  1. I think a Carmel split squad could compete in sectional 2.
  2. Being a Penn guy, I am bias towards Ben Davis, love the program and I love how they have been able to be among the states best almost every year. I don't know who wins this game, it is literally two Titans on 6A throwing down. I hope BD wins, 24-21 BD late score puts them over.
  3. Goodbye NIC South. It was fun while it lasted. So long favorable NIC schedule. It was fun while it lasted. Tootles Mishawka rivalry, because you will likely be dropped due playing 7 conference games moving forward. Cannot wait to see Washington and Riley back on that schedule moving forward.... yep cannot wait.
  4. @Staxawax I am happy for you guys. Good luck this week and well hopefully next week as well
  5. Sure, there is no disagreement that football is the dominant male sport in our country. But, I found it interesting how it appears that Penn and Carmel maybe a reflection of situations. Large school populations (Penn still fields a large team) but overall talent is not the same as years prior. I assume Carmel's overall number of players is still high. Is it a cycle for this current batch of players in the school? Is it something being played out in the homes? Could it be something within the program itself that is causing the teams to be not as competitive to their normal standards? I think Penn's issue is they cannot recruit their (within their school) best players. I also believe, while they have a developmental football league, the high school staff is not as involved with that league as they used to be. When Geesman was around, he and his staff were around the games, not every game but enough to where we kids took notice. We ran the base elements of the Penn offense....From what I am hearing from boosters and others this is not the case right now.
  6. Man, what a let down of a season. Northridge is going to walk through Wawasee.
  7. This seems to make sense, because the word is that Penn's best don't play football anymore. Rather than playing multiple sports, more students are specializing and that is taking away from the talent pool that Penn had the benefit of picking from. Also, a lot of parents up in our area just think football is going to lead to long term health issues, and prevent their children from participating in the sport. My child attends a local catholic middle school up here, and I was helping with the schools middle school football team, from what I was told just in the last five years they went from a team of two deep to no longer being a team. We were so low on numbers we were absorbed by another school. Soccer participation is up in these schools and Lax participation is up as well. Football is declining. I am not shocked that Carmel may be suffering from parents who think they are doing what is best for their child and even specialization.
  8. What happened to Riley last weekend? I mean Wawasee is bad...
  9. That sectional if you just look at the records is pretty dang good. Every team is 6-3 or better.
  10. Well, wishful thinking is the next best thing.
  11. like I said, it all depends on some variables. like change of focus in the football program, new coach or new scheme something has to give. If those things don't happen, they would reside at or near the bottom of the HCC.
  12. I know this is how sectionals work, but can we also point out that Bloomington North and South are both playing this weekend and we will be without one of the top 5A schools going into next week as well.
  13. Possibly by that over a span of a few seasons Penn might be able to adjust to the level of play and compete for higher positioning in the conference. Idk it all depends on some other variables.
  14. It is crazy to think that BD or Brownsburg wont be in next weeks poll.
  15. Elkhart (3-6) at Penn (8-1), 7 pm: Yay we get to play for a sectional title....shoot it is at Carroll (more than likely) Concord (5-4) at Adams (1-8), 7 pm: Concord could sleepwalk through this game to a win. New Prairie (8-2) at Kankakee Valley (5-5), 8 pm: NP. I was worried about their O last week, they woke back up and now look like they are going to be a very tough out in 4A Washington (3-7) at NorthWood (8-2), 7 pm: Northwood could also sleepwalk through this game to a win. Fairfield (6-4) at Glenn (6-4), 7 pm: I've been on the Falcons bandwagon all season...come on boys! Wheeler (6-3) at Bremen (5-5), 7:30 pm: I hope the Lions can keep their season going.
  16. .500 if that, in my honest opinion.
  17. Well that is fair. If I was in your position I would feel the same. Lol
  18. 1. Beech Grove @ Muncie Central 2. Culver Academy @ Lowell 3. Hobart @ New Prairie 4. Pendleton Heights @ Greenfield-Central 5. Danville @ Tri-West 6. Lawrenceburg @ Centerville 7. Scottsburg @ North Harrison 8. Twin Lakes @ Boone Grove 9. Western Boone @ North Montgomery 10. Andrean @ LaVille 11. Bluffton @ Alexandria 12. Eastbrook @ Frankton 13. Evansville Mater Dei @ Tell City 14. Greencastle @ North Putnam 15. Sullivan @ Southmont 16. Clinton Prairie @ Covington 17. North Miami @ Southern Wells 18. Pioneer @ North Judson
  19. From my seat here in Mishawaka, they seemed to have rebounded well from their tough loss to Homestead...
  20. Yes, but even with the big boys, it is the wrong selection... I don't mean to beat a dead horse...but Cathedral beat Penn soundly and yet Cathedral because they have lost a few games is ranked well below Penn. Strike 1 right there.
  21. Yes, sorry...I got my signals crossed. haha
  22. They played a very comparable schedule in non conference games.
  23. Always the contrarian BTF. lol It would be nice to see someone else take home the title this year.
  24. If Valpo goes back to back that would be huge. I personally think Snider gets the job done this year over Valpo, but those Bloomington Schools look good.
