  1. I like it. I think Bloomington South has the most impressive 5A v 5A win ousting North last week, but what Snider did to Warren and then beat a good Carroll team is hard to overlook. I went with recent outcome bias. Valpo's two losses come against 6A schools with a combined record of 19-1.
  2. 5A is very heavy on Northern teams.
  3. Too be fair Temp, that is a good top 6.
  4. I think that depending on how some games fall teams such as Penn, Warsaw, Lawrence North and Fishers could find their was sitting at the door step of the four in. Fishers and LN are not far off as they sit right now. If they win their sectional championships They are sitting at 5 and 6. Depending who wins the Penn v Warsaw game has a good shot a f'in around and finding themselves in a Semi-state game....where they both will be sever underdogs.
  5. I only ask, because there have been situations when he was at Miskawaka that when it came to clock management did not make sense. Sounds like he has improved at that over time.
  6. Since the first CFP rankings come out today, lets see who your four teams in and first two out are in 5A. 1. Bloomington South 2. Snider 3. Valpo 4. Harrison WL 5. Merrillville 6. Decatur Central
  7. Since the first CFP rankings are coming out tonight, lets see who your four teams in are and who your first two out are. (of remaining playoff teams) 1. Ben Davis 2. Center Grove 3. Westfield 4. HSE 5. Cathedral 6. CP
  8. Warsaw at Penn, 7 pm: Anytime Penn goes into a game against an option offense, I get nervous. I expect Warsaw to come out fast and put Penn on their heals, similar to the Mishawaka game. The game boils down to the play of the Offense...can Penn move the ball through the air to back off some of the DB's and Linebackers of Warsaw to open up the run game. Penn could also push their WR out around the numbers to open up running lanes in the middle of the field. (but, that is unlikely) Penn wins a tight game 17-14 New Prairie at Culver Academy, 7:30 pm: I think NP wins this game and shakes off some ego, NP 28-7 Glenn at Knox, 7 pm: Knox is a dang good team. This does not go well for Glenn. Bremen at LaVille, 7 pm: LaVille finally has the pathway to a deep tournament run. LaVille takes care of business.
  9. Do you have issues with Bart's handling of the clock in late or pressure situations? Penn's coaches are so hot and cold when it comes to clock management, sometimes they are on top of it and others they don't seem to have a clue.
  10. Dude it was like 10+ seasons ago, I remember this team lining up from beyond mid field for a field goal. I apologize for not knowing the exact rule. Your input is greatly appreciated.
  11. So, Penn wants to throw the ball, but are best at running the ball north and south. If Warsaw puts 8 or 9 guys in the box and we run zone, we will be in for a world of hurt...4 or 5 yard losses each play. Penn can throw the ball, they have length and speed at the WR position which has not always been the case in the last 5 or so seasons.
  12. So, I hate playing Bart led teams because the option is so difficult to slow down. I know there is limited snaps with the actual starter, has fumbling been an issue this year? I think Warsaw smacks Penn in the mouth early Friday night. The D, like the Mishawaka game will tighten up. But, if Penn cannot lift the top off the Warsaw D, it is going to be a long night at Freed Field.
  13. Well, almost ten or so years ago, Washington found a loop hole in the rule that a missed field goal from any location on the field the ball is spotted at the opposing teams 20yd line....Now, Washington had a kicker with a heck of a leg, but I don't know why or if teams put a returner back to field the field goal attempt. But, they would line up for field goals on their own 40....so, if you cannot punt just try a field goal lol.
  14. I feel this way about what they did with basketball this past season...two games in semi-state? Penn beats the brakes off of Hammond Central, then comes out cold to get (in my opinion of the rules) jobbed against Kokomo....to watch Ben Davis then dominate Kokomo at state...Not saying Penn would have won, but they had the shooters to give Ben Davis a game. They already played them earlier in the season, and knew what they would be getting at State... Maybe not the exact same, but I think similar. I feel I am going to get heat for this opinion.
  15. I agree 100%, as long as our coaching staff stays in position, I doubt that will occur. Penn coaching staff preaches respecting your opponents. They probably look at sending the JV squad to play them as disrespectful. Also, not having the required conference games, will likely disqualify Penn from winning the NIC title....(something the current staff cares about a lot)
  16. The option offense is always hard to prepare for.
  17. Penn is likely in for a long night Penn tries to run zone, but struggles laterally, but they do run north and south well.
  18. It was Avon wasn't it?
  19. That is what scares me... Games in which the Penn offense looked bad or struggled in: Cathedral Elkhart (Game 1) St. Joe New Prairie The offense at times struggled in the Morton game and the Marian game.
  20. Is Warsaw's defense consistent enough to put together back to back games like the game vs Carroll? Is the starting QB a more effective passer than the backup? Or, is it he is just so much more of a threat on the ground than the backup?
  21. What style of Offense is Carroll running? I am assuming Gun with a mobile QB?
  22. @BTF @Komets2727 You guys have seen so much more of Snider, than I have and appreciate your input on Fort Wayne schools. The beauty of HS football is if anyone lays an egg or does an epic face plant they can get beat on pretty much any given Friday night. My thoughts on Mishawaka, they can and will likely hurt themselves. They are one of the most talented Mishawaka teams I have seen take the football field, that is also including the Waka teams that won 4 straight against Penn. But, they still seem to posses the shoot themselves in the foot gene. If Snider plays a clean game, they should win that game....It will be tough given it will be at Steele Stadium, but it is a winnable game.
  23. tough coaches breed....maybe not the right word...produce...create...idk anyways.. you know the saying... tough players
  24. Penn's recent run of shutouts I think are misleading... No offense to the NIC team, not named New Prairie, but they are not good at all. I think Penn's D, has not been tested since game 3 of the season...I cannot speak to the New Prairie game, it was very out of character for them with their lack of production that night. If Penn can fend off an early punch to the face, there is a good chance they win this game. But, the Offense has to show up from snap 1, if they don't Warsaw is too dangerous of a team to f' around with..
  25. We were stunned last night. I thought it would be a good tight game, given that is how Warsaw plays...but I thought Carroll's experience would shine through. Most of our fans were even saying at half...it isn't over Carroll will put it back together. Kuddos to Warsaw, they didn't let that happen.
