Any chance you know where Westfield's future enrollment is projected? I'm seeing a lot of the rural areas in the western portion of their district (north and south of 32) rapidly being developed.

Nothing specific, but I am betting the high school hits 3000+ by either next year or 2026.

Not arguing either way. Was kind of surprised when looking at the Indiana Salary Database Would be willing to say those are two of the higher (if not highest) paying coaching jobs in the state....along with some of the best facilities and student-athletes to choose from in the state.

If this doesn’t open eyeballs, nothing will.

I think that speaks volumes about their coach, but he's no longer there. What makes Westfield a Top 5 job for the new coach? Are you speaking of culture?  Carroll (Fort Wayne) for instance. Great facilities, great community, growing community. I have no clue about their pay structure, although I'm sure it's better than FWCS. I'm presuming Westfield boasts those things as well. Maybe the position is well compensated?

I know you may view this as me being some sort of hater but my admiration for Carroll, specifically is well-documented on this very website.  But eventually (and maybe its already happening) Carroll is going to get bored as they are trending in the opposite direction as the majority of their conference.  Hence, part of the reason they are scheduling Indy schools?  You'd know more than me.

Westfield does not have to travel more than 45-60 minutes from its own 50-yard line and can play heavyweights on a weekly basis, which is an extension of my #4.

Not sure what you're getting at, I don't recall saying leaving Westfield for Wabash was a lateral move. What am I missing?

My bad.  Went back and re-read your post.

Originally thought you were implying that "if Westfield is a top 5 job then why is this guy leaving?".

He left for a college job man, hardly a lateral move.

What separates Westfield from Carroll, Homestead, Fishers, Carmel, HSE, Zionsville, Brownsburg, Center Grove, Avon, Penn, Ben Davis, etc? Legitimate question. I'm counting 10-15 schools that are right up there. What makes them Top 5?

    1.  Money, great SES, two parent households, etc.

    2.  One of, if not THE fastest growing area of population in the state.

    3.  Facilities are top notch.

    4.  Best conference in Indiana FORCES them to stay competitive (a rising tide raises all boats).

    5.  Recent state championship appearance/success that can be sold as a cultural piece to the current crop of student athletes.

    6.  Pay/teaching schedule.

    Just my opinion.

  6. What an embarrassment that was last night.  Should have known it was doomed when dude took the podium 20 minutes late.

Dude ran on “unity” 4 years ago and just squinted and yelled at the camera for over an hour while ostracizing half of the country’s voters who dare to challenge his views.

The views on voter ID laws from white folk at Berkley and black folk from Harlem.  Very interesting comparison.  My favorite line "Who don't have ID? That's ignorant to say we don't have ID" - "Who these people talking to?".

    He got 23

It always impresses me to see what the skill guys do for strength numbers

I was talking about combine results in general but will punt so to not hijack another football thread and rope anyone else into my eternal victory lap…for now, lol.

Speaking of which, anyone seen @Bash Riprock recently?  I haven’t since before the Michigan victory parade in Ann Arbor.  He was on the back of a fire truck with Harbaugh.

    Who has the longer arms?

This is actually a fair point and the correct answer but triggering @Bobref is so damn fun and easy.

It took him less than 20 minutes to reply.

Good for him. Now let’s see which goes higher in the draft.

Amazing he was able to do it with that heavy ass national title ring on his finger too.

    Can’t be overlooked.

That the opinion was unanimous is very significant. Increases the legitimacy of the decision … and the Court.

I didn’t watch.  Did the Supreme Court kick three field goals or was it a TD/XP/safety combo?  Either way, hell of a defensive effort.

Imagine thinking those wanting to let the people speak with their votes as the threat to democracy and not those trying to actively remove a party’s leading candidate from the ballot.

What a bunch of nut jobs.

Are those 18 all starters? What about the other 45 that dress for a game?

Michigan rotated heavily at the DL position this season so I guess you could say so.  Three of those 18 are DL.

6 of the above are OL as Jones subbed in once Zinter went down against OSU.

    Barner was a backup TE.

  13. Furthering my point above (and I know folks are likely tired of my Michigan victory lap), Michigan just won the national title with guys who had the following 247 composite ranking coming out of high school.  These are the 18 Wolverines attending the combine in Indy this week.

    McCarthy - 38th

    Colson - 102nd

    Jones - 109th

    MacGregor - 123rd

    Johnson - 160th

    Barnhart - 161st

    Keegan - 184th

    Wilson - 219th

    Corum - 232nd

    Zinter - 249th

    Jenkins - 502nd

    Sanristil - 589th

    Henderson - 730th

    Barrett - 751st

    Barner 1131st

    Wallace NR

    Nugent NR

    Harrell - NR

    Harrell - NR

I suppose you can win without elite QB play … if you surround your “good” QB with 5 star talent at every other position. But as you pointed out, “ND simply isn't going to "out five star" the usual guys (Bama, OSU, UGA).”

I'd argue however that 3/4 stars with a bit of a chip on their shoulder are often better than 5 stars though I don't really have much data to support it.

Rod Moore, the Michigan DB with the game clinching INT against OSU was a 3 star from Ohio and passed over by the Buckeyes.  That kind of stuff matters when building a team.
