    Stat Question

    Here is the scenario:

     

    Team A has the ball first and 10 at the 12 yard line.

    Team A scores a touchdown on the next play.

     

    One of us says Team A gets a first down on the play because they took the ball past the 10 yards necessary to get the first down.

    The other one of us says no first down because it is a touchdown and the next play was not played due to the touchdown.

     

    Any stat buffs out there that can clear this one up?

    There are all kinds of variables the IHSAA could, I guess, consider to hold back programs they don’t want winning.  But I would question why they would want to do that in the first place.

    You want to beat Cathedral or Chatard?  Hit the weight room.  Hit the film room.  Put more effort and focus on your feeder program.  Institute better discipline.

    But don’t gripe about them having advantages you don’t and can’t have and thus try to justify establishing rules which are obviously designed to make life harder on them just because they’ve been more successful than you have been.  That’s, among other things, a horrible life lesson for the kids we’re raising.

    and then there were two....

    RC gets bumped by Andrean after interesting and exciting season... love the North Knox story! Congrats Bombers on a good season !!

    Congrats to the Blue Devils movin' on and now will host Luers....3 times they have hosted Luers in past regionals have come up short !

    LCC travels to Winamac after having week off again... hopefully thats a good thing for the Knights !

    I was watchin'... too slow on that Lapel 45 yard run with 4 mins left in 3rd and their hurry up offense.... sticks weren't in the ground when they ran next play AND refs clearly placed ball on 22 and sticks were on 23. Come on man !
