About to find out how much of a figure head Dabo is.  Lost his OC/DC in the same year.

Venable was with him for years. Both his DC and OC received promotions to head coaches at Oklahoma and Virginia respectively.

Then he promotes current Clemson coaches to the OC and DC positions.

Sounds like the role of a leader…develop their people.

    What a jerk….

ND has 2 Indiana kids in the 21 player early signing class that committed this past week: two OL, one from Zionsville and the other from Lawrenceburg. That’s about 20% of their class.

Nationally, there are a little over 1 million boys playing 11 man football. A little over 20,000 — about 2% — come from Indiana. I wouldn’t say ND’s recruiting emphasis unduly excludes Indiana.

Good catch Bobref...I saw the young man from LB...just missed his commitment to ND.

Really wasn't an opinion either way.  Just highlighting this year's offers.  I appreciate both skill and academic standards requires them to focus nationally.  But it looks like Indiana kids received 4 of ND's approximate 175 offers.  (2.3%)  I guess their offers align with the national numbers you provided.

Yet Brownsburg had a few more players in those rankings and still lost, albeit with a "month to prep". WC has a monster freshman class coming in and they'll be top dogs soon enough in the new MIC.

WC, BD, LC (Mickens, plus others), and LN(just sent three to FBS programs), will be just fine. Even Pike and NC are sending players to higher levels in the '23 class.

Can we stop with the "MIC is dead" narrative. They'll still be high caliber players and programs in the conference and they'll battle with the same programs they've battled with the past 25 years.

We have no idea what the next 20 years will look like, the projections and guesses crack me up.

Well stated...I have watched tremendous athletes come out of the MIC for years and do great things at the next level.  It was a huge source of pride to have my kids compete in the MIC.  I have no doubt about the next generation of great MIC athletes in football among other sports.

I'll always be a MIC fan...while I cheered for "my team" when they played, I love cheering on the MIC and all Indy metro players at the next level.  I know change is a part of life, and I understand revenue and focus on all sports instead of my favorite is the driving force, but will miss the rivalries.  As I mentioned in an earlier post about CG's 2 year run, the Trojans have played BD and WC four and three times respectively in the last 2 seasons.  Those are rivalries that won't be the same.  That bums me out.

Indy Metro needs their conferences to prosper....I have no doubt they will.

Not if they are a state traitor.

    Traitor?

You mean to those same state universities that have no problem admitting an out of state student over a state resident student because it means more $$.

Go check out the rosters of IU, Purdue, ISU, Ball State football teams.  They are chocked full of out of stats traitors.

Its been in the news for months.  Select GID members leaked inside infoirmation.  You cant let that happen when you are supposedly looking for a new conference home.  CG and CA were arrogant and dumb enough to think that they could do this out in the open with no ramifications. Hopefully they have a both learned a lesson that their hubris has ultimately lessened their collective negotiating strength and weakened their position.

You can paint as rosy picture as you want inside the halls in WRT, but publicly The MIC humiliated both schools and gave them a lesson on correct protocol for this type of situation

How do you know who leaked what??  You speculate and somehow this makes it truth?  Do you have any source besides a message board?? 😝

You teach someone a lesson by acting like a scorned middle schooler?

If I go back in the archives, would I find any past posts from DT about the HCC becoming the future power conference? Or am I confusing you?  (I may be)

Sorry to be the wet blanket but Linemen don’t win it and haven’t since the second award in 1993 to Bo Barzilauskas.  Although they often should.  Actually PROBABLY should most years.

Look, everybody paying attention knew Zack Martin of Chatard (2008 season) was going to start somewhere on Sundays.

    EVERYBODY.

He’s a pretty certain NFL Hall of Fame player at this point and likely the best Indiana football player in the NFL since Rod Woodson.

He wasn’t even considered.  DIDN’T GET A SNIFF.  I think there is a Marion County or Indianapolis Lineman of the Year award given out - he didn’t win that either.

I admit schools promote this stuff like the Oscars these days…which bothers me more than a little.

I have no horse in this race.  I’d love to see a lineman win - but they don’t.  Regardless how great they are.

Maybe things will change this year, but to be clear, there have been much worse “travesties” as regards recognition of lineman in years past if one fails to win this year.

