner has a landscaping company that completely refurbished the playing surface two years ago. It looks like a turf field, but it is not. I also think it is a great home field advantage, as visiting teams and fans do not like to play/go there. To be honest with all these amazing stadiums these days (Westfield, CG, Carmel, etc) I love the opportunity for some 'old school' venue football on a Friday night to mix it up. -

Roncalli OL Leading The Way

Wow. Is that the biggest aggregate OL in the state regardless of class? Looks like that avg is 6'5" and 308 lbs. -
Bishop Chatard @ Warren Central
Dave007 replied to Warren Central Warrior's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
This is going to be an interesting matchup. I will be rooting like crazy for Chatard but if I was betting on the game I will probably take WC by 2 scores. -
Another great 6A matchup for the Irish. With our defense I just don't see us giving up much to the Bulldogs. I also project a few more break-out plays from our offense than we saw last Friday at Westfield. Going to be a hot week hope both teams stay cool at practice and everyone stays healthy! Irish 28 Brownsburg 6

Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Irish defense was smashing, offense a little slow out of the gate but Danny clearly calmed down second half. Irish had 93 yards in penalties while giving up zero points is probably the most ridiculous stat line. I am sure they will work on that this week as priority as the poster above mentioned. -
Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!

I was told by a source we were supposed to host Carmel to start the season (to make good on our one-one agreement), but after the thumping we gave them last season at their place they backed out with their tail between their legs and Westfield was happy to play us again but would have to be at their place again! Who knows but sounds logical! -

Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Dave007 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yes, I am just giving Westfield credit they deserve as they are going to be much better than last year and last year they were pretty damn good, and have great senior backfield. I will say Irish win, but will probably be much closer than last year's 56-20 beat-down on the Rocks. -
This is going to be one hell of a game. Big stadium, sold-out crowd (for sure). A lot of positive hype for Danny O'Neil who won't even turn 16 until after the football season so he will be center stage in a monster environment and so excited anticipating how he responds. Westfield is loaded this year too, I think it will be them or CG to take the 6A crown with a lot of space between them and the other 6A teams. Too early to make predictions just wanted to get thread started. Maxpreps has Westfield ranked #2 and Irish #5 in pre-season state rankings rankings

Thanks DT as well, these interviews are FANTASTIC! So great to get perspective by asking all the coaches pretty much the same questions!!! Well done sir.

Well that is what the tournament success factor is designed to do! The last 6A tournament game we played we were destroyed by Ben Davis 51-21. I do agree our level of talent is far greater than the 2016 season and anything less than a championship next year would be major disappointment.
