Josiah Smith. He's gonna be special. Heavyweight wrestler that can win it all too 😉

Irish take their first loss of the season. J/V loses 21-13 to St. X. A pick6 and a costly late first half fumble at the Irish 10 yard line were the difference.

Tibbs strained his hamstring playing basketball this week and didn't dress last night. Spellacy was limping at the J/V game but he looks like he'll be OK for Friday. Michael Page is fine. No idea about Kendrick.

35-7. That was a beautiful game for the Irish. 33 rushes for 45 yards. Michael Page was 6-8 for 142 and 2 tuddies. Knocked out their #1 RB Indiana Commit in the 2nd. DannyO with two insane rolling passes. One was the best I've ever seen in high school.
LaSalle had the most deplorable accommodations of an away game since Evansville Reisz 2007. No visitor parking of any kind. All paid reserved parking was for LaSalle boosters. It was a joke. Glad we beat their entitled asses. On to Brebeuf. One more W until the showdown. Trap game.

1999 was the last time Cathedral played at LaSalle. It was the night Otis Shannon rushed for 489 yards, and of course I was there. One of my buddies decided to take his wife to watch the Tall Ships, on the Ohio River, at the last minute, and he missed the game. Old George didn't miss another Cathedral football game until he passed away a few years back. You just never know what your going to see!
Just learned from a '99 player that Cathedral had zero pass attempts in the 489yard Otis Shannon game. Makes sense, but wild stat.

Best O-Line in Indiana History. 5 D1 players and 2 NFL guys on the '99 CHS OLine.

The Hammond Morton contract is a 4 year deal. They called and asked us for a long term deal as they try to build their program and wanted to play the best in the state once a year. Roncalli was never scheduled. We resume our rivalry in the '22-23 season.
And though the product on the field was not strong, CHS got to play about 70 players last night. A bunch of smiles last night from kids starving to get on that field with these 40 seniors dominating playing time.

Just say that where this game is. What a joke!!! I'm so glad Roncalli doesn't have to play the irish there!!! That game should be at U Indy or CG, or anywhere else that can actually host the event properly! I heard the Chatard game last week was a awful there. No parking. Just ridiculous! They're probably looking for any advantage they can get. Playing on a crowned crappy grass surface will be an obstacle for any team, but the irish get 4 or 5 practice games before the CG game. They'll still lose, but it stinks that this game doesn't receive the proper environment it should. Maybe they'll make some $ on the webcast??? Is that technology even accessible there???
Joke!
Update for you @StatQueen
The overflow lot at the retail center on 46th and Arlington has a new 100 yard pond in it currently equipped with 30-50 Canadian geese. I put some orange pylons at the 3 spots next to it for your reserved parking in case you're late.
You better not drive your Range Rover either. Also, bring your Tide sticks because your Trojans might get a grass stain or two on our "crappy grass surface".

Yes. Game scheduled for Arlington. Center Grove is starting to sound like the new Carmel. Pampered. We'll still serve you caviar, but wear your flak jacket.

Tommy Hannon vs the Cathedral Front 7.
Babcock, Quack, and Co. vs DannyO, Seth and the receivers.
I like our chances. If Doyle goes 0-4 and loses first round of the sectional, is he on the hot seat.

Carmel and Cathedral played every year from 2005-2010. The series was tied 3-3. There was only the one other meeting in 2020 since 2010, and none before 2005 going back to 1994, so I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but it isn't correct. Except for "They've never played us at home."
Pretty positive all those games were at Carmel...

Stadium there won't happen, not even on the radar.
Ummm, feasibility study is currently underway.

As for home field, it has been discussed for decades. Most of our coaches and ADs prefer always "playing on the road" to be battle tested come the playoffs.
Cathedral bought a sports park called Burnett Park at 50th and Mitthofer on the east side. It hosts baseball, soccer, softball, lacrosse, and has the acreage to potentially build a football stadium.
I personally love Arlington. 4 decades of CHS football. An unfriendly atmosphere. Natural grass with a domed field. A soggy west end zone in a rainstorm. And, echoes of CHS legends rising from all corners.

Was playing at Arlington part of the reason Carmel drop there game with Cathedral this year.
Ha. No. Carmel only agrees to a 1 year contract every few years as a measuring stick game. They've never played us at home.
When they lose by 4 touchdowns like last year, they run for the hills and attribute the defeat to competitive imbalance though they have 2000 boys compared to Cathedral's 500. Roncalli and Carmel are the two programs that begged out of a great rivalry series so they didn't have to be butt hurt. Roncalli finally sacked up and re-engaged.Should be an awesome new beginning in 2023-24 -

Both teams will enter week 9 undefeated.
Lets not get too far ahead. Two big rivalry games ahead with Chatard and Brebeuf. And, an insanely talented Cincy LaSalle team on the road We have some tests still on our schedule.

I would say a state championship out weighs a week 9 victory or loss.. actually I’m positive.
I think there are plenty of Irish players, coaches and fans that felt our Week 9 loss diminished our State Title last year. If we both win our classes again this year, it will come down to who wins Week9. Both of these senior classes could be historic. If Cathedral drops another to CG, the "greatest Cathedral football class" would be in jeopardy for sure.
Much work to do, but can't wait for the southsiders to converge on Arlington. -

both teams have bigger goals than that week 9 matchup.

5:30p tailgate behind the Arlington Retail Center at 52nd and Arlington. Bring a cooler. 3 minute walk to entrance.

Lets have some respect for a legendary program. We all have ebbs and flows. Excited to host the Kingsmen. Gonna be a great night at Arlington.
