While an impressive personal performance this is yet another example of the ruin of traditional high school football.  OMG! Athletes need only apply.

Mudaaaaaaaaaa. All the D1 athletes out of Gibson Southern and Tri-West. The imperialistic southwest Indiana schools have been overbearing and have an unfair advantage over the rest of the state. Muuuuuddddddaaa. Make 3A more equitable. For the little guys at least.

  2. I think it's awesome to see this history. Still wondering how they transported 30-40 players either to New Albany or Indy in those days. Looks like the first school bus wasn't manufactured until 1930. Assume they must have taken a train.

"In 1927, a Ford dealership owner named A. L. Luce built the first bus that primarily used steel panels. In 1930, Wayne Works introduced the first all-steel school bus body with safety glass windows."

Here's what I found in regards to a dream-ish drive

Ben Davis: Home vs Southport, @ Tech (25 min drive), Home vs Bburg, @CG (30 min drive)

Cathedral: Home vs THN, Home vs Plainfield, @ Decatur (30 min drive), Home vs New Pal, Home vs New Albany

Zionsville: Home vs all opponents the last 2.5 years lol, @ Michigan City for Semistate (2 hr 30 min drive)

Cathedral takes the cake in terms of the best draw in terms of travel with Zionsville having the best draw the last 2.5 years until they finally have to go on the road to MC.

For the record, I was really hoping for a Bloomington game for the Irish. I had rooms reserved for the night and a 3:30p Indiana Hoosiers kick on Saturday. As horrific as the Hoosiers have been this year, God smiled on us again with a New Albany win and a local game. We do actually like to travel no matter what PHJ says....

Actually there were 4 field goal attempts as Gomez missed one.  He doesn't miss many kicks at all.  The offense played very conservatively last night.  It is time to spread it around.  I really believe that the wind had an effect on the passing game of both teams.

I still haven't heard anything officially.  Will the game next week be at Tech?

It's official. Streiff told me last night.

  5. If our offense plays like they did last night, we aren't beating Zionsville. 3 more stalled red zone drives resulting in 3 field goal attempts.

When our D completely shuts down the other team like they did last night (-38 total rushing yards!!), we have to capitalize. New Pal has an excellent young NT, but we needed to spread the ball better. 1 catch for our tight ends is not gonna get it done.

Evidently, according to your coach, you did use a player in violation of the rules.  Was it to win a JV game?  I'm guessing it wasn't to lose it.

But I'll say it again, it also provided additional depth during the friday night varsity game that was utilized for special teams.  Depth the opponent didn't have available.

Its about level playing fields.....why is that so foreign?

Sorry you lost your J/V game to the Irish. I'd be angry too if we squandered a 12-0 first quarter lead.

I know for a fact that we didn't dress any of our 2 deep players for the CG J/V game or for any J/V games this season. Does Coach P try to get as many kids in as possible late in games? Absolutely. The future is bright for the Irish.

One thing that is abundantly clear: you have no idea about the integrity of our program. I'll let you make your own narrative, but anyone close to the program knows we are doing it the right way.

It takes an idiot to know an idiot.  As I stated before, the impact isn't just to the JV game.  Can you not get your pea brain around that?  It provided depth (in this case to special teams) to the varsity game friday night, that the opponent was not afforded.  What is worse, you had a member of the Cathedral coaching staff post on GID acknowledging non-compliance.  Now who's desperate when it comes to acknowleding that a team is breaking rules to gain a competitive edge?

Let's talk desperate some more...repeatedly on this forum calling the Cathedral vs CG game, the "Game of the Century".  It didn't live up to that billing....not even close. Last year's game was far better.  Further, you've stated several times how the Cathedral O line is the best in the state.  Many of us rolled our eyes, guessing you had a kid on the line, and your comments were just based on your "enthusiasm".  Well, how has that worked out?  How did the great O line in the state perform running the ball against CG on a tailored made night to run the ball between the tackles?  Greatest O line in the state...what a joke.

I'm a troll for calling out cheating when I see it...so be it.  Wouldn't expect anything different from a guy like defending it.  What a clown.

I've been to every J/V game for the last 3 years. Every one. And, there is no time we've used a Friday night player to win a J/V game. This year we have 18 senior starters out of 22. Obviously none of those kids play J/V. We are very young at QB, so if they pull O'Neill in the 4th, occasionally our J/V QB backs him up, but CoachP plays our senior QB more often in garbage time. That's the only player I can think of you might be referring to.

FWIW, I have heard much respect for the Irish defense and the defensive line in particular.

The D-line is very good. We play a 3-4. Our two tackles are Dom Seibal and Kendrick Gilbert. Both are outstanding. Kendrick has 10+ Power 5 offers (ND, Every B1G, etc). The NT rotates between two seniors Navi Neal and Kyle Coleman and one junior Patrick Kendall.

They say a linebacking crew is only as good as their down linemen. So, hats off to the DL nasties. In my opinion, the linebackers are our strength. 3 of our 5 will play in college. And they can fly. Anchored in the middle by Jack Goheen and Huddy Miller with our best defensive player at strong side OLB, Jeff Utzinger (numerous MAC offers, PWO at IU).

11 Gold is the mantra, and they play together well. Penalties have killed them. I'm guessing 4 of 8 allowed touchdowns have come from drives with more than 40 yards in penalties. Some of that is homecooking at away games, but some of that are sloppy mental errors. We'll see if they can dial up another shutout tonight.

    War Irish!

I see...so that allows you to rationaliize non-compliance/cheating.  It is not just about the JV game.  It impacts the friday night game by providing additional depth....in this case to special teams.  Depth that the opponent was not afforded.

Cathedral then had a coach foolishly post on this forum making a case for non-compliance.  It speaks loudly about the culture.

Most of us are not foolish enough to believe that when "hands are caught in the cookie jar" it is the very first time......

Haha. Such a troll. If you think Cathedral  gives a flip about J/V, you are a complete idiot. We have 10 seniors that rarely get a lick of time on Friday night. Forget about the few snaps for a J/V player. We have way bigger problems getting kids playing time on Saturday mornings than trying to stack the deck for a W that no one will ever remember or record. Desperate and hilarious.

Taking a knee in a one possession game on a sloppy wet field that had already caused at least one fumbled snap?   Doesn’t make sense.

Maybe my math was off, but I thought it was less than 1:30 left in the game? Was it more than that? If so, I stand corrected. I was so pissed off by that point, I could have easily made a mistake.

They should never slum it in 4A again.

You are forgetting that our red-neck south side second cousins are running through 4A. Someone needs to make sure the Rebels/Royals don't get any more state titles than they deserve. But, generally, I agree with you.

As for success factor gerrymandering, we never know what the IHSAA will do with us. It's why we don't go out of our way to petition anything.