No disagreement. Zack Martín was and still is a beast!!  As good as it gets.

My comments about Curry is that he played and excelled in all 3 phases of the game. He lined up in multiple defensive and offensive positions. He was the long snapper. He had punt blocks and many special teams tackles in his career. It’s his versatility and the ability to excel at these positions is why I call him the best all around player. That is not a negative on anyone else. It’s just a difference. Why some who want others to win the award attempt to diminish Curry’s accomplishments and abilities, it’s just laughable.

But that being said, I agree and have stated it over and over…history tells us lineman don’t win this award. As I’ve said prior multiple times,  don’t expect it to be any different this year.

You can miss me with that “I’m better than you” attitude.

everyone has already read your 5 posts about how you’re so smart because you fully understand stats don’t mean anything and you have an acquired attention to detail on all things that don’t show up on paper.

BTW, Curry blocking as a FB is good for the RBs not the QB so much.  I’m terribly sorry that a person with such low football intellect has to inform you of this but I couldn’t possibly let you make a fool of yourself any more.  I don’t mean to be a bother…I’m just so dumb and don’t know football and can only hope to be as wise as you one day.

Curry just didn’t block from the offensive backfield during his time at CG.

    Enjoy the holidays.

You can’t tell me to not compare apples and oranges and then sit here and ask why a QB isn’t playing defense or special teams.

Curry was great getting those handoffs in the finals….but I’m not going to pretend that 16 carries all season (or whatever it was) is something to pound the table on.  GK3 played a little TE and made a nice snag in the redzone during his state finals game.  Nobody really cared.

I think the rushing thing has been way overstated and people act like it carries a lot of weight when it really doesn’t

I get it…you are one of those guys that believes your candle burns brighter when you attempt to blow out the candles of others…..

People are going to be split on this…and that’s just the way it is.  As I said, historically, this award is about offense. Relax a little.  No need to try and convince anyone.

BTW, Curry just didn’t carry the ball when playing offense.  He blocked.  Something QB’s really appreciate.

  9. LOL...Fall back.  Let's see how many defensive players have won the award since its beginning in 1992?  ONE.  That's not preparing for a fall back...that's called dealing with reality.

Allen may be the best offensive player in the state. (assuming we ignore that he doesn't play the highest caliber of competition)  He is not the best all around player in the state.  Not by a long shot.  If he were, we would have some STATS (lol) that are not just on the offensive side of the ball.

Allen had a great state championship game at the 3A level.  5 TD's and 3 picks. But he was not playing against Westfield.  Brady also didn't play on defense and multiple special teams.  When CG needed a first down in their title game, they brought in a defensive player and put the ball in his hands.  Did Brady ever come in and play defense on critical plays?  Was he long snapping and playing other special teams?

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion....matters not to me.  We agree that Allen is an excellent QB.  Curry is an excellent all around football player and according to some very big power 5 schools, a heck of a defensive lineman.  4 year starter in the MIC.  Can you say that about your guy at 3A?

Let’s compare him to Popeye Williams.

played a very tough 6A schedule

also had 7 sacks and no forced fumbles.  Had 4 less TFLs.  The only thing that separates Curry from PW is that Curry has more career success and awards but many of them are team based.  His case in terms of a single season performance isn’t much different than PWs

if it’s based on only the senior season, it’s probably hauser vs Allen

if it involves the career, it’s Allen vs Curry.

If all you see is stats, then you see football at a superficial level.

Curry played defense, offense and a number of special teams and had impact at all 3.  Teams did run away from him...and he constantly had double teams.

The young man played on offense as needed at fullback, wingback, TE and on the offensive line.  Who else at those number of positions.  Defensively at DE, DT and at times LB.  Name one other player that has been asked to play and be impactful at some many different positions.

Crazy part...4 year starter...playing in the MIC.  Who else??  And as a lineman!  Total disrupter.  There is no better all around player in the state.  But I believe most of us accept that the award historical goes to offensive players.  Its not right, but it is what it is.....

In the press release the remaining 6 claim Carmel and CG are "culturally re-aligning" but isn't that exactly what they did with this move? Not saying the move was wrong or anything, just find it ironic that they did exactly what they accused the other 2 of doing. We live in strange times.

