Could this be a catch game for Carmel?  Kids maybe looking past Ben Davis and looking forward to a rematch with CG.  You know the Carmel coaches are doing their best of the "one game at a time" and "we are focusing on BD", but how much are the kids listening to this?  I feel BD has found their offense since Carmel held them to 9 points.  And if it is true that the Carmel QB is out, how much of an impact will that have?

I see this game being a lot closer then the first match-up and Ben Davis pulling the upset in a close game.

Toot Toot...lol... What a fun game to watch.

Didn’t realize he was playing defense as well. LB or Safety I assume?

Hypothetical and a "What would you do" kind of situation.

If your opponents QB of a high powered offense is also a starter on Defense, would you game plan to potentially run your offense towards that said player a little more often to try and wear the QB down so that maybe it would also effect the offense?

If it were me, Yes.  He may be a stud, but the more you get hit the more you are wore down.  At least one rushing play if not more every series directly to the side that that player is on.  If he lines up on a receiver, that receiver is automatically audibled to run as far down the field as possible, passing or running play.

  4. Couldn't they test the team and they all come back negative they are good?  Heck, Southwood had a team member test positive and the rest of the team was negative and they were cleared to play.  Guess if you have a good record or the will to play you can make it work.  Feel bad for the kids because I'm sure they want to play, but they can't control what the management wants to do.

  5. This team may be one of the most balanced run\throw team that I have seen since the Caudill kids in the late 90s early 2000s.  I say balanced, 100ish passing a game and 300ish rushing per game is balanced for Eastbrook...lol... Again, he is getting those yards mostly in just a half.

I wish instead of games played this showed minutes played.

My only worry is with the weak schedule at the end of the season, the starters have only played 4 quarters out of the last 12.  I don't see them playing in the 2nd half this week either.

  6. Attendance would be way down if they cleared the stands after each game.  If I have to pay to get back in to watch another game I am not vested in, I'm going home to watch it.  If I can stay, buy some concessions and catch 2 more games of great State football, I'm in.

So I guess the question would be:  If they cleared the stadium, would you pay again to go back to watch the next game?

Question for the Eastbrook guys. Do you guys like your schedule how it is? It is top heavy right now and then last 5 games are blowouts. I can see it as a positive and a negative. Just wondering your guys thoughts. Also how would you compare this team to last years?

Not sure how other conference schedules work, but in the CIC it rotates every 2 years. For example, Eastbrook played M-G first the last 2 seasons, so this season everyone shifts up a spot and M-G drops to last on the schedule this year.  Yes, this season is top heavy, mainly because we seek out competition to start the season and not cream puffs for any easy win, but also how the rotating schedule lined up.

Also, I believe with a win over M-G Friday we will be the first ever Grant-5 champs in football.

  8. No chance the wigwam comes back, unfortunately.  Probably should have bought in the early 2000's when they sold it for a dollar to turn it into a nursing home.  Of course now it's a Jane Pauley Community Health center.

As far as the football program, there was a reason why the consolidated the schools, all the factories shut down and everyone moved.  They have never recovered, most of Madison county is struggling in football at the moment.  It all starts with the youth programs and a tenured coaching staff to get behind said programs.  But you have to keep a coach longer than 3 seasons to get that going typically.

Drop the program, no.  Every conference has a bottom dweller. If you dropped programs just for not having a winning season in the last 10 years, we would lose a lot of football teams.  Anderson barely made this list, should all these programs be dropped?

    Current Losing Streaks
    Min. 10 Games
    35-South Newton
    25-Elwood
    22-Hammond
    21-Pike Central
    21-Evansville Harrison
    21-Union Dugger
    20-Shelbyville
    19-Indpls Perry Meridian
    16-Northwestern
    16-Fountain Central
    14-Bellmont
    13-Indpls Shortridge
    12-Anderson
    10-Rushville

Any word on Blackford out there?  Are they playing?  Any of their players caught up in the 20% Quarantined?

They are selling tickets for the game on their Facebook page.  It is also senior night so I'm guessing they will do their best to get this game in.

  10. No excuses, but with the unsecured site I was unable to start the the topic last week.... On to week 4!!!

    Eastbrook at Oak Hill

Eastbrook looked good against Ole Miss. Hopefully the Indians can find their groove to make this rival competitive again soon.

    Blackford at Alexandria

Both teams coming off a victory and hungry for #2.  Should be a good game, taking Blackford in a close one.

    Elwood at Frankton

Elwood has lost 23 straight, Frankton 8.  Frankton breaks one streak, Elwood keeps the other going.

    Mississinewa at Madison-Grant

Feel like this could also be a close game early, but the numbers of Ole Miss will wear down M-G and turn in to a marginal win for the Indians.

Fun fact I heard on the TribeTV broadcast of last weeks Indians v Panthers game:

"Since Eastbrook joined the CIC in '97, there has been at least one coaching change in the CIC."

-Coach Jeff Adamson, 32 years strong at Eastbrook.

Stay safe from a distance, have safe travels to the games friday!

  11. Week 2, last warm-up before conference play.

Took a hard hit in the conference in week 1 with Eastbrook getting the only W.  Week 2 will be more promising hopefully.  M-G not playing again this week, hope they get healthy and able to start next week.

Couple of rival games this week, Lapel v Frankton and Tipton v Elwood, would hope for good games but not holding my breath.

    Blackford at Eastern
    Delta at Eastbrook
    Lapel at Frankton
    Mississinewa at New Haven
    Oak Hill at Southwood
    Tipton at Elwood
    Wabash at Alexandria

Good luck to all teams, stay healthy, safe travels and always practice good Sportsmanship.

Great info, thanks! Next question, do you know when they stopped using the football field for High School games that is down by the river? I imagine there might have been some foggy game nights down there.

My guess would be 1976ish.  The new school opened in 1977.  I played a few games on that field when I was in Jr High.  No fog, but the skeeters would carry you off the field....

Ole Miss also voted #1 Cowbell School in the state 3 years in a row.  🙂

Just trying to ruffle the Panthers feathers aren't ya 🙂....  Cass #1 in the state last year, couldn't win a Regional... Would've loved to see an old school MIC match-up in Semi-State last year.
