Speaking of Ro Elliott, he rushed for 91 yds on 17 carries and 2 TD’s and a couple catches out of the backfield for Southern Illinois in a tough 20-17 OT FCS playoff loss against Idaho. I believe his final collegiate game.

Should have won that one. Does he not have another yr if he wants it due to Covid?

  2. No one even mentioned Matt Canada.

................ In other news, Tom Allen just finished a Bahama Mama and now getting ready for sunset dinner at The Stoned Crab.........

  3. Interior is correct.  right where the two native dudes left last year for other fields. Also, you can never have enough dudes who can play edge/inhibit route/passing lanes. With the new additions in 2024, this league will do some adjusting to new offensive emphasis. You are not defending Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin power run anymore. Also, this may be some of the success Ohio St had with their receivers in Myer/Day era (besides they had many of the best receivers any team saw).

  4. If I am Tom Allen, I am on a beach in the Bahamas on a multi-week vacation with my family thinking this is the greatest thing that could have happened. $ and getting out of that horrible gig at IU. My agent already is informing suitors what does and does not motivate me for the next DC position I take. Heck, I am looking for a dream job that I can be all in on since I already have $.

And as a DC, I think his spirit does translate to his guys if they know he is all in on them, just not when you are trying to beat the MAC cellar at home in overtime as the head coach.

  5. American Tackle Football has 11 offensive positions, 11 defensive positions, a punter and kicker and 10 other positions for punting and kicking teams, which makes it the greatest team game. Basketball has only five positions.

While small school vs largest school basketball may have some merit, a 1A or 2A football champ vs a 6A  football champ may be an absurdity due to the number of top level players and number of plays in a game.

Will someone mention what about fill in the blank player who played on fill in the blank team? We could single out 2003 Chatard (3A in a time of 5 classes) for example. Could they have been competitive against Penn? Don't know. 2003 Warren Central had some asinine speed and power. And football has continued developing in Indiana the last 20 years.

I agree as far as the assumptions go about controlling enrollment. The same can be said when the r word is thrown out when the term people are actually referring to is undue influence. And the difference between recruiting and undue influence is pretty significant.

The r word-made me think of that Black Eyed Peas song, "Let's Get Retarded."

I am not close to the program but @Lysander can't keep secrets and on rare occasions our brain waves sync up (when we actually use them) or at least reminisce about the days of CJB and Ly gets a sugar high. I digress in honor of Lysander's utter appreciation for how the IHSAA handles things with infinite wisdom, he will be suggesting to Coach Doyle to take all non starters and those not on the two-deep and write them on ping pong balls and select the 2 unlucky contestants. Unless of course one of those unlucky contestants mother is on the list to wash the uniforms from the previous game,

then a 3rd ping pong ball will be drawn

.Good night in the daytime! How many balls does Bobby Cox have?????? Table tennis anyone?

Just had to go out and bring up "Coach Junction Boy" some of the newer posters can't handle learning about CJB. Careful with those Bit 'O Honey's we don't want too many dentist visits!

Back in my day, Manual, Tech, Broad Ripple, Washington, Attucks, and even Northwest were very good in sports. This was the late 60's, early 70's. You are correct about it ruining not only their identities, but their feeling of community. As a kid, I remember Broad Ripple's run to the title game of the 1963 Semi State, where they lost to Muncie Central. After they won what then was one of the toughest sectional in the state, the one at Butler, the entire Broad Ripple community and area where those kids lived were decked out, businesses with signs, banners, all in orange and black. Fast forward to their 1980 state championship run. Almost nothing like that was seen. Many of the kids on that team did not live in the area. The feeling of the community was not the same.

So surprised that Jeff Robinson, future NFL safety Stacey Toran and King Duke may not have been from the district. Coach Smith........
