  1. Happy to see the Irish offense start to click late in the season heading into playoffs....hanging 38 points on Center Grove (most points they allowed all season) something positive heading into sectionals but worried too about pass defense. Good news is we pretty much have two weeks (no offense to North Central) but LN/LC will be no easy task before facing either Ben Davis / Brownsburg. Gotta take it one game at a time!
  2. Nevermind... 85% percent change rain at 7PM. Going to be a sloppy mess and expect running game from both teams.
  3. Yes surprised not as much hype as I thought. Looks like the rain forecast moved to Saturday so should be great fall night of Friday night football at the Butler Bowl! Go Irish!
  4. We can officially finally start talking about this one! I am sure it will live up to the hype as always, maybe not as much two years ago when both teams undefeated and #1 in each of its class (Irish was 5A then) with the mud bowl at Arlington. I didn't know this until looking at the team records but Cathedral is the last in-state team that has beaten Center Grove (last year final reg season game) since 2019. LN had the lead against Center Grove last night going into halftime in what looked to be a pretty good game until Trojans pulled away late. I personally think this will be low scoring game but we will see. Regardless of this game Center Grove is a shoe-in for semi state. Irish on the other hand will need to get by LN, Ben Davis / Brownsburg in sectional / potential regional so this game will be great lead-in to what is arguably going to be one of the toughest playoff schedules in recent memory?
  5. That is a really good point that most people may not fully realize. Great win by Irish, good old fashioned beat-down. Next week's showdown w/Center Grove gonna be good!
  6. Cathedral played really well last two games, big improvement since start of the season. Playoffs gonna be brutal hard to believe just a few regular season games left already. Irish 49 Roncalli 14
  7. I am actually a big fan of Arlington given the history over the years especially for the teams in the 70s and 80s that played there....Irish have historic traditions and history and like it or not Arlington is a big part of that. Plus I am old school and think it is great to see games played there sandwiched in-between these huge high school stadiums that most small colleges would be jealous of. The whole 'LightGate' fiasco at the Chatard game few weeks ago was little bizarre and very embarrassing. Butler Bowl is a great venue, I think Cathedral last played there in 2017. Yeah home side tons of room not so much on visitors side though.
  8. I would think HSE win on the road @ Fishers in Mudsocks game would lock them in at #4. Maybe you struggled with that one? Other than that you are spot-on
  9. Would be easy to put blame on Irish athletic department for the fiasco with facilities last night resulting in change of venue to play following day when Irish had the momentum but Chatard delt with same circumstances and came ready to play today and we did not. Irish had 2 turnovers all season up until today where they had 3. This will for sure drop them out of top 10 6A so time for some soul searching as there is still A LOT of season left.
  10. That is awesome you have schedule set for next 3+ years. Even more exciting is the series with Cathedral is back starting next year and is at least a 3 or maybe even a 4 year series!
  11. I recall two years ago with the infamous 'mud bowl' w/Center Grove the attendance was cited around 5,000-6,000 but that was 'all-in' including standing room only all around the track not sure you would have wedged in much more.
  12. Great execution by Irish in first half, pretty much almost flawless compared to last week esp lack of penalties and no dropped passes. However agree it was puzzling we didn't run the ball more. Big game on Friday vs. Chatard.
  13. This matchup has probably gotten a little more interesting. BD rolled Pike like they were a freshman team last night. Props for BD scheduling this game, it is early enough in the season where if they do get routed (it may be closer than you think) they will be over it come playoff time.
  14. Agree especially 1-3 however 4-7 could arguably be re-stacked in any order at the moment. There are some MONSTER games Friday. Ben Davis / IMG Mudsocks Classic which will have a crowd of 10K plus Cathedral vs. Chatard
  15. I will go with Irish 35 Penn 28. Penn is much better than last year IMO, Irish at the moment are probably at the same point last year in the season I am just anxious to see how they respond from last weeks beatdown in Brownsburg amid all the stupid penalties and dropped passes and questionable play-calling. Should be gorgeous night under the lights in Arlington!
  16. From what I know, there are certain high schools that absolutely refuse to play at Arlington with Brownsburg being one of those. So it can be assumed Irish prefer to keep high profile game on the road vs. playing lesser opponent at home. In the past Cathedral has hosted home games at Butler Bowl, Marian College, etc. but they have to pay to do that and other option is Tech but only if the field is available. It is what it is!
  17. You need to at least switch Cathedral with Westfield. The gap between Center Grove / Ben Davis and everyone else in the field will continue to grow as the season continues (as I predicted months ago).
  18. Game was pretty even thru halftime now it is mis-match. Irish have some big issues to address after this game or it might be a long season.
  19. Awesome! Will watch game from home. The visitors side at Brownsburg Stadium are metal bleachers DIRECTLY in the sun, I can't stand up to an hour of that unless this was a playoff game!
  20. Assuming all the stadiums have lights, why not push the games back two hours. They do that in Texas all the time.
  21. No offense to Jeff but I didn't see this game much of measuring stick for the Irish given the circumstances. Same could have been said for Brownsburg given they rolled FW Dwenger 51-7 last night. Irish travel to face the Bulldogs next Friday so will be epic early-season classic with #2 vs #4. 6A is an absolute beast this year. I am watching the Westfield vs. NewPal game this morning on TV and it isn't even a game, 30-0 going into 4th quarter.
  22. I would guess the score this year would be similar to last year. Cathedral has some big shoes to fill from players moving on last year so anxious to see how first game plays out with the new folks.
