I meant to post this earlier but I got wrapped around the axle on other things, and you may have already seen it. South's JV team blasted the Arties 60-0 to move to 2-0. The freshmen beat the Arties 32-24 to move to 1-0-1. It certainly looks like we have help coming with so many seniors in the starting lineup this year.
Wow. Massive disparity in these two games. What is going on at JV? Everyone playing varsity or frosh ball?

My friend is a hardcore THN guy who played on the team with Anthony Thompson and was highly involved all the years his kids grew up. But, after his youngest moved on to college soccer, THN was in the rearview and he never looked back, tailgates at ISU over a decade now........and Barrett left. So, do not know anything about their colossal downfall.

Holding out on how far Martinsville has dropped off from last year, but saw Greenwood for awhile last week at IC. They threw the ball, I think, six times in first quarter. SHOCKING change from what they have run previously. Anyway, holding out on their offensive abilities since IC seems so young on defense, but Greenwood defense did not appear to be ready for prime time. They have some interior size, though.
Last year's sectional showdown was such a brutal beating by Martinsville, the type of game the mercy rule was designed for.

BNL looks disadvantaged at moment, but we never know about those tricky little balls the IHSAA, in it's infinite wisdom, uses to determine the draw. Sometimes they bounce and may make BNL play at East Central first round or they may put BNL in a bracket with the 3 other weakest teams of sectional 24 and home advantaged.

Snider was very good in 1981. Rod Woodson, Dieter Heren and a lot of line size I recall.

Greenwood at IC just pushed back to 8pm kick.

Snider was without their starting QB and it still took Carmel overtime to win that game. I think they could make a case for best of all time along with 92', 97', and 04'.
Without qb is impressive. did not recall that. Both teams in that game had superior defenses and Dunbar one of the greatest backs in state history.
The young Rohrbacher is really good.
-
Still think the Vaughn Dunbar, Brock Rohrbacher team was so good. That championship game with Carmel in 1986 was epic. Both teams fell to the championship squads the year before as their only losses that season. 2004 Snider was very good as well though.

Warren-another terrible offensive start to a season. Will see how they progress.

Time updates. DC kicks at 7:30 and Whiteland at 8.

Greenwood at Indian Creek-will see this game
Martinsville at Bloomington South-IF south is real, they should ragdoll the Artesians after Martinsville came back late at home against BNL. If you want to watch MOR football, here is your link to that game.

lol, did a MS DH last night and I don’t remember the score from either game, I know Madison won the 8th grade game.
Well, yes. However, you always wonder when they were coming off some down years and coaching change after 18 seasons (when Rick Wimmer last there). That 2022 Martinsville sectional game was so brutal.

Michigan was intensely going all out hard cracking in the practice that BIG10 network was at.

For Greenwood, IDK what this means for current varsity, but found out Indian Creek results this week.
7th grade WINs 28-16 vs Greenwood8th grade WINs 38-0 vs Greenwood -

South will have a new QB under center in Jarrin Alley. He backed up Zach David the past two seasons, but saw a lot of downs under center. Coach Johnson made sure last season that he got a least two series under center in each game, and with many of the games being blowouts, he saw more than that. Two seasons ago, as a soph, he guided South to the game winning drive in the sectional against North after David went down with an injury, so he is definitely experienced and had been in pressure situations. He has a strong running game to back him up with Gavin Adams who is capable of quite of few 100+ yard games and he has experience backing him up in Ben Morrison. South is also returning a strong receiver group to include at tight end. On paper they should be one of the favorites to make it to at least the semi-state barring a rash of key injuries.
How does depth look? In the 90's under MO, they just reloaded and they had phenomenal talent.

This week’s games:
Bedford North Lawrence at Martinsville
Columbus East at 5A #5 Bloomington South
Floyd Central at 6A #4 Louisville St. Xavier
Greenwood at Seymour
New Albany at Franklin
South Dearborn at Jennings County
5A #3 Whiteland at Jeffersonville
Notes:
-IHSAA rankings are coaches poll rankings only. Kyle Neddenriep stated on Twitter that there won’t be a media poll this week due to an issue with the voting website.
-Louisville St. X’s ranking came from Max Preps as I couldn’t find an official KHSAA 6A poll.
Martinsville lost a lot, really a lot of multi-year seniors (especially defense) and big stat qb from a team that was mowed over by EC in consecutive sectional championships. IDK what will see.
Franklin lost Clark, Baker and some key players. But they have Pinnick back at qb. That is something to build on.
Is this the year that a Bloomington team is a 5A player again. Some oddly, eerily quiet tournament nights in Btown lately driving by those fields.
Greenwood. IDK. will see them at IC next week.
Whiteland reloads more often than not under Coach Fisher.

Guerin Catholic is in Chatard sectional. The toughest 3A games Chatard has played often is Guerin and/or Marian.

Outside of the Memorial battles.

Everyone chasing Chatard is expected. Is it such as a dog chasing a car, though?

I believe it depends heavily on the support level/buy-in from the parents and community. How well do the fans travel? How much do they get "into the game"?
Granted I haven't been to a HS game in Indiana for a good while so you may be correct for Hoosier ball, but I can tell you in the lone star state where I reside now, that argument about the atmosphere lacking won't hold water.
Example: You know local support may be an issue when hometown team is on road playing for sectional championship, you get off work late, head into town to get carryout (listening to beginning of game on radio), and notice the local establishments are packed and no promo/school spirit signs/banners around town.

The Penn teams of the 90's were strong up front on both sides of the ball. Most of their games were won in the trenches.
That 83 team was awesome

So often, pre-season polls are wrecked by mid=season.
