  1. When is last time Indiana had two teams nationally ranked, let alone play each other? Clearly the Oct 16th match-up will be a lot more meaningful and I no longer think either team will 'sit on their hands' with this much national exposure at stake.
  2. I expect the Irish to create more of a scoring gap in this game and the streak of 3 games with 100+ penalty yards given up comes to an end. Elder is 3-2, lost to both Saint Xavier and La Salle which are our common opponents. Irish 49 Elder 21 By the way - anyone know if attendance criteria has changed now Indiana is in stage 5 (as of Saturday)? I keep hearing mixed messages about attendance and wonder if anyone can set it straight!
  3. Totally agree. CG put up 49 points in FIRST QUARTER last night and I think defense forced 4 turnovers each resulting in touchdown? High school football in Indiana is so damn good right now.

  5. Is this the third or fourth game this season where we have given up more than 100 yards in penalties?
  6. It would clearly be different if that game wasn't the last regular season game before playoffs. If both teams continue to put big scoring gaps between opponents and go undefeated just don't see any reason either team would go all-out against each other for the reasons we already discussed. At the same time, should that happen, the AD's of both schools should make the situation wholesome and do what is necessary to open up the 2021 season playing each other as both teams will no doubt be ranked #1 in their class to start next season regardless what happens this season.
  7. As discussed on this forum before, Arlington is a very unique home-field advantage for the Irish for many reasons. Irish 35 LaSelle 21

  10. I remember that BD team...has it really been 19 years? If I recall Warren was very good that year too. Is there a website with that kind of historical data? Would be fun to poke around more.
  11. This will be a great discussion topic a week or two before the game especially if both teams remain undefeated. Not to put the cart in front of the horse yet but will both teams (CG and Cathedral) play 100% all-out in the final regular season game with the following week starting playoffs? If ESPN were to pick up the game obviously I see that happening given the national exposure to both programs which would be a great thing of course. I think at this point in the season- looking at the statistics from both team-, anything short of a state championship for both teams would be a major disappointment. So in a game that really just would result in bragging rights I am curious how much that may be taken into account?
  12. I am pretty sure when Arlington's field became available (i.e. Arlington no longer playing on it) - Cathedral quickly jumped on the opportunity due to close location to Cathedral H.S. A Cathedral alumn that has a landscaping business generously donated and/or upgraded the playing field. I personally think Arlington is a unique home-field advantage for the Irish given the grass playing field which many teams don't use or practice on anymore. Also it is not the greatest part of town, so I would imagine teams and parents of visiting teams probably don't look forward to traveling to play in that venue. Hence, it is 'old-school' at its best! However the safety issue which Footballking16 cited above is a concern though.
  13. Agree 100% - defense was clearly the difference maker! On to week 6!
  14. Arlington is now the 'unofficial' home field for Cathedral football, and at one point will be our home field for good (if it hasn't changed already). I loved the games at Tech...where most of our home games were played and miss not playing there anymore.
  15. This will be a very close competitive game and agree high scoring affair. 52-45 Irish.
  16. Two questions totally irrelevant to this evenings game. I know there is no such thing as stupid questions just stupid people, so allow me to be stupid for a minute. If Chatard wins state again this year in 3A....will they move to 4A next year? If Cathedral were to win state this year in 5A...would they have to win state again in 2021 to move to 6A? And a sectional championship for both schools keeps them in same classification for next two years? Time to drink BEER. Go Irish!
  17. I have given up any hope of getting tickets for this game, I understood the 350 tickets made available to Cathedral were gone in minutes. I do know of some Cathedral folks that scalped tickets off Carmel folks a few weeks back, but given the small venue I will be patient as the next three games will be at Arlington against the Big Boys from Ohio. And totally agree, I wish both schools would have worked something out to have this game at a large venue which both schools (especially Chatard since they are home team) would reap the financial benefits of doing so! Irish 49 Chatard 17
  18. I think Chatard's stadium holds about 3,500, so maybe a few hundred tickets will be allocated to Cathedral?
  19. Agree will be daunting to say the least - given Laselle is ranked #2 and St. Xavier #4 in Ohio this week. In fact St. X beat Laselle dropping them from number one spot. But since they are all home games I just like our chances. We need to worry about Chatard first thou.
  20. I am all but certain both teams will be undefeated by the Oct 16 showdown. My wish is covid19 will be in a much better place where more fans will be allowed to attend, especially in CG's huge stadium. However Oct 16 is a LONG way away. As said before, I am week-to-week anymore.

Also under consideration: Joplin (Mo.), Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.), Muskego (Wisc.)
  22. I totally agree. What is more crazy is that entire OL line which averages 6'4" and 280 lbs are juniors? Long term can be amazing year, but to be honest with everything Covid19 I just take it one week at a time and hope the season and playoffs go 'as scheduled!'.
  23. Will be a great game, two great storied programs. I just hope this series is renewed for years to come! Go Irish!
  24. 1,000 total fans will be allowed for Friday's game at Carmel correct? Or given the size of the stadium (10,000+) maybe that could change?
  25. I can't imagine fans being allowed in the stadium, period. And that is fine with me....because if that happens that means at least there will be a fall football season!
