  1. 2. From what I gather - if a shady businessman/woman/company wants to start paying athletes to come play for their community - that could happen before this bill was passed?? You may not have known about it - but not certain you could say it was illegal for a company to pay someone to work for them?? Pretty sure this already happens................has happened..................and would have continued to happen no matter what the IHSAA passed regarding athletes getting money.
  2. Totally agree with this. However, Im not going to pretend like taking an admin job is any LESS of a headache, less time, less stress, less scrutiny, etc. It is certainly a change of pace and some different scenery. But when I see admin having to supervise a middle school volleyball game on a random Tuesday night (just an example) I dont see how that is better or more justified for being away from family than having practice or doing something football related. Its the same but different haha!
  3. Agree 100% to what JETS is saying here. I can't/won't speak on these coach's decisions to move up to admin (money, insurance, ladder of success, etc) but the impact/outreach is NOT the same. I think it's also worth noting that the days of coaches staying in the game for 15-20-30-40 years is gone. These guys (or gals) are looking for a pay increase and change of pace. One thing about Coach Simmons, dude went out on top!
  4. Seems like a really good hire! Surprised he didnt want the football job as well! Coach Moore was a hard worker at Seymour!
  5. Springs Valley Football lost a Blackhawk legend today. Former SV Football Coach Kevin Mills lost his battle with ALS this afternoon. In honor of Coach Mills we will turn on our lights tonight. If you would join us I know it would mean alot to the family and would be a great tribute to a guy that gave Springs Valley Football decades of his life and time. Once the sun goes down I will post a picture of our field lit up in honor of Coach Mills. If you would like to share your pics of your stadiums lit up on our Facebook page (Springs Valley Blackhawk Football) that would be awesome and I know how much it would mean to the family.

  6. New pressbox looks great! Matches the field.
  7. You may very well be right. I'm only going off of the few social media posts I saw immediately following the announcement where these coaches were actively recruiting.
  8. I don't think its coincidence that we are getting resignations after the IHSAA released their new "transfer" rule. Unfortunately some coaches think that rule was put in place for them and not student athletes. Grown adults will take advantage of this and abuse it and I think we will continue to see coaches that never saw themselves as "recruiters" stepping away. Hopefully this is completely on Coach Ward's own terms. Best of luck Coach Ward (and Coach Daming).
  9. Its a shame that we had leaders make a ruling like this "for the kids" and in the few days since this was released the ADULTS in this profession have taken it upon themselves to make this ruling about them. When a coach makes a blatant recruiting tweet, he did that for his gain. It's unfortunate that the adults involved have to make it about them.
  10. This is good to know. I find it ironic that a page like that makes his posts about high school football coaches that are on the hot seat or need to be fired, and then asks the same general public to sponsor/fund his page so he can "promote" the game.
  11. Do I think they WOULD shave off those kids to stay, probably not. Do I think it would be easier for them to affect enrollment numbers (in their favor) than a public school? Absolutely.
  12. Covid, recruiting, location, success, facilities, the list goes on and on. I don't really care the "reason". Just seems incredibly ironic that Providence has a 1A enrollment for a small period of time and then once they win it all their enrollment all of the sudden increases to a number that would have clearly had them a class up. How convenient. As a previous poster stated, I am sure the 1A/Providence example is not the only one of this across all classes.
  13. While I agree with JQWL that this could be done, I also understand that it could be difficult. Especially in the current climate where students move to different schools more often than before. I would think this happens much more in your larger communities/schools which would mean enrollment numbers are almost constantly changing. All of that said, how in the world can the 1A state champs go from an enrollment that classifies them in 1A and then the next time the count comes out they are significantly larger than multiple 2A teams, including the 2A champs and runner up. That is ridiculous.
  14. I'm sure I missed this somewhere but when teams move up due to SF are the sectionals they left realigned at all? Or their spot just left open?
  15. Congratulations to Coach See! Very happy for him. He is a young coach and a "Mitchell guy" that will work hard to see his Bluejackets have success. Been involved with the baseball programs of late so he has seen some success up close. Good luck Coach!