The MIC press release used those words, pointing toward the words used by the media.  I have yet to find a source that ties those words being used by Carmel and CG.  Bottom line, the MIC member schools were scorned and that is the language they used.  Not the 2 schools.

Does improving school economics and raising competition and opportunities for student athletes not mean anything?

Carmel and CG dominated sports such as tennis, golf, cross country, softball,  soccer, swimming, baseball, etc.  Then the post season would come, and sometimes results weren't as good.  (exception Carmel girls swimming)  These schools realize playing tougher competition in the conference improves team performance overall.

I've sat in the football stands over the years on a friday night and sometime could count visiting MIC fans on 2 hands.  Worse Saturday morning.  And football, like it or not, is a revenue sports that pays a lot of bills for the athletic department.

Respectfully disagree with your opinion.  This move makes CG look selfish and arrogant, and comes directly on top of the recent incident at the state finals, which shed a very poor light on the school.

You know nothing about the incident, other than from the local media.  You have no idea how that incident has been managed by the school and the athletic program.  That incident has nothing to do with the decision that had been in the works for a long, long time.

Selfish and arrogant...because they have to think about gate revenues to feed their program and providing better competition for a number of sports besides football.  Ridiculous.

You ignored my question? Was the MIC selfish and arrogant when they pushed out the Terre Haute schools to make room for 2 local Indy township high schools??

You are now doing nothing more than being a sh*t stirrer....and that's pretty darn low.

At the end of the day, schools have to do what is best for them and their students.  Period.

CG is being publicly accused of being a disloyal member of its conference. That's an ugly accusation, but unfortunately true.   Its a black mark that stains the shine that has emanated from everything that they have accomplished in building that program.

BTW - I appreciate the tens of thousands of page views you have contributed to my total over the years.  Ive always known you were one of my biggest readers.

You are really reaching....schools leave conferences all the time.  All the time.   CG's decision to move has zero impact on their past and present accomplishments.  The decision to leave was based on factors that go well beyond football.

Was in a black mark on the MIC when they pushed out the Terre Haute schools to make room for local Indy schools??  At that time, the MIC did what was best for them, and now 2 schools are doing the same.  Nothing more or less.

So you agree with me? You can't tell the difference between forming an opinion and making a claim without any supporting data or evidence? Thanks for playing I guess?

People do it all the time on GID.  Learn to ignore it if it bothers you.  Nobody if forcing you to respond in the manner that you do.  That is 100% under your control.

And yes...I do understand the difference.  No need to be condescending.

Thank you for making my point.....after all, you are the smartest guy on GID.

You have serious issues dude....you are so ate up with not measuring up, it forces you to strike at people.  But only behind a keyboard is my guess.

Calling you out on your BS isn't a personal attack by the way.

The manner in which you disagree absolutely are personal attacks.  Go back and read your responses.  Foxbat disagreed with HHF in a very positive manner....not making it personal.  Read his response and then with an open mind read yours.  Not sure why the bitterness or why you feel the need to demean others having an opinion differently than yours.  It really is a shame.....

Forums are made to discuss, debate, and offering different perspectives.  No one has to agree.  They are opinions.  Nothing more.  Not sure why you take everything so personal, feeling the need to attack those that feel differently.  Kind of character revealing actually.

  17. It is the most "blah" name in professional sports.....

Living in the area for years, they deserve an identity....WFT is not one.  Used to love their band and their fight song.  RFK back in the day during the Gibbs era was a rocking place.

Let's just hope its better than the Cleveland Guardians....

Should Cincinnati and Notre Dame have bumped Georgia?

I would have certainly put Cincy over UGA based over performance in conference championship games.  I think UGA needs to prove themselves by playing Bama again.  If they can't handle them, I'd rather see it in the semifinal than in the final.  UGA is the only conference runner-up in the playoffs and the manner in which they lost their conference championship should have them at the bottom.  UGA got waxed basically playing a home game in Atlanta.

Would I have ND bump UGA?  I would say no...same losses with ND playing one less game.  While UGA's schedule was not overly impressive, I would rank it over ND.  ND losing at home to Cincy and almost losing at home to Toledo still sticks in my head.
